  • I hear that drinking milk will help with midsection fat burning but its because of something that milk reacts to your body

  • what's up with chicken?

  • Who the hell is this guy?

  • if you cant take what pavel dishes then go and watch some dr phil so you can get those estrogen levels up !! power to you comrade

  • Spinning is for sissies. Full stop.

Anyone who doesn't think so is delusional and trying to rationalize being a sissy. Sell that stupid spin bike, buy a real bicycle and a oly lifting bar and maybe you'll start looking like a man.

This, from a former spin instructor.

  • A real olympic whippy bar is goddamn expensive. So is a bike. We're not made of money.

Buy a power bar and fuck the bike. Maybe run, but no more than a mile at a time. I'd rather look like Conan the Barbarian than Prefontane.

  • His definition of a sissie is totally unclear to me.

Lunges are for sissies..........one more time: Lunges are for sissies.

Still can't make the connection. Oh wait there is no connection, it's just macho bullshit.

Ok pavel, try 20 reps of 100kg lunges. Good luck

  • He does promote renegade lunges. Read his book Beyond Bodybuilding and maybe you'll start squatting properly instead of wasting time on lunges. But I guess you want to spend your money on "fast working" supplements instead of training books.

  • The man is very much in a position to say lunges are for sissies as he can do numerous one-legged squats. How many people can do them?

  • The pistol isn't actually that hard if you're decently strong at regular squats; I got it on the first try (~145lbs with a ~225lb max single on squats...weak, but quite a while ago).

I disagree with the notion that lunges are useless, however. They imitate sprinting much more closely than any other popular exercise, and are thus vital in athletic training programs. Non-athletes should be doing at least SOME unilateral work too, so they're an option there as well.

    ...done heavy, of course. XD

  • I feel bad for spending 200 on a spinnig bike, I have just disapointed the master : (

  • what the hell is a spinning bike?

  • LOL, got a thumbs down for my comment. Well a spinning bike would be the stationary bicycles that you train on in the raised position simulating the sports bikes that are used in long distance competitions. Actualy it works wonders for your body fat because it works the mid section, buttocks and thighs like crazy.

nvm my last comment I was joking, spinning aint for sissies at all

  • The reason it does 'wonders' for bodyfat is not because it works the abs and legs. Spot reduction? Really?

  • Sorry I missed the response in your reply, your point?

  • That if you have a fat belly, crunches wont make a difference

  • 12% body fat, I dont have a fat belly at all. I grow my entire mid section as I add fat. I understand your point on crunches but concerning my anatomy I have to excersice more my lower back, thighs and buttocks to burn fat.

I'm also working a crap load pf one hand pushups ever since I read Naked Warrior from Pavel

  • My point is that research shows spot reduction doesn't work. You can not selectively lose fat in certain areas, it has to be lost through caloric deficit + exercise all over the body at once

  • oh I catch your drift now, but spinning ain't exactly spot reduction. It is an intense cardio workout and it does work some of the areas forgotten by men

  • Of course, yes. But the reason you can tell me you're 12% bodyfat by only testing on one spot is because fat is added everywhere almost equally. =]

  • Ok, point taken buddy, much of what I am saying is from an article I read a while back on spinning. the point hy it works so well is because, as the article said, it worked some of the biggest muscles in the body (thighs and buttocks). You said fat is stored almost equally across the body right? try working the bigger muscles and then tell me how it works : P

  • Yep, squat heavy! Growth hormone etc

  • you can lose fat without a caloric deficit...if you burn the same number calories as normal yet have more hgh or test, you'll burn fat

  • Please come spinning with me Pavel, please.

  • He's trying to be funny and while I laughed and agree on one end, anything that gets the populous more physically active is worth something.

  • i was going to comment but it seems you typed it all for me....thank you sir

  • There's plenty of saturated fat in chicken. Better to trust him in exercise matters but not that of nutrition.

  • That depends on what part of the chicken you eat, if you eat skinless, boneless, chicken breast, that's another story.

  • just because he has an ego doesn't mean he isn't right. lunges are not the best leg exercise, especially compared to pavel's stuff

  • chicken is good, but i'll take a steak anyday, especially a med rare prime rib!

  • why?

  • He doesnt work out to look good. He works out for strength. Some of his exercises are considered the best strength exercises out there. Whats the point of having big muscles if if you dont have any power to bac kit up. Working out to look good personally i think are faggots. Minus Mentzer he was a crazy mofo.

  • He trains soldiers and SWAT. Even if you could build huge muscle as a soldier, you'd probably lose half of it out in the field, living off rations, without any barbells in sight. He's about fitness and overall health. Extra weight ie muscle stresses out your system. Personally I don't think mutant muscles make a person look very good anyway. Especially not if you're anything like Ronnie Coleman. Bodybuilders look like they're constatly taking a dump.

  • You're right, work out to look good, I'll just keep doing my thing and focus on functional strength.

By the way, bodybuilders structure a lot of their workouts after Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee didn't work out for looks, just read some of the books that were from close friends of his. Everything of his concentrated on functional strength, his aesthetics was just a side effect of his training. Get over yourself. Keep working out to get that wannabe beach body.

  • what the hell is wrong with lunges?

There really isn't such a thing as a bad exercise in my opinion. If its not improving you, you need more resistance. Any exercise performed with the appropriate resistance level and correct technique is helpful to you.

  • until the exercise becomes dangerous because of the load. unbalanced exercises should not be highly loaded. these include lunges, for example.

  • Right, so if you are lifting weights with a twisted spine and it injures you that just means you need to add more weight. What?! There are plenty of bad exercises. And there may be many which are eventually helpful, but his help you much more quickly. Plus they're safer. I doubled the amount of pull ups I could do almost instantly after reading The Naked Warrior.

  • Wrong. There are no "bad" exercises unless it's something like, drop a 500 pound barbell on your chest to bounce it when you're bench pressing or something to that effect.

Most exercises are EXECUTED incorrectly, resulting in injury. There isn't something wrong with the exercise itself, per se.

  • Crunches. Doing a crunch on the floor with your feet flat on the ground is an incredibly inefficient way to strengthen the abdomen and it puts too much stress on the spine. That is a bad exercise.

  • So what is the correct way to do crunches?

  • Not doing crunches at all is the best. If you do pull ups and push ups right then they should strengthen you abdomen enough. But Pavel has written at least two books focusing on the abs. One good exercise is the one Bruce Lee used to do. Can't remember what it's called. But it's where you hold on to a bench with you arms and lower your body down. He talks about it in Bullet Proof Abs. I only do push ups and bench presses and my core is plenty strong. The deadlift is very good too.

  • Love this guy ;)

    What's wrong with chicken? %-)

  • he says chicken, because it contains no saturated fat, will do nothing to boost your testosterone, or something like that.

  • You need fat to make testosterone, but just because you eat chicken doesn't mean you will have lower testosterone than someone who eats steak, so long as you're balancing your diet out with something else.

  • id like to see any one of you (who commented) say that to his face. Then, I will explain to you why i think he is correct and you are not :)

  • chicken? what does that mean? echoes of leroy jenkins...

  • ...pick up some heavy dumbells and tell me that lunges are for pussies.

  • In every video he is always changing his voice. It's either low and annoying or high/low and not annoying.

  • shut up comrades and listen to master pavel! its for the good of the party

  • but, but, but..I like to eat chicken lol

  • ... even when is not right ;-)

Don't get my wrong, I do respect Pavel! And also I know what communism is.

  • The Party is always right!
