  • stop yelling please

  • Best Brussels sprouts I've ever made (attempted it 3 times and they always sucked). 63 year old Dad who hated them, loved the recipe! Great video!

  • @ZyklonPsyklon

yep--I was the same way--I never had a good thing to say about a brussels sprout until I started cooking them like this.

  • I cooked Brussels Sprouts (i pre boiled them in low water first) like this for the first time. and you defiantly gave me the inspiration i needed (and guidance) thank you! Cajun and lemon were key!

    THANK YOU!

  • @nea1186

great!....and I agree, the lemon juice and a little zest are definitely key--I won't make this dish unless I have a lemon in the fridge.

  • Tonight is the night !....Monkeyballs are gonna pass these lips !

  • @cisjohn2616

ha! --now that's a line not to be taken out of context. Hope you enjoy.

  • Monkey Balls!!!!!!! lol

  • I hope my kid doesnt have a bad memory of brussel sprouts... i do marinated them in oil and spices in the new wave oven or sautee them until cooked. Either way, there has to be some fat in there.

  • I HATED brussel sprouts before I tried this recipe!!!!!!!!! it is AWESOME and I am cooking them again tonight because they turned out so good. I did add parm cheese on top at the end right before serving. WOW.

  • @jrmpcdr

I love this comment. I used to feel exactly the same way about brussels sprouts, and now it's one of my favorites.

  • u da man, but wheres your beer?

  • Love the last bit.. 'I am just a middle-aged man trying not to have a heart attack' LOLLZ

  • @divinita1000

hmmm...and today I'm editing a very rich Linguine with Clam Sauce video--I guess I've put my heart health on hold--I wonder how that's gonna work out for me? Maybe I'll go for a walk, just in case.

  • Lol thanks man now I can cook this for the Fam... funny shyt to dude XD

  • "Un film de Buck Redbuck"

    On est en Louisiane ?

    Man that looks good!

  • "but really it just tasted like a monkeys testicles" lmao I luv this guy... lol

  • This was amazing! I had never had brussel sprouts, but they were selling them on the branch at the grocery store and I always end up buying weird looking foods. This was the first recipe that came up when I searched. AMAZING.

The only thing I did different was toss with parmesan at the end before eating. I recommend it!

  • I need to try that recipe! They look awesome. I just got done making some and should have looked for your recipe BEFORE I made mine! Although, I fry a couple slices of bacon, get a fine chop on the bacon, saute the lightly salted and peppered Brussels sprouts with the bacon bits, and then add a some balsamic vinegar towards the end. delish.

  • @drmoroe

that sounds like a pretty tasty way to prepare brussels sprouts (I don't think I ever met a slice of bacon I didn't like)

  • I think you might be Chuck Norris's half brother!!!

  • you definately know what you're talking about, and the recipe was delicious, but your voice is moderately annoying. great video.

  • I'm subscribing

  • looks delish! subscribing now :)

  • wonderful video. very nice. you made me laugh

  • 3:17 I can't Believe its not butter..!!

  • WHY Cut them? I loe them whole! :)))

  • @INSANEBOUNCER

Whenever I see a whole one, it reminds me of the boiled brussels sprouts my mom made me eat when I was a kid (blah! I might even like them boiled now...it's been decades since I had them plain and boiled). For this recipe, slicing them reduces the cooking time, but the main reason is because the flat edges will lay nice in the skillet so you can get a nice sear on them...and also, if you got a big knife. then sometimes it's just fun to cut things.

  • @FromUnderTheRock PLUS they aren't a steam bomb like when you bite into a whole sprout. This stuff is good.

  • @KruNae

    "steam bomb"...I like that :^)

  • That looks great. I'm going out to buy some brussels sprouts and try this. Your vid was entertaining to look at.

  • @wishpackers

Thanks a lot, and thanks for the kind comments...I hope you like it.

  • @FromUnderTheRock You're welcome. I just subscribed!

  • this recipe is fantastic! thanks so much!!!

  • just made it. simple easy recipe! and lemon is keey. :)

  • @dizmi

I agree...a little lemon juice and zest makes a BIG difference.

  • I like how he used a strainer for the lemon juice...that's real cooking

  • I THINK THAT I'M GOING TO GIVE THIS A TRY..BUT NOT FOR THE HOLIDAY...JUST IN CASE...LOL.. :D

  • @maryhadalittlelamb25

"just in case" is a good attitutude to have during the holidays--that's how you get through it with the fewest injuries :^) !! But definitely give this recipe a try sometime...it's delicious.

  • Dude, this is the first video of yours I've watched...you are a VERY entertaining guy. I lol'd watching this. Thanks:)

  • You funnyyyyyyyyyyy

  • This is fucking awesome

  • This recipe was great...and it did NOT taste like monkey testicles...SCORE! I never had brussel sprouts before and I'm so glad I ran across this video coz I think I have found my new go to veggie. Thanks, Man! Great recipe!

  • @TheStrokesChick

Thanks...and I'm with you--I was never a fan of Brussels sprouts until I started preparing them this way; when I was a kid, my mom just boiled Brussels sprouts (ugh!--but I still love her--and one day I may even forgive her).

  • i eat it for the first time and i like it so muuuch thank you for the video

  • @mayasirem

I had this dish again tonight...it's addictive (not ice cream addictive, but pretty addictive for a vegetable!)

  • Very nice. I like this. Thank you.

  • going to try this

  • LOL! You are hiliarious. I'm going to make this tonight. Thanks for the recipe. ;-)

  • @January6th I hope this recipe works for your taste buds--I love it--I had hamburgers and tater tots for dinner tonight...hopefully I'll get back to Brussels sprouts by the end of the week

  • Im pregnant and there's not many things that I can eat and keep down lately but OMG I just made this and its delicious! Thanks so much.

  • @Motions86

    that's awesome...and I bet your baby will be a genius...congrats.

  • excellent finishing line! just subscribed to ur channel! keep it up pls :)

  • You are so funny dude! Made my day with your funny monkey balls video!

  • fucking cool man

we ate that shit the other day mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm pretty good

  • you are a legend. you make superb dishes

  • I love your accent!! I can't wait to try this!!

  • I hate brusel sprouts

  • Thank you Buck Redbuck, for this very easy peasy lemon squeezy recipe. I have learned one very important lesson:

Brussel sprouts are the bomb man.

I use regular onions, a Habanero hot sauce, teeny bit of sesame oil (<1 tsp), butter (hey, I'm in my 20's), and last time a bit of soy sauce, so slightly different....But I will never underestimate the use of lemon when making these tasty veggies. Good recipe Buck Redbuck.

  • this guy scared me a minit :D

    TODAY WHERE GONA MAKE!

me] O.O *backs away alitle* HEHEHE

:D lol *Watches* o3o HAHAHA MONKEY BALLS! hahah oh my god this guy is so fucking awsome !

  • this guy scared me a minit :D

    TODAY WHERE GONA MAKE!

me] O.O *backs away alitle* HEHEHE

    :D lol *Watches* o3o

  • i did somethin similar to this one, but added mincemeat, maybe not as good for the health plan....yeah, i hated brussel sprouts too, but now im a convert, theyre kinda nutty in flavour

  • excellent recipe i did something similar last year with garlic and onions and your right it jazzes them sprouts right up, only thing is i boil my sprouts a little before frying takes place.

  • fuckin portalized lol! sooo good!

  • YUM <3

  • hey Buck, me and a couple friends made these last night for (with) dinner and they were awesome!

  • @kookiemoose

man, that's exactly what I love to hear!

thanks for giving the recipe a go :^)

  • looks amazing :O

  • @machogun

    And tastes amazing!

  • I've never had brussels sprouts but they sure do look amazing prepared this way. I make my squash the same way except I cut em in big chunks so that they maintain their integrity and don't fall apart and the seeds don't come out. They get nice and blackened and I just add a little pepper and lawrys seasoned salt. I will definitely be trying this if I ever try and grow brussels sprouts... they look wonderful. Yummeh in my tummeh!

  • @jujutubes

That never occured to me---but it sounds like an excellent idea...I'm going to substitute squash in this recipe and have a taste---thanks for the tip! I've incorporated squash into our diet with some regularity, but I haven't yet found a way to eat it that thrills me --although I do like squash in vegetarian chili.

  • @FromUnderTheRock let me know how it works for ya. I love your cooking vids =D

  • Lol that actually looks really good. xD

  • Favved that one, looks tasty :)

  • I hate brussel sprouts but that actually looks good

  • @colemckelviedotca

I'm hoping this vid will go viral and convert millions into Brussels sprout addicts. My broker hooked me up with some Brussels Sprouts stock and my goal is to create a spike and sell high.

  • @FromUnderTheRock really? cool. I hope that toooo.

  • I'd like to see Camera Girl do your taste test at the end of these videos

  • @carlblemming

I'd like to too...but she's not a big fan of being IN THE VIDEO. I haven't figured out if she's camera shy or uppity.

  • Pienso que voy a preparar brussel sprouts en esa manera!

  • @Elusefelier

Es un plato delicioso. ¡Espero que usted goce de la receta! Gracias por mirar :^)

  • I tried not to have a heart attack. FAILED! They say I'll have the big one in about 8 years. We'll see.

  • @VirtuallyAddicted

Heart health is greatly improved by always allowing your significant other to win the argument (by this I mean that you should always create the illusion that they have won)

  • You remind me of Arlo Guthrie, which is a very good thing.

    They look (and smell) fantastic.

Also, portalized is a solid word.

  • @TeeAreify

I saw Arlo Guthrie play a show at the Mangy Moose in Wyoming in the early 90's...of course, it was awesome...I'd love to portalize back to that night, although I think I was drinking gin and tonics, which is never a good thing.

  • A "little bit of salt"? You should really lower your salt intake it does all sorts of bad stuff to us. Otherwise another great piece of work!

  • @I2itWELL

I agree...salt is a tasty addition when cooking foods from scratch, but less is best. I think I've been salting my foods more since swearing off margaritas.

  • Chef Buck RULEZ!!

  • Fantastique, délicieux, étonnant!!

    Pass me the zest, Buck.

I have a 6 y/o girl and always cook her

nice gourmet dinners, but all she wants

is joghurt and cereal. Sometimes beans.

    Thanks for making vids! :D

  • i dont think ive ever tryed brussel sprouts. what do they taste like?

  • @iamkarenchicago

they look like little cabbages and that's pretty much how they taste. I've never been a fan of boiled brussels sprouts, which is a common way of cooking them...but this particular recipe is tasty as hell, and I love it. Brussels sprouts are crazy healthy too.

  • Thanks Buck, im gunna have my mom give this a try lol :D

  • I'd like to place an order. Delivery, please.

  • LOL monkey balls.

I think you may have found the only way to eat brussel sprouts definitely gonna give it a try.

well done mate this was great.

Dont have have a heart attack man the world needs ya buck!!!!

  • @CurrentlyDisconected

I'm hoping that a healthy diet will keep me around long enough to see the next three movies in the Batman franchise.

  • my mother would call them "vegetables", and as a kid I probably found that just as misrepresenting as monkey balls.

  • interesting take on sprouts Buck, looks well tasty..nice one

we always had em whole, boiled or steamed, sometimes with gravy on top,in my family.

I used to get a smack round the heed if i couldnt finish the sprouts or mashed turnip, and often got into a right state over the injustice of it all, crying and stuff, but now im a bit older i really like all that good stuff, even raw!

  • @mrlowdangle

I remember sitting at the table with my little fists balled up and crying over monkey balls, broccoli, peas, or whatever the hell I was being forced to eat before I was allowed to leave the table...it's amazing how we grow up and learn to love those things...it's as if at some point we're taken over by aliens and our little-kid self is destroyed and suddenly we find ourselves doing things like dusting furniture and asking for second helpings of spinach.

  • It was not until I was an adult did I learn to appreciate the wonderful brussel sprout.

Yours looks way better than my usual. Steamed, covered with melted butter and lemon juice.

  • @citizenkong

steamed brussels sprouts reminds me too much of the dreaded childhood monkey balls...it wasn't until I sampled the "seared" sprout recipe that I found a craving for them.

  • You are an amazing chef. There is no recipe yet I didn't want to try out from your videos.

  • @motimuatit

You always leave the kindest comments, thanks :^)

  • This is so fun to watch. :D

  • ROFL just a middle aged man trying not to have a heartattack thats extra motivation for me to try this recipe LOL. your vids are always awesum and crack me up.

  • @Mikej1592

With the sprouts and garlic and lemon peel, it makes for a pretty healthy dish. All of the meals I prepare are made with the aim of bringing me one step closer to touching my toes (knees unbent, of course). At present, I'm on target to reach my goal in early spring of 2011.

  • You're gunna love my monkey balls.

  • i was so sure id like this vid i thumbs up'd it befor i watched it,.... then i watched it,..... jesus christ IM PSYCIC!!!

    great vid as usual!!

  • @TaNgLeD2121

thumbs up before watching one of my vids is always a good idea, and I recommend it to all viewers...although it's also important to remember that the key to happiness is LOW expectations. This is where many of my ex-girlfriends made their mistake.

  • @FromUnderTheRock hahahahahah,...well.... you got a good track record,........ maybe if you put out a vid i didnt like, then id be more cautious with my ratings,... but for now your running a 100% batting ratio!! keep up the good work!! love your vids

  • Is it good with beer ?

  • @kidblood1

yes...if you also serve it with burritos and rice.

  • I hate cooking but for some reason I love this video.

  • @XKaliber2097

your body is probably yearning for vitamins K and C (which brussels sprouts will plentifully provide)

  • I once had the sprouts in there namesake Brussels , and surprisingly they still sucked. I really don't think humans are meant to eat everything we come across let animals with less deserning palates consume these pee stinking dark green demons.

  • @TheDistrictofLucky

I think you've mistaken brussels sprouts for a drunken Irishman.

  • nice steaming hot bowl of quartered monkey testicles...hmm...why not?

  • This will be the first time ill eat brussell sprouts in 10 years, thanks chef buck, But it scares me that you know what monkey testicles taste like O.o

  • @JimmytheTexan1441

I used to do some part-time work in a carnival sideshow (that's about as specific as I can legally speak on the subject)

  • Pop some Mahi Mahi on to with some of that cajun spice and you got a great meal on your plate.....yum yum...I'm making this next time I got some balls in my hands....=)

  • @alonealotta

    (rimshot)

  • i eat them with vinger......but i'll try this recipe......since they are a part of the cabbage family.....you should have given a "gas" and "rank farts" warning in this vid

  • @elbrookman

ha!...are you sure it's the sprouts?

  • I too suffer from "lil dinky brussell sprout"

  • @hydr0p0nic

we all do from time to time...luckily, there's always next season :^)

  • brussel sprouts i only eat them once a year.

  • @paullees557104

I used to be like that, now it's a couple times a month.

  • Monkey balls? for real? LOL Looks Fantastic from here too Chef.

  • @mikeyducati

yeah, my momma used to boil whole brussels sprouts and serve them plain, which is like a little kid's worst nightmare. It put me off brussels sprouts for about three decades.

  • Anything you cook tastes good :)

Do you recommend anything it goes well with? Like, say, I used this as a side dish?

  • @miniixio

I usually serve them with rice or cous cous and a broiled fish dish.

  • Nice vid Buck. My daughter (who is now 11) insists on planting Brussels Sprouts in the veggie patch every year. She likes em served up plain(boiled)...so this recipe will be a nice switch up.

    Cheers!

  • @Eyepix65

My momma always boiled 'em up plain, and Camera Girl likes to buy them fozen and steam them up, which are two ways that I despise brussels sprouts. I was never a fan until I tried the seared sprout recipe --and now I love them --and I'm usually not a lemon guy, but the juice and zest works great in this dish.
