  • I am glad the people at the Columbus and Philly shows I went to were not a bunch of assholes like the ones on this comment panel .

  • Gran banda de rock

  • It's brilliant how Josh can play such intricate and complex riffs and sing at the same time

  • Damn right. That's how Josh does it. He speeds a lot of the stuff up that he does live. Makes for a more energetic show. To the 9 haters...get a new hobby. These cats can do no wrong.

  • John Paul Jones

    Dave Grohl

    Josh Homme

Reminds me of Cream. And that can only be a good thing.

  • JPJ bass fail at 0:43 ):

  • I miss the clavinet :(

  • Finally a band that plays real music, and does it so amazingly.

  • its a new kind of fucking grat musik i hope it starts a new era in musik.. BRING BACK THE ROCKNROLL!!!! fuck jeah ..

  • @lastmadcow gay? GAY? Them Crooked Vultures, or anything with Josh Homme is the most amazing sound there is! you trying coming up with something as original as the stuff he does, and then you might be able to talk, but until then, shut up.

  • @lastmadcow

    You have good grammar?

  • @lastmadcow YOU ARE INFERIOR.

  • come to phoenix!!!

  • hahahahahahahahahaha.....@ " Does anyone say anything in these comments that isn't bitching at each other? You sound like a bunch of dickheads." i fhuckn agree...shut ya fhuckn whingn up ya sissy whingn khuntyz...

  • Theyre true to each of their roots from former bands (Zep, Foo, Queens). Altogether a pretty good rock super group I think..

  • Does anyone say anything in these comments that isn't bitching at each other? You sound like a bunch of dickheads.

  • I'm with you! Shut up and enjoy the great music you have the privelage of being able to hear you bunch of planks! xxxx

  • Arguing over labels, jeez dudes, get a life or make your own music...

  • labels like "grunge" stoner rock " , those are words invented by journalists to describe an entire genre or movement , so as to make their already worthless jobs easier. These are the same writers who give album reviews after hearing an album one time .

  • Why does everyone argue about what genre this is? It clearly doesn't matter if it sounds damn good, and it does.

Jone Paul Jones, Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, and Alain Johannes are all talented and I hope they keep up this project for a while. Hopefully, Homme and Grohl get back to their bands in time though.

  • Thesed guys are great! Reminds me of Beefheart.

  • You all are cracking me up.......... Just because it's a "personal" opinion doesn't mean take it personal. LOL. What someone else thinks about the music I like never made me not like it any more or less. So who cares???????????????? I like Nirvana. I like Zepplin. I like Foo Fighters...... so blah blah blah. go buy yours today.

  • Hopefully the tide is shifting and we are seeing a new era in good music

  • @40Rtruss

If anybody can do it...TCV can.

  • I will check that out

Many thanks for the tip on that

  • @40Rtruss and don't forget The Drive~By Truckers!!!

  • @40Rtruss That's right. A new ERA Vulgaris! Hahaha!!!

  • @40Rtruss I feel like that too man, I have so much hope. It looks as though odd numbered decades are good for music.

  • @40Rtruss cept the problem is, all these guys are from the last era, LMAO!

  • @40Rtruss It would take a supergroup to do that very thing. Lets all pray.

  • TheConstruct is right, this is not classic rock in the 60s/70s tradition. I don't know what you'd call it, apart from great, but there's a real soul feel to that bass groove JPJ has going. Seein' them tomorrow nite - woo hoo!!

  • Love this number. I dont get why the crowd isnt going ape shit crazy... I know i would.

  • i heard there coming out with another album in the summer

  • Cheers to this band!! great fuckin song, cannot beat real music made by talented musicians.....thx to josh and dave for hooking up with john.....he must be just about as happy as you guys are...it shows!!!

    great song!

  • these guys absoulely rock, watched an interview with JPJ and hes down for more records and tours, love cruisin in my truck to these tunes the whole cd rocks so hard

  • have you pee on yourself?!!..dammd god..

  • @muskypucker before i read your comment, i thought the exact same thing.

  • Wait a minute, is that Nick Oliveri on the right?

  • I would rather listen to FF and QOTSA.

  • go ahead

  • so i guess you are a fan jonas fags brothers. am i right????

  • @TheConstruct >.> classic rock in 2009 makes perfect sense dumbass

  • it was a joke...

  • @TheConstruct

God damn you are dumb, then again this is your opinion, but who are you to say that

  • That is your opinion as well Spearchucker3. I know real classic rock when I hear it and it's not this.

  • @TheConstruct i guess you are a fucking retard

  • TheConstruct sucks balls of Jonas

  • @jmv915 lol, that's right. jpj is one of the best musician in the world all times

  • oh my god im having an orgasm!!!! they totally rule dude!!!!!!!! my new favorite band them crooked vultures

  • Me too, Sunday in Blackpool

  • ...hehehe!...Sunday in Blackpool too!!..

  • This sounds like Cream, in a good way; in fact, very much like their ' Outside Woman Blues'.

  • I agree. But better for a fact. They have nailed that summer of love sound big time. And then throwing in that Hendrix octavia, pure insane sweetness.

  • Comment removed

  • Since when do you speak for everyone kid? Obviously your knowledge of music history is limited compared to mine.

  • don't send me your bullshit buddy , I don't care

  • Run along coward. My true words hit to close to your bone I guess. JPJ is too good for the rest of this band.

  • Comment removed

  • Bullshit and JPJ disagree with you mate. That's the essence of rock and roll. If you're gonna get snootty listen to fucking jazz.

  • @TheConstruct these are good players but i am not moved, except by the always unique mr. jones. you feel it or you don't

  • Since when do YOU speak for everyone? It's a widely held opinion that TCV is good. Homme has music cred. So does JPJ and Grohl. (Obviously JPJ has more cred, but you get the idea.) I'm not trying to argue with you, but it seems pretty senseless to watch a band you don't like.

  • Hey spicyboy I speak for myself but since I've obviously been around alot longer than you and know more about music than you ever will you can step aside. Let me guess.. You're some hump that jumped on the bullshit 'Grunge' bandwagon back in the day right? When I tell you this is NOT classic rock it's because it is NOT classic rock. It's only idiots like you that are tossing that lable on this band just like you tossed the 'Grunge' lable on bands in 91.

  • I never said they were classic rock. Are you reading my post at all? And I wasn't born until 93' so I missed the whole Nirvana thing. I wouldn't consider them grunge at all. In fact, I think grunge is a dumb fucking name that doesn't describe anything. TCV classic rock? Get the fuck out. Now. Go beat off to your old Motley Crue albums.

  • Good job you hump showing me that you agree this band is not 'Classic Rock'. Now how about you shut up kid?

  • Sunday in blackpool :D

  • I am soooo fucking excited about seeing these guys play tomorrow night. AAARRRGHHHH I CANT WAIT!!!!

  • is it just me or does Josh Homme sound Irish/English at the start when he's introducing the song? or is it JPJ talking?

  • i like it, original or not

  • too many similarities between cream and TCV.. singing...the trio.. (not to mention that cream was the first real supergroup, similar to TCV)

    ROCK AND ROLL KNUKKAS!

  • with all respect to Josh and Alain , there is no Clapton in this band.

  • steve winwood with blindfaith

  • there is a touch of cream in there, thats good, and the vocal reminds me of the beatles "my love dont give me presents".

rock has developed to the stage where it is very hard to do anything NEW and so have most genres and its the same in art and architecture.

enthusiasts are always receptive to new bands presenting quality material, and it doesnt have to be new or different. many bands have tried novelty to set themselves apart and it doesnt take long before the novelty wears off.

  • blackhawk idiot, come out of your cave of naiviety, of course nothing is new nowadays, what we hope for is great takes on existing themes and these guys provide loads of it, crwal back under your ignorant rock

  • u dont know what the fuck you are talking about

  • Comment removed

  • blackhawk, let's face it. Not an inch of progress in Rock going on in the last 11 or 12 years. If anything, Rock is devolving. This band at least plays a good style which I can't say the same for most bands these days.

  • if you want to see the epitome of a literally nonprogressive self proclaimed progressive band, i suggest you check out "Chickenfoot." setting aside my hatred for Joe Satriani, i can honestly say that although there are huge amounts of talent, throwing RHCP and ex-Van Halen members into a pile and calling it progressive material is a huge slap in the face to rock fans. JPJ and Grohl are at least trying to add two generations of music together to make a new generation of music.

  • It occurs to me that much of the criticism of my comment(s) springs from the fact the desire for there to be something new. But the only choice(s) available are rehashes of the best of the past. Rock fans are frustrated by the absence of progress, but placated while they wait by bands like this. Why does JPJ look like he's doing nothing? Because he isn't doing anything he hasn't done before--therefore, he really isn't doing anything and I doubt that he would argue.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd suggest you address you comments to "davidpo". If questioning the validity of a band's claim to be progressive hurts someone's feelings, then I suggest they learn to think for themselves, rather than be so easily swayed by opinions other than their own. As for your opinion, perhaps you should follow your own suggestion, instead of trying to shut down a legitimate discussion of the future of popular music.

  • Comment removed

  • In a few words you've told us a great deal about yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't dislike it. I just find it interesting that in an age when so much technological progess is being made, there doesn't seem to be much creative progress. 'Scumbag Blues' sounds like Cream. If I were cracking wise I'd say TCV was little more than a 'tribute band.' But why go on? We simply don't agree. No harm intended.

  • actually, in an interview with ultimate-guitar . com, he stated that he's always tried switching up his sound and that one should "Never get stuck in a rut-- only a groove." so, i half agree with your comment, and half disagree. he's got the same sound, but he's doing something different with Grohl and Homme, here. i don't particularly like it that much, but it's new, it's rock, and it's going to be revolutionary so long as they stay together and JPJ doesn't die from old age.

  • Easy with the 'old age' stuff, rgbyboi. JPJ and I probably take the same vitamins. Even though I may question what they're doing, I certainly don't question their motive for doing it. Keep on rockin.

  • sorry if i came off "age-ist." it's just that in the experience i have with music, i get more and more nervous with every passing year that one of my favorites will expire. if the drugs and guns don't get them at an early age, then surely the wear and tear will catch up to them sooner or later. i guess it was just a poor choice of words hahaha.

you keep on rocking as well

  • 'eamonosu' makes a good point. you guys who think are making me reconsider my position.

  • I once worked with a bass player who liked to step up to the mic between songs and say, "If you didn't like the last one, you're gonna hate the next one." I suddenly remembered him when I listened to Cf.

  • @1glass milk & vladiato the rhythm guitarist is alain johannes he's been involved with homme 4 ages with Queens of the Stone Age & other related projects,so he deserves 2 be there & should get alot more recognition than he does

  • this song is okay,at best nothing that rad like zep, foo's or the queens for that matter. I don't know maybe it'll grown on me,will see...

  • the keyboards are like in Custard Pie. Same effect.

  • organ is an instrument not a state. But yes, they are kickass.

  • Best fuckin band in tha world!!!

I can't wait to see these guys in Texas!

I love tha oregon they put in this song.

  • surprisingly good vid. gotta love them

  • Dave Grohl is hittin the crap out of that bass drum

  • I read that Jack Bruce thought Zeppelin was shit. He said the only good member is dead. This song is called 'Scumbag Blues'. Hey, who doesn't like Cream? Even with the obvious "fuck you", they still lay it down.

  • yeah i read that too and i did wonder if jack bruce would think this was a cream rip off hahaha..the vocals are very strange brew...josh sounds like a young clapton on this tune :-)

  • Its very Creamish..but i doubt Jack cares..

And osh sings more like Jack tham Clapton on this one in my opinion..Cool thing is that i said several years ago that Qotsa is the Cream of the 21 th century..and seems more and moree true..hehe

  • JOSH

  • only thing a hate about this band is when they play live that there is that guy on the right doing nothing most of the time..

  • T'is the hubris of the rhythym guitarist. I don't understand why they didn't just get a fourth famous person.

    Oh well.

  • It's an Alembic Bass

  • No, it's a custom Manson 4 string. He also has a 8 string, a 10 string , and a 12 string. I don't even wanna know how much they cost

  • Imitation best form of flattery. I don't really think they can be compared to cream though.

  • anyone know what kind of bass jpj is using here?

  • my husband told me they sounded like Cream but holy crap, it's amazing. His voice even reminds me of Clapton

  • I think Jack Bruce sang most of the Cream song.

  • That's sad since he sounds nothing like Clapton but yeah they are equally weak I suppose.. There's a reason why Jack Bruce never let Clapton sing until the anniversary gig as he managed to gather some fanfare over the years.

Anyway, I'm loving this album though, not the least bit of originality involved but finally some raw rock n' roll since the 1st Wolfmother album.

  • you are a fool

  • wolfmother are a lot of wannabes .

  • Wolfmother? You mean that band that everyone thought was Zeppelin but shitty?

  • If "everyone" was illiterate enough to think so, then yeah.

  • cream are shit !

  • who the fuck is the lemon on the lights ? Nice rig - too many buttons for the operator I think...sack him...hire me. I will paint the stage with light to your sounds

  • I think the lights suit them fine. It doesnt matter how many buttons there are, any "lemon" would have chase, wash, and whatever scenes set up so you dont have to push 48304976 buttons a show

  • that was a nice 60 second solo. im sold i have to get this album

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT A FUCKING TUUUUUUUUUUUNE

  • This song is pretty good, but why the hell is john paul jones playing with these guys?

  • why not? maybe he likes it better than doing songs from the 70s over and over?

  • Simple.

Old Legend of Rock + New Legends of Rock = Greatest Supergroup of all time

  • Yeah they are like Cream

  • fuck im so exited im going to see them in january!! :)

  • lucky man!!!!!!!!

    they miss hungary :(

  • CREAM!

  • yep sounds like strange brew

  • yeeaaah

  • Its so good to see John Paul Jones in a band again.

  • i love music!

  • Yeah, good music, like this one

  • has anyone here seen the south park episode "make love not warcraft" season 10. well you sir (fckinguy) are clearly the fat guy sitting at home playing warcraft. your having a go at all these 'pissed off teens' having 'disscutions' with you when all your doing is trying to sound tough. and you have a youtube app on your fucking phone. fuck mate. talk about needing to get a life. congratulations dude you have succeded in life.

  • get your hate out there man, cus youtube is your psychiatrist!

  • man, the same argument is still going on? c'mon guys, enough already.

he's good, he's bad, he's amazing, he sucks. so what? he's still out there playing with some of the best musicians, making good music that is, at least, not the majority of rubbish you hear on radio everyday. u really wana be a hater? go to some chester bennington video instead, i heard he's got some new project.

  • if anyone reads this and thinks of replying to any one of my comments - DONT. i dont give a fuck and would love to just drop the subject. pissed off teenagers who have no place to vent, and at the same time, are on this bands dick is the last thing i need to deal with. pissed off? dont like the comments? try to be an adult and suck it up - it's just an opinion - no need to slit your wrists over it.

  • I like Josh's tone. Excellent sound. He plays good enough to be in this band. What band are you in again? oh....never heard of ya.

  • mission impossible RIFF

  • I got goosebumps. Josh, led,and dave Never LET ME DOWN!!!!!....wait for the clapping

  • "i dont know what it is... but i must be attracting the dumbest fucking ppl on youtube"

when you try to remain outspoken about music, itll happen 100% of the time. not too bright, obviously.

the real winner is who gets over it first.

  • stretched!

  • you all talk too fucking much . shut up.

  • "How ya doin, are you alright?"

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAOOO!

  • this video is stretched like laffy taffy!

  • Jones is God. Period. =D

October 9th, Sound Academy, Toronto.. FUCK YEA!!!!!!!

  • it is truly a sad fucking world were we once were exposed to artists like page, clapton, bb king, buddy guy, alvin lee, hendrix, and etc.... guitarists who really fucking blew ppl away with sheer skill and talent.

and here we are in 2009 where the "best" guitarist is pushing music so fucking simple and a 10 year old can play it.... like i said before, there are dozens of blues players who wil rip apart josh as far as knowing the guitar and how to pay it. our standards are so sad....

  • You know what else is sad? People who spend their entire lives posting in the comments for a single YouTube video and bitching. Bitch one, alright, whatever, you can do that, but you don't have to troll the joint and return regularily to speak your mind. Dude: no one cares what you have to say. It's clear that no one here seems to like you, and no one wants you here. Go away.

  • Hey man, didn't you learn anything from kindergarden? Just leave it be man! If someone is replying negativley to your comment, and your comments seem to be ranking up a lot of negative rating, then DON'T RETURN TO COUNTER-COMMENT! You just end up looking like an idiot! Just stop replying, and you can save yourself from making yourself look like a fool.

  • josh homme is the single biggest talent in rock music today period

  • Don't forget Alain Johannes from the mix. Just because he is the least famous of the four does not mean he isn't talented. I saw them last night in Columbus and Alain holds his own in some pretty huge company. Jonesey was playing like 16 string Basses haha. Unbelievable how good they are after only 11 shows.

  • JUDGE TUBE

  • ok, if that's the case, it's simple: they are three of the best musicians of our time. although, i don't see anyone saying anything like what u mentioned in any of their comments.

NOT THE BEST, but SOME of the best. no one is better than the other, all are different style and it's unfair to say one is lesser than the other.

  • it's pretty similar to sabbath solo style too in away.

and as for playing a long time and being better, he actually is. he was prolly only half as good during his kyuss days. they were way too simple back then. i don't wana get into the whole guitar-playing thing too, but i maintain that his singing not as good as his guitar.

i guess it's an acquired taste, like pink floyd or sigur ros. i've some metalhead friends like him too, some don't. same goes to my other friends who love other genres.

  • he didn't play it "musically correct", cz some of his playing revolve about the haphazard and sometimes even not in tune "style". believe me, when i first heard little sister by qotsa, i felt like the solo was shit. a few listen made realised that it's actually not as bad as it is unorthodox.

  • and what about Era Vulgaris. I willingly admit i don't know shit about the guitar except what i have learned from listening to music, teaching myself to play, and what my guitar toting friends enlighten me with but, the whole album sounds out of tune except "Make it Witchyu". And thats exactly why i love it. Its all guitars but it is the strangest noises i've heard come from a guitar.

  • its tough being a scumbag

  • This is so Led Zeppelin. The sound of 70s..pass the joint, please...

  • well, IF u were referring to me, note that i never said "phenomenal".

anyway, wat did u expect? some aeophrygmyxolydian scale with sweeping appregios at 10 mil notes/second?? ur funny...

when someone like JPJ calls u up and would love to do an album with u, it says a hell lot.

again, like i said, he's a great songwriter and quite a good guitarist to boot. mayb not singing, that's all. they way u put it tells us that u know little about him, but felt compelled to dish some "expert opinion".
