  • I think what makes Schenker so different (à part) is his cool attitude, calm, no excentricity when he plays, only focused on what he's playing, with sometimes a smile to the others, timidly, "hi, my name is Michael, and you?", no violence, only music...

  • This is a unique tone and not for everyone but I think it sound cool.

  • Wow! He's on fire here! Nice to see the "old" Schenker playing with passion like he does when his mind and Spirit are clear. I saw him at The Edge in Palo Alto, CA back in I believe 1994 and we recorded the Live MSG CD that night. He was SO on his game it was ridiculous !!! Since Randy died, Schenker is absolutely the best Rock Guitarist on the planet. Peace. -dave

  • I can't believe he can bend his neck that far forward... it sounds like a trem...

  • this is sick, MS is tearing it up! need more of this footage

  • Michael is hardly underated

  • Saw him in 1976 and loved him ever since , even with the years off the rails....but now a true genius and ORIGINATOR seems to be back !!!!!

  • great guitar player schenkkkkkkeeeerrr

  • KING SCHENKER !!

  • The guy is a god

  • @heavymetalviking..damn sure looks like dimebag dont it..i thought the same thing

  • SCHENKER RULES!!!!!!

  • Fantastic playing from one of Germany's greatest rock guitarists!

  • looks like this was a show to see...

  • Schenker is AMAZING ! Genius. He would be more well known if he had had a more solid career and could stay away from the bottle. German guitar players...damn ! Michael and Rudolf Schenker, Uli Roth, Matthias Jabs ALL GREAT !

  • Michael Schenker is awesome and is probably the most under-rated, under-discussed guitarists ever. It's unfair, he's so great. More people should know his name, especially if they play guitar!

  • @vaibanez17 trust me any guitarist worth anything knows about michael schenker and uli roth ... they are hardly under rated in any guitarist circle

  • @vaibanez17 Totally. One of the few who can play fast with amazing technical ability without negatively impacting make a soulful, emotional solo. His solo on "I'm a Loser" is incredible as is the epic on "Rock Bottom." I feel like Schenker and Robbo and Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy are overlooked far too often. It's too bad Schenker wasn't in a better band than UFO. Oh, the possibilities...

  • @Apathesis0 And it's not say I don't like UFO. I'm a big fan. Just not huge on the vocalist or the lyrics.

  • @vaibanez17 I wouldnt say he is underated but definatley underdiscussed. But back in early 80's when i was in hs. He was talked about alot at least by us metal heads.I know he isnt really metal but most who like metal like hard rock too.Im glad to see and hear MS still has it. that solo rocked

  • I was right behind you. Remember my friend was in a argument about us pushing to get up front ? This was the one a Peabodys, disregard last post, that show was in 2010.

  • I was at this f***ing monster of a performance. Blew Lynch of the stage, and I am a fan of GL.

  • WHEN HES ON.HE CAN'T BE TOUCHED.not only does he play this heavy shit.he wrote it.so creative.most players sound boring next to him.POOR POOR CLEAVLAND

  • i went and saw him in england with the michael schenker group but he came out absolutely pissed and could not play guitar stormed off stage was really unprofessional great guitarist though

  • i guess they always loved michael schenker and ufo in cleveland. phil mogg and michael schenker are "superstars" there, even if they aren't all that well known in the united states as a whole.

  • @jonbecker03 I'm from cleveland amd UFO is the best rock band ever! and michael is the best!

  • 1:32 is that DIMEBAG in the background???! @_@

  • @HeavyMetalViking89 Wayne Findlay--Rhythm guitar and Keys.

  • Those Dean V's sound so much thicker than the Gibson V's. I had an '81 stock Flying V and no matter what I did I could not get any girth out of it. Changed pickups a couple of times. Had it apart more than it was together. I think it was just a crappy piece of wood they used for that one. Sold it for $400.

  • can see why buckethead is so great...he had this dude to listen too :P

  • Been a Michael fan since UFO when I bought the Force It album...I have them all on cd now along with most all his solo stuff too, and the live in Japan dvd. Keep on rockin' Michael! We love ya and can't get enuff of ya!!!

  • Rock Bottom !

he sounds pretty darn good here...

  • So great, he manages to be over the top and tasteful at the same time, genius

  • schenker is king, such an influence speed and harmony all the way!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AMAZING!Glad to see him back in shape!

  • He's always been my favorite player, since 1977 when I hear my first UFO record. He's the man. You know it! lol

  • @bloobear1 HE'S SHREDDING PENTATONIC SCALES PAL!

  • @fenderrlee My dad taught us those scales and we affectionately call them "Old Manic Scales"

  • I was at this show maybe two rows behind the video guy. Didn't know how it was going to be but it turned out to be a FANTASTIC performance by Michael, as you can see :)

  • WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG AT 0:52 ?

    That solo is killer...

  • @messerJ4H Let sleeping dogs lie....you have to hear that song from the beginning. The probably greatest link of songs starts at the beginning of Attack of the Madax Man and ends with But I want more. In the middle is Let sleeping dogs lie. The end of that song is a frenzy of guitars no other guitarist has ever done.....he is the greatest of them all

  • Wow! he was in top form this night..

  • Great solo !

  • damn... those deans sound like strings on plastic bodies... i wish he went back to the gibsons

  • Mike shows less is more..so friggin tasty in his licks...Gary should be rolled intothe gutter out back..out classed

  • Schenker rules

  • i was at this gig. i know schenker has off nights but this was not one of them. i was literally 3 or 4 'rows' directly behind this guy, it was great.

  • Michael is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so clad he's back, in a different way but in a good way.

I love his vibrato and feel in his playing.

  • Legend!

  • This guy is ok only. I've witnessed worse, and I've seen Alot better.

  • @diamondschecter I bet they played Schecters too...

  • @diamondschecter this comment is only ok.i've read worse, and i've read A LOT better!(a lot is two words einstein).

  • The 3 fingers thing is a staple of GERMANS & RUSSIANS!! Pinky is also invalueable to incorporate into scales&runs!! The science of it is U teach 3 fingers to do a lick on 2 strings!! Then transfer same idea lick to other strings!! This creates WARP SPEED,cause brain only has to LEARN 1 thing!!Picking PATTERN stays same!!This is GENIOUS thinking!!Needs to go back to GIBSON ''V'' , SOUND IS MUCH BETTER ,Sorry Michael, but it' true!!GOD BLESS!!

  • @712musicman Tell your pinky story to Paul Gilbert.

  • When I make my own riffs and solos, they sound so much like michaels! Love that sound

  • I love Michael's playing..he is one of those guitarist's that sings with his guitar, it's like his voice.

  • great comment about 3 fingers.pat metheny+ clapton use 3 fingers alot to

  • so creative.KEEPING UP THE ASSAULT ATTACK

  • fuck me!

  • Michael is better now then ever!! It's amazing!

  • @cessnapilot182

I agree. I saw him on the 2009 tour and he was absolutely flawless. He's been absolutely brilliant every time I've seen him play over the past few decades, but somehow he actually got better.

  • See no tapping (spelling) - just bending his fingers every witch way he can.

  • He allso played with the scorpions

  • See kids, this is a rock`n`roll tremolo. And yes, it`s done without a whammy bar. So save your money... :-)

  • It's been inspiring to see Michael in recent times, renewed and full of energy, healthy, positive, and completely ON. He seems to have returned to the top of his game - what a joy for him, and for us.

  • unfuckingbelivable...

  • michael, was asked to also join Ozzy, Aerosmith and Thin Lizzy and did play in Ratt for awhile he's just that good

  • @HellRazor0313 He never played in Ratt. He did a project with the guitarist called Contraband.

  • @jcmangan he played in Ratt for a short time

  • This is HUGE. Thanks so much!

  • This man is a legend. Can't wait to see him 7/24 in OKC!

  • @stonekeeper86

Did you make it to the show? I was there and really enjoyed it. How lucky are we that MSG actually made it to OKC. Scorpions and Cinderella were very good but Schenker is the reason I braved the heat for that show. I'd love to see them again.

  • All I can add is this...when I think of Guitar and Tone ,,,Michaels at the top of the list..4-5 guys jump out at as far as the best Guitar sound I ever heard...

    Michael Schenker

    Steve Lukather

    Stevie Ray Vaughan

    Allan Holdsworth

    Scott Henderson

    Jeff Beck

Maybe not in that order but close What a treat!

  • @nickerz65 ...great list, also Eric Johnson who is the tone king. I would also add Andy Summers, Edward Van, Robin Ford and Jimmie Vaughan as great tones.

  • @nickerz65 personally ...I would remove everyone from the list except Michael...they are subterranean compared to him

  • what's the song at 0.50 ?

  • @Hanneman1964 Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

  • @Hanneman1964 Let sleeping dogs lie

  • He is STILL on his game!!! It's been a long time since the classic UFO album, "Strangers In The Night", but man, Schenker has gotten better, just like Beck & Clapton have!!!

  • He was definately ON this night.

  • @bloobear1

shredding just means fast playing ... anyway, he also does some speed picking stuff too ... not in this video mybe --- plus he uses not only the pentatonic scale ...you´re s fool dude

  • Man, I haven't heard Michael Schenker in ages since I've been more focused in Jazz for the past 20 years. I almost forgot how good he is. I love his feel.

  • Wow, Michael still has it. Electrifying.

  • @bloobear1 Yeah mate, I know what shredding is. I meant his incredible soloing by this term, sorry if I mistaken you. Should have written it more accuartely!

  • imagine if actually y used his pinky? he would shred 10'000 notes a minute!

  • @salamonetalton the secret of his 3 fingers is this; a pinky would prefend him to glide from note to note. 4 fingers sounds thus more stiff or static. Beleave me, the way he plays is more economic for this style then with 4. But...and try this for yourself...its goddamned troublesome to play this way.

  • 1:14......

  • incredible!! great post.

  • It's amazing how he shreds using only his three fingers!

  • awesome!!!!

  • Michael Schenker is God!!!!!!!

  • Unreal, i've been watching him play live since 83' and this is like going back 27 years!! Keep on rocking MS.

  • Thanx for this clip! MS has been on top form for two years now. Let's hope he has finally bested his demons.

  • You notice how he can shred without a lot of distortion. That's ol' school. What club was this videotaped in Cleveland?

  • It's actually just plain good musicianship.

  • Today's new guitarists have a lot to learn from the legends.

  • @TomOzzy123 Peabody's Downunder...6/26/2009...much better than the night before in Springfield, Va. they wer esmoking the better tobacco in Cleveland!

  • @ave2112 ,

That's why we call Cleveland the home of rock and roll.

  • Great Clips well captured. He's turned the clock back 25 years and is on fire at present. Thanks for sharing.

    Love it

  • fucking good ol fashioned rock n fuckin roll

    legend

  • Michael is the king of the guitar

  • @pAntA24

oops inadvertently gave this a thumbs down instead of up! He is most certainly the best of the best

  • He is definitely one of the best. He is fast, but it's not just that. He has a tremendous vibrato and as mentioned by some others, he has an ability to convey such emotion in his playing. There are only a handful of players in the world where you know it's them playing because they have a unique sound. He is one of them. In the top five best, for sure.

  • When sober, he's one of the greatest ever. Nice to see him tearing it up like this.

  • Thanks for posting this...It's good to see him back in form.

  • Awsome footage buddy - youre spot on - amazing playing and its great to see him playing so well again, what an inspiration schenker is, A big credit to you for putting this on Y.tube. Thanks.

  • Michael Fantastick.

  • he has his wings now''the Dean is the Shit''bye bye Gibson''

  • Great to see Michael in top form again. He can really convey the emotion in his playing.

  • The fucking king

  • He Is the King of Rock and Roll.

    Rock on Michael.

  • kirkwanglers32 damn right.

  • WOW! He looks so much better than he has in the recent past. MS is one of the all time best players - EVER, and I wish he would get more props. Great to see him playing at the top of his game again. Thanks for posting.

  • Very happy to see Schenker just kickin' ass and takin' names again...next. You know shredding(dragonforce)speed contests end up all the same..B.S....Schenker has made a clear unique mark since the 70's...and is looking killer focused again...brilliant organizer of melody, speed and power..I always think of the Bavarian Mountains in his melodics...I dare anyone to go on a 40 yr rock n roll run and see where they end up

  • schenker is fucking amazing!!!

  • Yesss, the best guitarplayer who ever roamed the earth is back alive and kicking

  • Michael Schenker was never asked into The Stones. Aerosmith..yes he auditioned but Michael wanted to take over the band, so that didn't work. As for OZZY, Michael wanted a "kings ransom", so it didn't happen,either..

  • YES HE WAS asked to join the stones. Michael talks about all of the bands he was offered on his Live in Tokyo DVD.

  • Not sure if perhaps there may be another "Michael Schenker" you're referring to, but, you may want to refrain from reading restroom stalls. They're a highly unreliable source of credible information. In addition, see "ThieleM's" post. cheers ~

  • Whatever you say man, maybe you should start reading up on Michael Schenker, the former guitarist of UFO, and see that what I'm saying is true. But then again whatever. Your rude comment tells me a lot about your mentality. I'll say a prayer for you.

  • Hi "LBjim" : "Reading up"? I've only known the guy for over thirty years. In fact, he bought a guitar from me many years ago. I'm 51 and it's common knowledge among musicians who're familiar with Michael, of the bands he's been asked to audition for. The Rolling Stones being one of them. My comment was indeed correct. You simply don't know what you're talking about. "Whatever man".

  • Comment removed

  • OK. Kevin being right is one thing but being an arrogant ass is another. You qualify for the second one. Show some class in your approach, I mean your 51 years old start acting you age...

  • I'm just a bit confused here. What is even conceivably "arrogant" about simply staing a minor fact? That's weird. I don't have any malice or ill-will towards you nor anyone else. where do you detect "arrogance" or "not having any class" in my simply pointing out you're mistaken or wrong. Would you recommend telling a teacher or Professor they're somehow "arrogant" or "don't have class" because all they did was point out your error? It would appear you're reading something that's not there.

  • You just come across as a condesending person, who thinks his importance in the world is grand.

  • Okay, I'm going to provide you the dignity of even responding. Who was the one who supposedly "corrected" me about my so-called "error" regarding Michael schenker. YOU DID. You don't know me from Adam. Yet, you, flippantly and without doing your own "reading up" on the given topic, make an error YOURSELF! HELLO!? If anything, YOU should be apologizing to ME. I won't be surprised if you don't though. You seem to be sloppy, reckless, and struggle with some personality disorders.

  • Dude, I have moved on apparently you have nothing better to do. Kevin go fuck yourself and get a life!!!

  • All you really had to do was just give a little "oops"! I'm sorry", or, a "my bad". Instead, you chose to be abusive and obscene, and disrespectful. Why? Is this something you deem to be an integral component of being a "good citizen" and would want to convey as good character to your children. I certainly hope not.

Happy Holidays & May God Bless All!

  • in kevin's support, yes michael was asked by the rolling stones. have seen the dvd and other interviews he's given.

  • @LBjim

He deserved a kings ransom! :)

  • I am so glad Michael is clean..Unreal player..Most tasteful player ever..Cort

  • its great to see him sober again.what a talent he is !

  • schenker is AMAZING*

  • Great video position , great pictures mate.Have you got any song in full version ??

  • Michael is one of the better rock-guitarist, with a lot of feeling and a clear playing. Not a shreeder but with lot of style!!!

  • HOly shit great supertasty playin at 2:00!!

the man inspired Randy Rhoads already!

  • Grande !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • On another note. That is the best he has played in over a decade. WOW! There is no doubt in my mind, when he is clean, he is one of the greatest guitar players ever!

  • He didn't turn Ozzy down. He wanted more money than Ozzy was willing to pay.

  • do you know of any guitar players that would turn ozzy down! he was the first pick after randy died , randy loved schenkers playing , but he turned it down ! man what would that have been !

  • Michaels Back on Track!!

  • This is the perspective that I would LOVE to see an entire MSG concert video filmed from. All I EVER WANT too see is Michael & his fingers doing the talking. GREAT JOB ! Thanks !

  • The line up is Gary singing, Rev Jones on Bass, Pete Holmes Drummin', and Wayne Findlay on Guitar and Keys. Your going to love it!!!

  • you really did very good work man congratualations on your effort and vid quite sharp

Can sum1 tell me what's the line up ?

That'll be a fucking killer gig yeap.

  • Pure insanity!!! Michael looks absolutely amazing! The greatest ever!

  • Dude,

Your editing is SICK! That is absolutely killer! What is that lead that he's playing after the 2 minute mark? It's all good, but that totally blows me away.

P.S. I'm going to see him tonight in Redondo Beach. yeah!

  • Great video & audio...I loved this show...it was well worth the 14 hour ride to get to see the Great MSG!! They most certainly did destroy Cleveland, great venue and great people there also!!

  • Great clips. Prime video footage and the audio is great also.

  • I saw him in Chicago on June 29 and he was AWESOME - the best I've ever seen him play in 10 times over the last 17 years.

  • I just saw him in Concord CA.... He was better than I ever heard. Its as though an old friend has returned.

  • that intro to Lost Horizons just slays me...always has. Next, the great riffing of Attack of Mad Axeman. ..plus many more.....THANKS FOR SHARING! cool compilation.

  • Niceeee! Still can´t believe he´s coming to Brazil for the first time... Yeaaaah!

  • Very nice!

So great to see Michael in top form!!!

  • are these the only clips u have?

it'd be awesome if u could post more!
