It was available on mailorder only, but will probably crop up on the Deluxe Edition of 'Wish' ... or at least it had better ... no more crappy home demos please Robert! Grrrr ... BTW This is the song that got me into The Cure. I used to write all these flowery ornate lyrics then heard Robert sing, "How did we get this far apart, we used to be so close together" ... and flipped ...

This one is far too sincere to be just a song. To be frank, most of The Cure is fairly honest but there was no motive with this one outside of expression as what my ears tell me. There's songs that just rip you because they're so down like 'Cold' but you'd have to intentionally reach into the intestines of your soul to produce it. This one was just 'get your instruments, I have something to say'. This is music is my kind of cigarette.

You can hear the ending of something as it crashes to the ground like a flying porcelain plate. I'm sure you can also hear the sound of something great beginning. That's what makes The Cure great. I think this song is about death. He is gone, and can't come back. He still cares about her but there is nothing he can do from the otherside. She wants to die too. He can't call anymore. He just wants her to make it thru and go on without him. I know from experience I found my husband 3o yrs old. Dead due to natural causes, and we never knew he was sick. I can never get back to him now. Its been close to 6 years since I could handle listening to the cure again without wanting to die.

I see what you mean and you're right. "Wish" has some "colourful and grey" tracks. But I was pointing to the depressing and dark mode in the style of Pornography and Disintegration. This song has these characteristics and I think it's the only one that shows them precisely than the other songs of the "Wish" Album.
