But Goofy is little more respectable because he hasn't got as many draw backs & has more redeeming qualities than Rory. Anyway, Romana had no love interest. Neither did Zoe. Or Ace. Or Mel. Or Nyssa. Or Tegan. Well, Ace was very promiscuous in the novels, but thats another topic. And Amy HAS evolved; the River Song arc has shown that at least. And I think Rory has proven again that all male companions (except Adric) are awesome.

Adric's death was at least poignant. None of Rory's were. Why do you think that is? Because he's an exceptionally badly written character. Even the "fans" who hated Adric admit that his death was poignant. Adric was infinitely better than Rory, at least he was his own character, who did things of his own accord & didn't just travel with the Dr to follow his gf around.

@neondiscoball Except there is no difference between Old and Nu Who. And for the record, Rory's deaths ARE poignant (though slightly marred by his constant ressurrections). At least the first two were sad in the proper sense. Rory isn't badly written at all; the past two series has definitely shown his development as The Last Centurion. The only problem is that he's overshadowed by Amy, and we all know why that is. And "follow his gf around?" He's bloody married to her! Of course he follows her!

All the stories are still connected & rely on shocks just like a dated soap opera. There are still the incessant story arcs, series 5 one being the worst as it was identical to the Futurama's & a lot like the crack in Doomsday. It was not his fault thou he fell through a crack in time and when that happened did you not see the pain in Amy's eyes she obviously in pain.
