Possibly. But even without the National Dex, you are allowed to obtain any and all Pokemon from any Pokemon game onto your Platinum version. I was able to trade some of my Pokemon from Diamond that aren't in the Sinnoh Dex, but they don't show on the Poke-Sinnoh-Dex. That is, until you get the National Dex.

well yeah when you trade you can get anything but until you get the national dex you cant capture certain pokemon like palkia and dialga which also might effect the events

Yeah, you can't get some of those after game Pokemon until you get the National Dex. I thought that would only include Heatran, Regigigas, etc. While Dialga and Palkia would be obtainable before getting the National Dex since they are part of the Pokemon Platinum Sinnoh Dex (list of 210 Pokemon on dex).

No, you don't use Pokemon Platinum to get the Regigigas. First of all, the event was only for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and took place and ended a day before Pokemon Platinum was officially released. Although, I went to a special event that gave us the game early, so the Regigigas event was still active. Anyhow, the event was only for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. You then transfer that Regigigas to your new Pokemon Platinum game to activate Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. THAT's how it works.

For Pokemon Platinum... The codes are "EVERYONE HAPPY" and "WI-FI CONNECTION". Let me know if it works or not, although I'm 100% sure the second code is right, but 90% sure the first is correct.

Well, I wanted to give it a shot knowing that there might be a chance of it working, but I did have my doubts. I had a feeling that Pokemon Diamond/Pearl events have a different coding from Pokemon Platinum events, and I was right.
