@1987rolex1 Yeah the first Kickboxer was far superior. In this particular fight scene, there's a point at which if you pause it...you can see that a fake leg is on a stick with somebody just outside of the shot pushing it lol. Seriously mate, I'm not kidding.
It was a side ways thrust kick supposed to be from from Sloan
Why are the fighters in movies like this always so bad... ? And why are the fighting scenes so bad ? Can it really be that hard to do a fighting film with good and realistic fights?
height does play a factor in kickboxing, chong li his character looks short but well bulit, rather deceptive in bloodsport, tong po in kickboxer looks tall with the use of his long legs, if u didnt know the 2 had been in the bloodsport film it would be fair to assume tong po would look the more brutal, with his shins and height speed and head butts been the key factor.
Then watching enter the dragon one really tells just how tall bolo really is
I always knew that he looked and sounded familiar in bloodsport, funny thing about it all is when i was a kid my brother and i always wondered who would win out of tong po and chong li, it was my opinion that tgong po with the height and spped usage of his legs would win, but the other side of the coin would be chong li was brutal and big bodied might have the strength to do him in, but if he fought him in bloodsport where his shin is split out, then we have our answer
By the way, this choreography is really bad. Typical 90s karate BS we watched. Sasha Mitchell shouldve stepped his movie magic skills up. SmH at Benny
Historical stories said that during the ancient times, thai fighters fought using the broken glass on fists method. There's a lot of speculation as to whether or not this was true, but some say that they really did that back in the old days of muay thai. Basically, using glass ups the ante during the fight.
fair enough but in bloodsport the main fighter was bolo yengs character chong li, so qisi grew upwith van damme lol cool yeah love the movies they are timeless classics
I believe you that its one of your fav movies but if you watch the credits roll after the first kickboxer film when it shows Tong po it says as himself, where as eric sloan has dennis alexio, kurt slaon has Jean claude van damme, xian has dennis chan.
so its hard to comprehend that they are the same and one person especially their tone of vopices are different, their fights are choreaographed by different people, for instance in kickboxer 2 benny the jet choreographs
@thegreekboy4800 Qissi and JCVD grew up studying martial arts together since they were 8 years old. They both made their first appearince in Breakin' as extras and their first big time film was "Bloodsport". Then, they both went on to do Kickboxer. Tong Po is an alias that Qissi went by, he has many aliases. I've been a fan of Qissi since I was a kid and watched all of his crap, I even own Extreme Force on DVD which is an example of how big a Qissi fan I am.
@thegreekboy4800 The guy playing Tong po 1,2 is actually a middle eastern actor that used to be Van Damme's training partner wearing a bunch in makeup. He has a heavier brother too If you pay attention to Van Damme's earlier flicks you will see this guy & the big one in most of them, either playing a goon or the main villain. If you watch Bloodsport, the same actor who plays Tong Po is playing a curlyhaired kickboxer, wearing the shiny blue shorts~who gets his knee busted open by Chong Li(Bolo)
@thegreekboy4800 Man, it's Qissi with eye brow covers to make him look asian. and since when height was an issue in movies Stallone is 5'7 and looks like 6' on the screen. Anywho if you really care check it out.
no they are completely different people, for starters th first movie shows the fighter is taller, this guys slower, shorter and if anyone bothers to check different names.
This guys name is Miqel Qisi, the other guy played himself which means his real name was tong po.
@thegreekboy4800 This is my 2nd favourite movie of all-time, I know what I'm talking about. Check out Qissi's IMDb profile, he also played Tong Po in the first. Tong Po nickname or stage name he took for the original, Michael Qissi is still the same guy that played him in the first movie but he beefed up a little more in Kickboxer 2.
Where can I get it in such good quality ??? I bought the DVD just cause of the quality and it was very bad - almost like a CAM on an original DVD ! --- I don't understand ........ :-( btw. awesome movie :-)
Come on van dam had the kicks this is some sloppy half way kicks

as for stallone and his height, sure some movies he comes across as a decent height, fantastic actor he is, then in others it shows his height up.
rocky 4 is one film where they stand toe to toe and the commentators meention :its a true case of david and goliath"
carl weathers and mt T had the height shown in the rockies
