This is an interesting fight and illustrates a couple of things: (1) to learn how to fight, one must fight. (2) When comparing modern day full contact karate vs days of old, it really shows the improvements Japanese as people are capable of. Much like the auto industry, the idea of kaizen is implemented in all things...with the K1 and Kyokushin guys showing that Karate is still quite effective when practiced in a manner more translative to the rhythm of true combat.
@ihavetheherpes That is incorrect. Karate guys do kick from where that stand. But that's because they have to keep up with the pace or get punched hard. Karate guys do check kicks. Most low leg kicks are checked in karate and blocked with the knee or upper shin. Karate guys do protect their face. In karate, you can catch a kick, but a takedown after that is illegal. Kicks like tornado kicks are used by Taekwondo. Not karate. Karate only uses back spin hook and axe kicks.
Funny how we can find the one Kyokushin student who lost and not find the other two who won their fights against Muay Thai fighters in the same Tournament.
@MynameisAbhaySoni never seen a karate guy check a kick, karate guys do spinning hook kicks, muay thai fighters love the clinch, muay thai fighters protect their face a lot more, muay thai fightings are more diverse with their hands, thai fighters step out at a 45 degree angle before kicks for more torque, karate guys kick from where they stand, thai fighters like to catch kicks and karate guys use flashy moves like tornado kicks.
Well, if I was, then would I be posting all the comments? If you know about anything that is different in both the arts, except for the ones I have noticed, please share and enlighten me...
I bet that Karate guy was pissed at all the time he wasted on those stupid katas.

Its not conventional Karate. Karate experts in Japan invented kickboxing in the 1960s as a response to Mauy Thai.

Anyone who attempts to use this video as proof that karate sucks, should rewatch the video. It was clearly a close fight.

@wqsid Give me a break. Muay Thai fuck Karate ass all over the ring all day long, you called this a close fight.
sahapoom1975 4 days ago
this happens in most cases..muay thai is raw fighting...the average karate expert is not as conditioned as the average muay thai fighter
JasonDanjafield 3 weeks ago
I don't understand how the japanese could last for 3 rounds...probably because the thai fighter wasn't allowed to use elbows, I don't know...
torqueup74 4 weeks ago
@torqueup74 probably because the Karate fighter is well trained and even tho he lost this fight he probably would kick your ass
AmericanAztec915 2 weeks ago
@AmericanAztec915 totally agree with you...thanks for unveiling the arcane LOL;)

@torqueup74 Mhm because the karate guy was good but unfortunately the muay thai guy was stronger.

I don't see any difference in Muay Thai and Karate in any videos except for spinning knuckles, elbows and knees.
