  • this speech should go down in history as one of the great American speeches

  • i love his passion and his intellect.....he inspires one to think a second time......i love ya dennis!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis Prager is one of the greatest thinkers that I have ever known. I think that his insight into the American trinity of values (E Pluribus Unum, Liberty, In God We Trust) is one of the most profound, non scriptural insights that I have ever heard.

  • Did you hear that? "Individualism is not selfishness, it's altruism!" Orwell, anybody?

  • @funwjoshnjenn btw it seems to me from reading your comment on this and the previous videos that you only viewed this not to understand what he is saying but just to pick holes, but I guess what should I expect from a lefty, only here to tear down those you disagree with not to have an intellectually honest discussion

  • @Illumified call me a lefty all you want, i'm not offended or insulted, but it's just not true. I DO want to understand what he's talking about, so please tell me what I'm missing.

  • @funwjoshnjenn simply American exceptionalism is the idea that being the country that gives the most liberty to the individual, it allows those ppl to pursue excellence in their lives. which allows me to do more, than say my fictional clone in another country. obviously America is moving away from individual liberty, and by association losing what is referred to our exceptionalism. It doesnt mean that I think I am better than someone else, but that I have more opportunity.

  • @Illumified where does individualism end? why is Dennis going to Africa to help children with mosquito nets? What happened to responsibility? Do you believe in legalizing drugs (I dare Dennis say he does)?

Is liberty an end, or a means to an end?

  • Judeo-Christian? What do people who HATE Christ have in common with those who WORSHIP Christ? It's pretty CHEAP for Dennis to say that we have "God" as our foundation, when he KNOWS that not just between Christians and Jews, but even amongst Protestants themselves, do not share religious beliefs.

If Jews & Christians can work on their common goals rather than differences, why should there need to be God in them at all?

  • @funwjoshnjenn Judaism and Christianity both have the old testament as there holy texts, Christianity just added the new testament, that's the story of Christs life, Jews dont hate christ, protestants r a denomination of Christianity, Judeo-christian values are those based off of the 10 commandments and the old testament, and yes denominations differ on there interpretation of certain things, but all these groups agree on the laws laid out by the commandments

  • @Illumified all these groups agree on the laws laid out by the ten commandments? Yeah, sure, tell me that all Christians and Jews keep the Sabbath day holy. Furthermore, why exclude Muslims in this respect? Are they not also an Old Testament based Abrahamic religion?

  • @funwjoshnjenn 2 your 1st point. yes they all agree these laws r a very fundamental part of the religion, 2nd no not all ppl who r in these religions keep the day holy, but both do believe it is the holy day, just because ppl rnt perfect practitioners of their religion does not discount the fact that they r instructed to do so. it seems like your point is that all Christians and Jews dont practice there religion perfectly so therefore Jews and Christians dont share a similar value system??

  • @Illumified yes, that was my point that there's no similarity Jews & Christians have in either practice of belief, that isn't in common with Muslims. No founding fathers were Muslims, none were Jews either, right?

Just because there are verses that ALLOW use of a sword does not mean it's a command, and it doesn't mean they all follow it. (the same is true with Christianity).

  • @funwjoshnjenn As far as islam yes it is an abrahamic religion, but there value system is diffrent than that of christians or jews, the name islam means submission, while there r some verses that correlate to the 10 comm., there r verses that allow "conversions by the sword" while christianity teachs to love thy enemy and to turn the other cheek. but really the only reason for exclusion was there was no founding father who was muslim, so it wasnt realavent to the conversation

  • Nobody advocates that America should be a theocracy ruled by a Pope and the church as our political framework. The logical outworking of a Godless society is that we get our morals ultimately from ourselves, and the ever-changing winds of Supreme Court Justices, not from a divine creator. When God is removed SOMETHING will have to take His place.

  • When he says the American system is based entirely on the idea that we have a god that we are accountable to is wrong. Our system was designed only with the assumption that we are not owned by the state and that god does not pick kings to command other men. The "in god we trust" bit was added along with the "under god" part of our pledge during the cold war.

I'm not saying the founders weren't religious, some were, but freedom and liberty do not require divine permission.

  • I have followed Dennis closely for many years and have NEVER heard him lie. So be careful what you say. Prager never said that the founding fathers were Jewish.

  • He never explains why the American responsibility is impossible without god. I would love to hear Christopher Hitchens respond to that. Europe was thoroughly Christian and it was a revolt against theocrats who claimed god sanctioned their king that led to America. We are the one nation that is explicitly not founded on a church. "Christian values" is a vague and constantly changing phrase. Liberty, limited government, and freedom from tyranny are not. Those are American values.

  • @randy80801 @upandopen what he DID say was that the founding fathers thought of themselves as having an experience similar to Jewish exile.

  • Were there any Jewish founding fathers or is Prager lying again?

  • @elitemathlete

What's the MM:SS when he says they were?
