it is actually unkown whether vergil is dead or not, but fragments of the nelo angelo were used to create the angel soldiers. he could still be alive but no in person.

some say that devil arm is a rencarnation of the vergil (the one talking is the devil within nero, so it could be vergil saying: "...more power" *creeps*) other say that nero is a prostitute and vergil's son (what a combination...) but i think it's both. just read the novel and or wait for devil may cry 5 (i heard that there returns vergil)

This game is after DMC1, where Vergil was one of the main antagonists. Appearantly, Dante claimed Yamato after the death of Vergil.

Yeah, they were brothers. Twins even. But when Dante wanted to protect the world from demons Vergil instead choose to do whatever he can to gain more power. Dante tried to stop him from grabbing this power thinking that Vergil wasn't good enough to have it, that bad thing would happen. Vergil lost the fight and was brainwashed by the prince of demons to later fight Dante again where Dante ultimately killed him.

no, its just not. its sparda. yamato was previously spardas also. the only clue that distinguishes whether its sparda or vergil is when you defeat berial, and he says "you are just like he was". and from all of the dmc games, sparda is the only one to be legendary, thus...

That does look like Sparda's spirt behind Nero, but I think it still has some of Vergil's spirit in it. If not in his arm, because he said that the he heard a voice echo the day his arm changed. "Power. Give me more power!" So you think that Vergil may have put some of his spirt in Nero?
