Was projectile stream of infectious blood just the infection draining? Did it make that stream because of the pressure? Poor cat wow, that must have been so painful, but at least he's ok now thank G--d. Happy belated kitty, glad to hear you're doing better.
P.S. Windstar, just as a BTW, nice going on not really scratching the infected area and let the sutures & complete healing process take it's course and heal properly ;) Props gorgeous. BCR Keep up your angelic work that you so naturally do!
@MasTArrrRR Yep, exactly the pressure was built up in there and the resulting stream of blood etc... had to be squeezed out before we could suture it . Windstar is a cool, big bobcat we're happy he's back to normal :)
The infection in his ear is called ear hematoma wichita Is when the ear gets filled up with blood and swells up. Thanks for uploading a great vid. The bobcat is very cute and I hope he feels better.
Was the dr. able to determine what caused the ear to fill up? Was it a cyst? Has it refilled since? Sorry I am a vet tech so the medical stuff really interests me :)
We weren't 100% sure it just got infected somehow, noit hasn't refilled since all is good, Windstar as lost some of his good looks though with his floppy ear!
oh wow lol so hes a big boy!! i hope he had a good kitty bday:) i went on ur website and and wrote down alot of the cats bdays lol. but i forgot to get tj zabu and camerons bdays, do u know when they are??
Hi, no it didn't make that popping sound I added it trying to be funny!? We didn't really do anything to stop Windstar from scratching his newly drained ear, he left it alone and it healed fine.
Hi to all staff at bigcatrescue thankyou for doing all this fantastic work for and with the big cats. Did the bobcat have any pain after? Would the cats let you pet them if you wanted?
Hi 333tubbie, thanks for your comments, I'm sure Windstar had only minor pain afterwards but he's doing great now, back to his usual self. As for petting these guys that's just something that we don't do at Big Cat Rescue, we never go in the cage with the animal and clean from the outside too.
That was so cool to watch. Thanks so much for sharing these vids with us BCR. You guys(and gals!) are the best there is and all the BIG cats are so lucky to have you. wish I lived closer too, 'cause I'd probably want to be there 24/7. Kudos to all of you!
I think Karma will pay you guys in the end. You do wonderful work and if I lived nearby,I would surely be volunteering every spare minute that I had. I love cats..purrrrfect predators. Peace friends.
Hi Ramo060606, yes we offer guided tours to see the cats. Our address is 12802 Easy Street, Tampa, Florida. If you visit our main website at BigCatRescue*org (replace the * with a . ) you can take the link on the left called "Visit Us" to find the various types of tours we offer, tour dates, times and prices.
He had an abscess - basically an infection or bite that became infected but didn't drain - thus the body works overtime and produces more fluid which also 'goes bad'. Eventually the abscess MUST be drained or it can make the animal (or person) very sick. If you have a very strong stomach, you can watch many videos of similar operations on animals and humans. It's really gross though. I mean REALLY gross. To BCR - that sound effect make me laugh!
VickiOrMindyB, Raindance actually has her own screensaver, wallpapers, puzzles and bookmark designer programs. Have you seen those? If you want the direct link (all free) let me know.
I'd love to be able to do the puzzles but, when I tried, the file exe. wouldn't open on my computer. An exe file is PC format and I have a Macintosh. Is there another way to make the puzzles work on my system? Mac Mini OS Leopard.
VickiPOrMindyB, oh bummer. Yes the exe file puzzles are for PC not Mac. I AM SO SORRY!! There are some Flash Puzzles that should run on the Mac. We are working on more flash games that should run on the mac as well.
VickiOrMindyB, if you go to our main website BigcatRescue*org and go to the link on top that says "Photos Our cats" you can find each cats pictures and bios there.

I actually had a similar procedure done on MY ear, so I know how it feels. I had a lump in my ear that no one had ever seen.
I became an experiment for some student medical interns, who took pictures of what was in my ear while I was awake to know about it.

Emilygclarinet, Windstar's personality fits the name. (or vise versa). Great little cat.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
I was right: Alex is Windstar's father. Alex and Windsong. I love their Indian names; like Raindance, Windstar, and Windsong.
I used to have an unnatural fear of bobcats before I learned more about them.

Isn't Wind Star related to Alex in some way.
I adopted Alex a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly, Wind Star is Alex's son.
Is that right?
