Honestly, what WAS she doing prior to this scene that she was so horrendously winded? I truly wish someone would knock this mediocre soprano from her perch. If being beautiful is all you need to become world famous in the opera world, I sincerely fear for the future of this timeless art.
It's just the truth... She's not AAAAWFUL but she's not the best! Just that... And also it's true that she's that famous cause she's very beautiful more than for the singing. Anyway it's not a bad version at all, I just prefer others! That are maybe not so good lucking in the outside but are more near from perfect singing=P And I AM A SINGER, for the ones that say you gotta sing to get an opinion.

By the way I am a 30 yo soprano who has similar size and color of voice as Anna... so I definitely understand some of her rep not being always right for her. She is a lyric to full lyric (not spinto) and even at my stage of the game I get differing opinions on what I should sing. some say the lighter stuff (like Susanna and Zerlina) and then some ask when I sing that stuff why the hell I'm singing it. And in this economy how can one turn down something though while not right won't hurt a voice.

She, certainly, has the good voice, and got very lucky circumstances. Many voices, not worse than hers, are going through life unnoticeably. My own, probably, can be the example, as in my youth I sound not worse or better. So what? Many voices worse than hers are getting noticed because of their families' wealth or whichever else. What is the idea to place here her video and pour dirt on her performance I do not understand.

I don't think you can't criticize someone if you don't do the thing as good as the person...:) For example, many singing teachers have never stood on the stage and through they can be good teachers - and their pupils can be better singers than the teachers someday..:) If I say something to this aria, I think this is not of her best. But if you listen to anything else, it is mostly fantastic, so for me Anna is an excellent singer and I will admire her until I will sing as well as she.

Im with leoperarm on this. I'm sorry to say that I am not fond of Miss Netrebko's singing at all, and this is just one of the many examples of her voice's mucky heaviness and lack of attention to detail.
Why these people are bashing her? She is just a gorgeous women and an amazing soprano. I believe that these people are loosers (a miserable excuse for a human being, who under performs and cannot deal with envy). Netrebko is still young and she gets better and better in her acting and singing! Anna was named operas leading lady in a March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas. They should be ashamed! Leave Anna alone and get a life!

Unfortunately she thinks differently. In fact she keeps "singing" coloratura roles with the results we all know.
Of course we are just envious loosers though LOL
God I'm always wondering how much money her label pays magazines newspapers and award academies.

Why these people are bashing her? She is just a gorgeous women and an amazing soprano. I believe that these people are loosers (a miserable excuse for a human being, who under performs and cannot deal with envy). Netrebko is still young and she gets better and better in her acting and singing! Anna was named operas leading lady in a March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas. They should be ashamed! Leave Anna alone and get a life!

En tout cas, je trouve qu'elle est tres bonne, sauf qu'elle manque un peu de confiance dans l'intonation.
Sinon, elle est tres jeune je trouve, donc elle a evidemment beaucoup de talent qui embellit tous les jours!
J'adore son jeu sur scene!

Oui, elle est assez bonne.. je ne l'aimais pas mais maintenant j'admets qu'elle n'est pas trop mauvaise. J'aime sa Violetta et j'vais voir sa Lucia [di Lammermoor] le mois prochain.
on peut soutenir qu'elle est une actrice tres douée, mais quelquefois elle a des petits problemes avec la diction/musique..

Batti batti, no es peor que La ci darem...solo cuando lo canta la Netrebko XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD pero el aria esta bastante bien (bien cantada por una soubrette, o por alguien que no tenga una voz tan pesada como la suya...)
