  • To address the comment above... all the faired recumbent bikes are way harder to ride than one might suspect. Riders of regular diamond frame bikes can't just get in and go. So, Mr Wiggins might do well, but based upon my observations and the comments made by the racers at Battle Mountain, it would take quite some time before he was competitive.

  • I suspect if you put Bradley Wiggins in that thing, he would put the record over 90 mph.

  • Look up Gold Medalist Jason Queally's attempt in 2001, he didn't even come close to Sam's record and sponsors invested a lot of money in his bike..

  • I'm pretty sure Queally didn't use Whittingham's bike. In HPV, having the best bike is often more important than having the best engine. As BikerCK said, nobody's going to just get in and go in an HPV, even a pro. But the combination of the best rider, training, and bike will likely push this record eventually to over 100 mph.

  • I guess that's also a centimach HPV run!

  • Mr Whittingham, would you kindly step this way for a dope test? It's just a formality, sir.

  • Hey Sam
