The Panthers have been not successful since really g4 of 1996 Stanley cup finals ended yeah they did have that little run in 199-2000 but overall they need a change in how they do buisness and marketing.I am hoping the new ownership group has a good plan because there is room for everybody in S Florida sports

This was the year of the 'Rat Craze' when the Panthers made their unlikely playoff run & fans tossed rubber rats on the ice after every goal during the playoffs. All started when Scott Mellanby killed a rat in the team's dressing room then went out & scored 2 goals in FLA's season opener; after the game, goalie John Vanbiesbrouck said "2 goals & a dead rat, that's a RAT Trick". And that's when it all began...:-)

Make no wonder FLA has struggled since then, because they haven't been in the playoffs since 2000 & haven't won a series since beating Pittsburgh in 1996. But the Panthers are finally playing well again in 2009 & I think they'll make the playoffs again for the 1st time in a LONG time...

I'm a Sens fan but this is an awesome intro, the Panthers better turn it around down there fast otherwise the Jets are coming back, which I'd love to see. PS the Panthers owner lost $90 million over the last six years. (Just ti show how bad they're doin' there)

@TGear8 Why would Bettman do that when he can use revenue sharing (aka Canadian hockey fans' money) to bail out teams in Sunrise, Phoenix, and Tampa? This is never ending. As long as he's commish, he can keep bailing out these failing teams.
