  • @Samlammd, Hello! I want to ask you somethink about this tipe of surgery, cause i didn't really get it..i mean..you have to wait a years for the hair growing in that places where now you have a kind of " scar, or points " i didn't uderstand how does it work!! Can you explain me , please? P.S. Excuse me , but i don't speak english very well:(

  • @Denii104 if you are talking about why you have to wait for hair to grow, that is because hair is like a plant. you put it in then the blood supply formalizes and it starts to grow over time.

  • @samlammd Hello. I was wondering if a transplant or surgery could be done for cowlick in the hairline area? I have a cowlick that i just hate. Is there any procedure that could remove it and still keep my hairline the same?

  • @Lyfelong397 hmmm, only if the cowlick were weak. it is hard to overpower hair that grows in a certain direction. i would say not recommend what you are asking for here.

  • Other Drs. argue that the hair doesn't grow as thick and natural looking as a female would want it. Is this true?

  • @frickencostarican it is true and not true at the same time. if you go to hairtx [dot com] you can see tons of successful female transplants. however, a few things. one, it is natural. however, in terms of density it depends on how much female donor hair there is and how to strategize to fill the area. if the patient has good donor hair and i can target an area like the central forelock, etc., then the odds are good for a relatively dense result. check out my lecture on female hair on here.

  • This looks a bit uncomfortable and itchy. I can't decide which would be more unbearable, the pain of surgery or hair transplant, what do you suppose? Also, would it take a full year for the hair to grow "bangs" length?

  • @frickencostarican a lot less with an HT. :)

  • hello. i would like to get this done before i get married, however i'd rather have the hairline lowered surgically vs. hair transplant. do you do that as well?

  • @frickencostarican i personally do not do the surgical lowering due to several reasons: scarring, numbness and inability to get a good temporal frame, which is half the battle.

  • how much is it?

  • @BamitsTT please send that question to info at lamfacialplastics [dot com]. :)

  • Hi, i am from the UK and would love to get this done, can i email you to get a rough idea of the price, if so should i attach a photo?

    thank you!!

  • @delicateRose123 send a photo to me at samlammd at yahoo [dot com]. for a rough price send an email to marcy at lamfacialplastics [dot com].

  • @beezwaldo no sorry. the patient does not live in dallas and has not responded to my contacting her.

  • @samlammd Hi Dr. Lamm ... Anything yet? I just had my hairline adjusted and would love to see her full result

  • @musicman0559 no, i have not heard anything from her at all despite my contacting her. sorry.

  • Hey... I've been trying to find a doctor that does hairline transplants or lowering and so far the only one I found was is beverly hills. I live In st. Louis. Can you tell me about how much this procedure costs without insurance ? Thanks. Great job.

  • that is cool. i run a course on hair transplant in st. louis every year. i am not allowed to publish prices here by my staff. just call 888-866-3388 for a ballpark.

    best,

  • on propecia i was reading the side effects:decreased sex drive, impotence, itching, rash, swelling, testicular pain. are most of this side effects permanent or take a long time before they wear off?

  • they should go back to normal after stopping. In fact, 57% of side effects will stop if you continue. obviously, people on the Internet are claiming that they don't.

  • im just turned 20 last August and my hair is starting to fall out and my hairline is receding i went to my doctor and she said it was MPB (because it runs in the family) could i still get a hair transplant?

  • i can't give you medical advice. however, that is on the younger side and you have a very very high chance of having an unnatural result in the future because you would run out of usable donor hair in the future. you could possibly be a great candidate for propecia and rogaine. talk to your physician. visit my site hairtx [dot com] and read my medical treatment section.

  • I am a male who has had a big forehead since childhood. I'm wondering if you do this procedure for men that are not suffering from MPB.

  • yes, so long as you are probably over 30 just to make sure that you are not truly a MPB sufferer.

    best,

    dr. samuel lam

  • I'm 22. I've already called to have an appointment to get one scheduled. How much did it cost you and how long was the swelling there? Was the swelling bad to the point where you couldn't go out in public?

  • It is true, after the surgery you have to use minoxidil or rogaine to see results?? You have to use, but is temporaly ?? Please let me know ahhh and you look so preety.

  • no, you do not need rogaine afterwards for female hairline lowering. rogaine is really only for someone who is losing their hair. this woman was not losing hair. she just wanted a lower hairline.

  • Well, Im from Puerto Rico I know a little english, but if i fly to Dallas, in the clinic exist some person who speak spanish, for some question that i can't do in english, and can help me in the translate ??? Please let me know .Thanks

  • si yo puedo hablar espanol. i speak pretty good medical spanish but cannot talk to someone outside of that. so you should be fine.

  • i had a HT that looks like this girls. It was a FUE, where they pluck individual hairs out. After 6 days it was completely unnoticeable. My hair was even shaved down to a one. and after a week all the scabs where gone and noone had a clue, they just commented how short my hair was. Its been 9 days since and i feel good. this transplanted hair will stay there til you die. i still use rogaine on the other parts of my head where the rest of my hair might go.

  • @Hektor7788

Dr. Lam what is the difference between FUE and the other method ? In what cases would one choose one a little more over the other?

    do you do both methods?

what would you suggest if i wanted to add more fullness to my top

  • @mi13estrellas FUE is 4x the cost, does not harvest that much hair and can waste donor hair. the only reason to do FUE is in a male that wants to have very very closely cropped hair and has significant density, minimal hair loss, and is willing to spend upwards of 8 to 10 x the cost for a ht but still cannot shave his hair completely down.

  • Hi. Just had my hair transplant a month ago and was wondering if you experience a lot of hair shaft falling out after the first 1 month. The doctor said it was normal, but i have not experienced much of that. Have you hair fully grown in yet? I look at it everyday with anticipation.

  • hair can shed but does not always do so. typically hair starts to become fuller after 6 to 9 months with a complete result by 12 to 18 months.

  • as in surgically moving the hairline forward?

  • transplant (see above)

  • are there any final results for this patient? Also would it not have been better to have a hairline lowering procedure instead of a hair transplant? I know a woman who did that and it looks completely natural.

  • sure, hairline lowering is another viable option. i don't prefer that for several reasons:

    1. possible scar. i have seen them.

    2. i recreate a more natural pattern with a cowlick, lateral mounds etc. which is harder when many high hairlines have a flatter appearance.

  • sorry, point #2 should read "which is harder when many high hairlines have a flatter appearance and you just lower them."

  • Is this surgery also available for men???

  • yes, but we don't call it hairline lowering since we are just recreating a new lower hairline in men that are balding. this woman is not balding. she just has a high hairline. therefore, we are referring to this as lowering the hairline.

  • But im not balding.

  • ok, then it would be also called hairline lowering. just make sure you are over 30 to 35 so that we don't prematurely lower the hairline then you start balding and we would then play catch up. basically consult your surgeon or if you are interested we could do a consultation for you when you are ready.

  • Is it ok if your 27?

  • if you are a man at 27 and are looking to lower a high hairline and insist that you are not balding i would still wait until the early 30s at least to prove that indeed you have no hair loss. that would be at a minimum. obviously, it depends on a ton of factors: how high your hairline is, how dense your donor hair is, etc. you need to talk with an ETHICAL transplant surgeon. NOT a chain that will sell you a procedure.

  • can you please get an updated picture of this very helpful lady, it would be great to see her hair growth thankyou

  • there is a video response showing the 4 to 6 month result below the video box.

  • how is your hair transplant coming along ?i had mine4months now and seeing results. how is your s is 4 months still premature to assume the full results?

  • typically 4 months is early for results. it takes 1 year to 18 months in general.

  • *PATIENTS BEWARE* Dr. Samuel Lam is not entirely honest and using few of his more successful cases to misrepresent himself. He is a phenomenal publicist and is extremely convincing, but don't be fooled. Its one thing to use youtube for entertainment, but another for a medical professional to exaggerate his abilities and knowledge to millions of viewers. If a plastic surgeon makes himself sound too good to be true, he often is. Don't let yourself get hurt.

  • how much did it cost?

  • you must email my patient care coordinator at constanze at lamfacialplastics. i am not permitted to write any more costs here.

  • hi thankyou please keep me updated thankyou

  • hi do you have another updated picture thankyou kindly

  • sorry, no. my hair transplant coordinator couldn't get a hold of her. when i do, i'll post it.

  • hi. Where did you get this done? How much does it cost? I really want to do the same

  • what happens is that we shave 1.5 to 2 cm of hair on the back of the head then we remove 0.9 to 1.1 cm of it leaving you about half a centimeter or a centimeter of shaved hair that grows back at the rate that you would if you shaved your head, appoximately 1 cm per month. remember however, this is a tiny area under coverage by a mass of hair so no one will see it unless you look under their by lifting your hair up the first few months after the procedure.

  • if this procedure were to be performed on a male, would the scar on the back of the head be noticeably visible in the long run if he decides to have short hair?

  • that is always possible if you go very short.

  • Hi....i would love to know if the patient has a recent picture of how her hairline has grown thankyou

  • Im a 16 year old boy, i got a big forehead and im wondering if I can get this surgery at 18 years of age. Its not receeding because i've had the same hairline my foreheads just big.

  • hey hi how can i keep in touch wif u? cux i'll like to get hair transplant and i hope to know how it is like? thanx

  • does it matter how old you are?

approximately how much does this type of surgery cost?

  • how much did the transplant cost, where can you get one and is it for ever woman?
