thanks for this upload, I guess it's the first video I've ever seen which shows that there r more than just Grand Mal seizures. But many ppl do not "count" fokal seizures as a real epileptic seizure. Many ppl simply think that we (I have fokal seizures too) pretend 2 have something. We r not drunk, stupid or whatever.
i have been fired from 4 jobs for having seizures. i have had handcuffs put on me because the police thought i was drunk in public. i was that same kid in school who "didnt pay attention." Not everyone has grand mal seizures. i do act like i'm drunk during my complex partial seizures or i'm staring off in space during my simple partial seizures. Epilepsy is serious and i would give anything to be in that meeting room. you can succed, i made it through college.
Epilepsy isn't funny, but this is. It's the terrible acting and the really stupid kid who wants to put candy in the kid who's having a fit's mouth. I mean, it's so sickeningly bad that the whole thing becomes a joke and you can't take it seriously. My english teacher who had epilepsy thought i had petit mal seizures, but i didn't. I have autism though.
Seizures can be terrifying, I know because I have epilepsy... Thank God for the people and strangers who have been there to witness the seizures that they knew what to do and call 911. Epilepsy is no laughing matter, and it seems to me that more and more people are being diagonsed with this disorder. Education is the key regarding epileptic seizures. Thanks for all the commercials... "D"
Epilepsy is creepy. I remember when I had a couple of seizures at age 11. I saw odd colors and felt sick to my stomach. I didn't have another seizure for almost 6 years. When I had my first noticeable seizure in front of my family, my mind went blank and I fainted. When I woke up, I couldn't tell whether my vision was a dream or reality. I had another seizure over a week after that and I had to begin taking convulsants.
I know there is a vast variety of seizures, but can a single person have a variety of seizures? I never really knew if a person could have different types or if they usually are limited to mainly one type.
I have epilepsy I hope that I am not give it to my baby who have the same I have. God bless you. Thumb up and i did subscribe you. I hope you see my video please leave comment also Subscribe back too Thank you
@Superhero402 - There are no known studies that effectively show that epilepsy is passed on (genetically or other). My mother had epilepsy & my brother & I don't have it; yet I do know of another family where no parent had epilepsy but 2 of the 5 kids do. As the videos say, everybody has a difference - even if its within one type.
My best advice is to take your meds, take care of both your body & health and you will live a very fulfilling life - my mom sure did!!
And today i seached for some results, and now we know that it was epilepsy attacks. And now she is going to visit the doctor, but she cant remember anything from the time beetween the attacks. (sorry for bad english :)
I was to a party with my girlfriend. We have been together for 5 months, and she got one of those Epilepsy attacks. I must say, that i really got scared, because i had never seen it before, but she had around 70 blackouts before we got home to her house, it was really hard for us both, but me and her mom was the only ones to help her.
omfg why do you people think this shit is funny?? u guys are fucking sick! i have epilepsy and it isnt funny at all. what if someone you loved very much or yourself had epilepsy would it be funny then? grow up

@Neothink1 - people may think that was a tasteless joke about avoiding oral sex... but when I had my first seizure, I almost bit through my own lower lip. There IS involuntary clenching of the mouth and jaws during a seizure, so I will never again put anyone's Willy in my mouth.
I am on a strict ketogenic diet in an effort to control and hopefully eliminate my seizures... but I will definitely need to get my protein shakes elsewhere... sorry guys...
me & this guy in my school 2day,both had grand mal seizures about 2hrs apart from each other. I was walking in the hallway when he has his, & i heard this random guy say "get the hell up & quit playing".
I cursed him out right there on the spot. I really wanted 2 punch him in the face.
This is such a frighteningly accurate representation of my own case of epilepsy... really, everything about it, right down to the hot chicks that stare every time I enter a room.
ImABigKidNow7, ppl with epil. should be allowed as much of a normal life as possible. I wasn't allowed to ride horseback when I was a kid - but nobody had a problem with me bicycling! I have epilepsy and yes i do get seizures from jazz hands aka known as spirit fingers, choc milk now that's a killer and i also get seizures when monkeys fly out of my arse as well.
My son had his first seizure at YMCA camp. On the rocks just like in this video. Non of the camp counselors knew seizure first aid. When I pulled up, he was on his back, and could have choked to death. The most important thing is to learn what to do.
Obviously, Grekko29 doesn't know what he's talking about. Seizure can happen anywhere and at any given moment of the day. I think that what you are doing at that moment has nothing to do with it.
If you feel alone with your epilepsy; I`ve created a channel here, 100 % dedicated to people that in one way or another have to deal with seizures. Feel free to add me, post me comments or write messages!
Unfortunately, a lot of people are ignorant, including school teachers, and need to be educated. Thank you for making this video and sharing your stories. My 14-year-old was recently diagnosed, but doesn't want anyone to know. Besides family, he's only told a few close friends. Surprisingly enough, one of his teachers was not understanding and transferred him out of class. You'd think that adults, especially teachers, would be more sensitive and compassionate, but not always. Education is key.
Hey I have a question for people with Epilepsy. I am in a play called "Death COmes to Us all, Mary Agnes" and my character has to have a seizure on stage. I am worried that during the performance I might offend someone in the audience who has epilepsy. Can anyone give me advice on how to accurately portray a seizure without offending anyone? Or any negatvie stereotypes that would offend you if you saw them in a performance?
Certainly dont overdo it and dont get too spasticated. I myself saw a seizure today. Its not a pretty thing. Like I said dont overdo it and dont get too spasticated.
thank you! yeah I have been watching some of these Epilepsy videos on youtube so I am beggining to understand what a seizure looks like. It's a Good thing I came here because the script describes my character's movement as "thrashing" whcih could have led to very spastic movements.
I suffered Epilepsy when I was younger and it came back. The videos , while being informative miss out on 2 important points. The first is to move any objects that they can hurt themselves on. The second point is not to remind them that they just had one.
Yeah really, hahaha, the last thing I want when I wake up from a seizure is to see my friends huddled around me on the ground looking at me and telling me what happened. The last thing anyone with epilepsy wants is a bunch of people gawking at them.
I have epilepsy! I suffered so much in school! JUst like that child in school! The nuns use to shake me! I was abused!! I love it when the other student told the teacher that the boy just had a seizure. I was not so lucky to have someone near me like that. I always hide mine in shame! It is nothing to be ashamed of! It should be understood and be talked about and not be rediculed. God bless you for this video. I love you!
Just like you are witnessing the epileptic seizure on this video, I learned the hard way from my own family and friends, it's a life time haunting trauma and agony to see your loved ones being struck with seizures. Seizures destroy families. Too bad, there's NOT much that could be done to help the patient or the family. All that "help" advertised by "caring foundations and agencies" is nothing more than empty promises and bureaucratic circus. It's heart breaking, we are on our own. Good luck.
My Seizures videos are very interestingly educational. One can see the Grad Mal seizures and EEG test in the same screen. Thanks to my Neurologist Dr. Chen at VHC and Neurologists, Doctors and nurses of Staford University Hospital, Department of Neurology. Stanford, Ca. I finally, learned a lot about my seizures, which I never knew before. Education & support is the key answer for Epilepsy.
I had a seizure in front of my entire high school marching band. I got made fun of for the rest of the whole school year. Why do kids have to be such jackasses? Don't they know it hurts...My ex-girlfriend broke up with me because I have E. I'm treated like a child at home, and because of my horrible E I have to live with my parents till I'm 21.
That's not fair at all... but emergency aid for epilepsy should be taught to everyone... and they should know it lasts for like, five minutes. It doesn't have anything to do with the rest of an epileptic patient's life.
Nobody said LIFE HAS TO BE FAIR. In fact life is so unfair, many people are forced to live under many circumstances they would NOT tolerate nor accept. Many just survive the odds everyday to get by till the next day, praying and hoping the will eventually a better day to come. They hang in there therefore you hung in there and who knows, tomorrow could be a better day.
It's not fair at all. In all honesty, I think it's stupid to dump someone because of a medical condition. Life itself presents a differnt hardship for every human being but you must figure out a way to go through those hardships in order to survive.
My partner of 7 years and mother of my child left me because i suffered from extreme grand mall seizures,i didnt have any from birth until i was 19!! the epilepsy is awfull, but poeples misunderstanding and stereotyping of it is even worse than having the condition itself for me!.
Well, Gerrie, if I could be there for you, I would but unfortunately, Im around the other side of the world. Sorry Badda, i thought your comment was directed at me. My daughter has witnessed me having huge seizures. She absolutely freaked.Mind you Emma was only 8 at the time. But still. I honestly dont know how she would react now, after all the information ive told her and what 2 do when it happens again.
I remember a guy I worked with had a seizure. He was staggering about and his fists were clenching and unclenching. I grabbed him and sat him down in a chair -it didn't seem as if he was about to fall over but he was a bit unstable so I sat with him, gently propping him up from time to time until it was over. He woke up just as the floor manager arrived, we both explained the situation to him and that few people had seen him (embarrassment is sometimes an issue) -that was the end of it.
Badda, Thank you for standing with, standing by and rooting for a man struck with a seizure, in his desperate moments of his life. Being a hostage of persistent Epilepsy and victim of constant unpredictable seizures, I know for sure how the victim you helped would/could appreciate your caring soul and your reassuring friendly help. Thank you for caring to save a life. I wish we have more understanding people like you, this world would have been a better place to live.
Man, I was just reading some comments and they are so cruel and pathetic. It makes me sick to think that anyone can laugh at someone that has an illness.. (Now IM REALLY PISSED)
Its not for you, its a guidline for what other poeple have to do in the event of someone having a seizure!! you muppet!!!! i have epilepsy too,and appreciate videos like this! there arent enough of them.
After 10 years of persistent seizures I have never lived with nor know anything about, after losing my job, my wife, my home, my car, my driver license, my heath insurance and all my friend to be destitute homeless, what else was I supposed to do,,, Enjoy the seizures and the homelessness?
Hi, Jay, How are you? I hope everything is working out for you. I'm still struggling with my seizures, government and hospital bureaucrats, who are depriving me from having treatment for my seizures. Thank you for caring to ask. Good to hear from you.
It is great that these vids are out there, a friend of mine had a seizure twice and I was one of the few people who actually knew what to do. The bystanders were extremely helpful in this but it is kind of sad to think that only one in a few people know how to properly react to a seizure, I hope that these vids have helped a lot of people understand how to act when somebody has a seizure.
After Dilantin, Keppra, Lamictal,,, failed to stop my seizures, I'm going for brain surgery. To trace and locate the sources of my seizures for pre-brain surgery analysis, the video contenting my EEG test of two grand mal seizures in a single day is recorded and produced by Department of Neurology, Stanford University.
I was on Keppra, but I lost 2 months of my memory.I am on Lamictal 400mg daily and 3000mg of Epilim daily. Yes, I have regular tests and my levels are over, but as long as i dont have seizures im ok
Good old days, I never had nor did I care to know about seizures. I don't want to have seizures NOW either but I still have them.
How do I live with them and were do I go for help, after I lost everything for seizures?
That's what keeping me sleepless, homeless on the streets. You are lucky, your seizures are in control but some of us Seizures control our lives (if you want to call it a life).
I wish I could help you MySeizures, but I live in Australia. If you are on the PBS and have a medicare card (All australian do), medication is cheap and you dont have to pay to see a doctor either. I am very lucky ill admit that, but there are still alot of things i cannot do because of my illness.I dont know how it works overseas, but regarding u being homeless, do they have hostels or halfway houses there.Doesn't the government help in these circumstances?
Loul, unlike Australia, In America, it's a lot to EASIER to die on the streets, under bridges and skid rows of America than your life to be spared and saved. The American SADISTIC Media would rather report on flooding in Indonesia than face their demons at home. Thank you for your caring heart, any way. I appreciate your concern. Regards,
Shit, that's bad, im SOOOOOOOOOO Sorry. U know, Australia is called "The Lucky Country".We dont have anything like that, that would be awful. The government here even pays people who aren't working, to help with raising their families. I had no idea America was like that.I mean, we see all the other stuff happening in the world, but nothing like that. That is a real eye opener.
All what you about America is far mor HYPE & PROPOGANDA than reality. Come on visit the streets, under bridges and skid rows of America,,, You are NOT going to believe your eyes.

I was working one day when someone just collapsed on the floor and started jerking violently, I knew he was having an epileptic seizure. No one else knew what to do, when I asked them to get something for his head so he wouldn't injure it, they just looked at me kinda weird.
My fiance and I were watching television the other day when she had a seizure. It was bar none the scariest day of my life especially when it happens to some one you love so much!!!!
Excuse me? Was that msg for me? Yes, I am lucky because I do have $ to finance this. Alot of ppl in Australia are really lucky with the health system compared to America. And yes, i have epilepsy I have simply been replying to mySeizures comments and he has been letting me know his sad situation.
No LouLou2u2 the comment was in response to this "the children in the first commercial are robots!!! theyre sooo not real! im sorry but they need better actors" (from mrsadambrody92). Sometimes Youtube comments get misplaced.
Would you mind sharing your story about your seizures?
Having untreatable seizures of own for 10 years, I just thought it would be very interesting to share and great to know how others are coping with their seizures.
I am 30 yrs old right now, and I got my first seizure in the year of 1996. I got a brain tumor while I was born, but noone knows. Until year of 1980 which means I was 4 yrs old thats the time I had my brain surgery. After my surgery everythings goes fine but 16 yrs old thats the first time I had my seizure, it mades me feel so unhappy. Its been 11 yrs now my seizure still could not under control, I have seen through lots of specialist but no use. Life really sucks for me.
i feel for u. i was born purple (the cord was around my neck) i had my first seizure in 7th grade at the age of 12... im 16 now, and theyve tried me on so many medications, its made me depressed, suicidal, angry, and just plain weird at times. they still arent under control, and im not doing so hot in school.
Can you please help me stop my seizures by writing letters on my behalf to Senator Dianne Feinstein of California to intervene on my behalf in expediting my Medical application, therefore, I could have my brain surgery to stop my seizures and live as normal life as I always had before being struck with endless Grand Mal seizures.
Senator, Just like Alcoholics Anonymous, why isn't the Epilepsy Foundation available any where in USA, except designate areas? Who finances the EFA? Besides dispensing redudant self-serving brochures, how, what, where and when did the EFA helped any victim of Epilepsy since it ever came to happen around? I wonder, if the EFA have any idea that victims of seizures are losing every thing they have ever earned for persistent seizures? WHERE'S THE HELP?
Folks, I thought I was alone but thanks for your confirmation that our medications may be causing us to have HEART ARRHYTHMIA. I'm still getting VERY suspicious of my medications. Are they helping or hurting? Like you see on MySeizures videos, I'm wondering WHY I'm beating my chest so hard before I'm totally knocked out with seizures? It seems, I'm having CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA- A DISTURBANCE IN THE HEART'S ELECTRICAL CONDITION. SEIZURES ON SEIZURES, is my medication causing my CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA?
The authorities are always given the easy way out. I have epilepsy and when I had a seizure the cops thought I was on drugs. My Dad said I was shaking and the cops grabbed me and told me to stop resisting. My shaking made one of my arms fly out and bump an officer. To them, that's assault. My Dad tried to help by explaining, but they cuffed him for interfering. My Dad spent the night in jail, I got put on probation for assault, and the police went on with their jobs.
Matthew, Wellcome to my world. I tought I was the only one being cursed by the police. Assuming I'm high on drugs, many times the cops tried to arrest me while I'm having seizures but my friends insisted on calling the Ambulance & saved me from heading to prison while being attacked by seizure. I'm told the cops shot & killed a patient being attacked by seizure for refusing to surrender & claiming he attacked them.
I'm one of them because I have lost 10 years old my job, my wife, my home, my car & my driver license for seizures & I don't want to be alienated any more.
I would rather take chances in covering up my seozures than expose myself to social & economic deperivation. The alternatives are nightmare.
thanks for this upload, I guess it's the first video I've ever seen which shows that there r more than just Grand Mal seizures. But many ppl do not "count" fokal seizures as a real epileptic seizure. It is a neurological problem that causes people to have seizures and each seizure can vary from person to person

I think that what you are doing at that moment has nothing to do with it.
roguegirl29 3 years ago
Unless the cause of the seizure is discovered and treatable, then there's no way for a person to NOT have a seizure.

Or any negatvie stereotypes that would offend you if you saw them in a performance?
zippy3421 3 years ago
Certainly dont overdo it and dont get too spasticated. I myself saw a seizure today. Its not a pretty thing. Like I said dont overdo it and dont get too spasticated.
111Seiji111 3 years ago
thank you! yeah I have been watching some of these Epilepsy videos on youtube so I am beggining to understand what a seizure looks like.

The second point is not to remind them that they just had one.
bbyrne0323 4 years ago

I love you!
elleanor07 4 years ago

MySeizures 4 years ago
I had a seizure in front of my entire high school marching band. I got made fun of for the rest of the whole school year. Why do kids have to be such jackasses? Don't they know it hurts...My ex-girlfriend broke up with me because I have E. I'm treated like a child at home, and because of my horrible E I have to live with my parents till I'm 21.
How is this fair?
brkdream 4 years ago 4
That's not fair at all... but emergency aid for epilepsy should be taught to everyone... and they should know it lasts for like, five minutes. It doesn't have anything to do with the rest of an epileptic patient's life.
ramyajulian1987 4 years ago
Nobody said LIFE HAS TO BE FAIR. In fact life is so unfair, many people are forced to live under many circumstances they would NOT tolerate nor accept. Many just survive the odds everyday to get by till the next day, praying and hoping the will eventually a better day to come. They hang in there therefore you hung in there and who knows, tomorrow could be a better day.
MySeizures 4 years ago
It's not fair at all. In all honesty, I think it's stupid to dump someone because of a medical condition. Life itself presents a differnt hardship for every human being but you must figure out a way to go through those hardships in order to survive.
roguegirl29 4 years ago

HAVE YOU HAD BRIAN SURGERY?
HOW ELSE ARE YOU SURVIVING YOUR EPILEPSY?
MySeizures 4 years ago
I was on Keppra, but I lost 2 months of my memory.I am on Lamictal 400mg daily and 3000mg of Epilim daily. Yes, I have regular tests and my levels are over, but as long as i dont have seizures im ok

Shit, that's bad, im SOOOOOOOOOO Sorry.

A lot of people with epilepsy are "in the closet", so to speak, because of discrimination.
Mindraker1 4 years ago
The authorities are always given the easy way out. I have epilepsy and when I had a seizure the cops thought I was on drugs. My Dad said I was shaking and the cops grabbed me and told me to stop resisting. My shaking made one of my arms fly out and bump an officer. To them, that's assault. My Dad tried to help by explaining, but they cuffed him for interfering. My Dad spent the night in jail, I got put on probation for assault, and the police went on with their jobs.
MatthewFordVictoria 4 years ago
Matthew, Wellcome to my world. I tought I was the only one being cursed by the police. Assuming I'm high on drugs, many times the cops tried to arrest me while I'm having seizures but my friends insisted on calling the Ambulance & saved me from heading to prison while being attacked by seizure. I'm told the cops shot & killed a patient being attacked by seizure for refusing to surrender & claiming he attacked them.
MySeizures 4 years ago
Oh my god, that's terrible. The police are really dumb!
Prissie27 4 years ago
I'm one of them because I have lost 10 years old my job, my wife, my home, my car & my driver license for seizures & I don't want to be alienated any more.
I would rather take chances in covering up my seozures than expose myself to social & economic deperivation. The alternatives are nightmare.
