This is the level that stumped me. I'd make it through occasionally, but never with enough lives to make it past the two or three other stages needed to reach a place to save. Then I'd have to beat the damned giant bee and snow level all over again.

Man, the barrel at 2:43 brings back a faint but sublime memory of trying to get through this level. The white blizzard snow and the green and yellow bees spinning around between barrels, the ambient echoing music... and then this fascinating secret.

This level, this game, this music; sublime moments of childhood.

Ok, stupid question. I just got done playing this game for the first time in like 10 years or more. I don't remember if you were able to get the other kong on your back and trow him around to reach places or kill enemies. Is that only for DKC 2 and 3? I thought you were able to do it in DKC 1 as well. Please let me know....I cannot seem to make it happen. I am playing a emulator version and it might be that is corrupt or something.

This game was amazing for its time. Just look at the backgrounds of this level. You can see mountains in the distance, and the trees look very realistic. Despite the fact that the game was very simple, the environment was incredible.

These are the scrappy levels of the game. Up until here it was cakewalk. Now, that your ass is in a GODDAMN SNOWSTORM, shit gets serious. Have fun dying. A fucking lot. It all pays off, though, when you reach Fear Factory and hear that awesome ass song

I found that one secret barrel where it takes you across the whole second half by accident. I thought I was going to die when I fell past the barrels only visible by the camera but I then fell into the secret auto barrel. Really fun!

There's nothing new with this technique as it is used in few 8-bit console games.

Glad I never used it. I had a promotional DKC video that showed me it was worth taking this stage on like a man.

Seriously though, the final long stretch of barrels, by transitioning to each one with ZERO hesitation, you'll receive a little bonus at the end. =)

This is my most memorable level, remember playing while it was actually snowing outside, then in the game you see the snow storm get closer until it's a blizzard, awesome music as well.
