  • The key speaker slurs way too much, lawls!

  • does anyone sell this footage?

  • Austin Idol used that same mask to attack Michael Hayes on a GCW episode back in the day!

  • Have Austin &/or Lawler EVER REALLY wrestled in Mexico 4 real?...

  • personally Demente negro is my favorite part about this.

  • Wow, Austin Idol thought being a heel meant having no indoor voice.

  • Screw the "tell him in Mexican" line, the best line is Lance's "Hey, hey, what the hell!?" Keep in mind, Jerry Jarrett rarely gave Lance and Dave a head's up about the angles so that was likely semi-legitimate surprise on Lance's part. He knew something was coming, but probably didn't know exactly what.

  • wait lawler's NOT mexican?!?!?!?

  • "Aaaaah, SHUT UP BANANA NOSE!!!"

  • His daddy was a wino and everyone from ? to Boston had hi Mothers phone number

    PRICELESS

  • classic

  • Why they were trusting a guy whose name included the word "demented" is beyond me. =P

  • LOL "Yeah, tell him in Mexican to get outta here!"

  • @pachuco5

i giggled when i heard that line lol

  • That's great to hear the groaning from everyone when Idol unmasks. Funny as hell.

  • damn lance russell sounds like somebodys badass dad who sells vacuum cleaner parts

  • Aw mannn....

that was a pretty nice plaque....

    :o(

  • This is bull s Watch the scaffol match or

Bill dundee's wife's hair match or the mongolin stomper or joe leduc or brisco's

  • Wow, amazing how much Hector Guerrero looked like Eddie Guerrero there.

  • Just thinking, Idol has probably done more to Lawler than any other wrestler. This incident, the head shaving match, the posting with Tommy Rich, and the vial of substance thrown in Lawler's eyes in the Tanaka match !

  • Anybody know what year this was?

  • 1981.

  • Dusty and The Assassin did the exact same angle on Championship Wrestling from Florida back in the day. Great stuff!!!

  • I remember this I had tickets and actually have some photos taken during this event. As far as Austin Idol, He lives in or close to Pensacola, I have spotted him at the Home Depot in town.

  • Referee Jerry Calhoun has been in Memphis a loooong time...

  • Yeah, Austin Idol was way ahead of his time, for sure.

  • Yes.. That is deffinately a young Eddie Gilbert.. Possibly back when we was being called Tommy Gilbert Jr. This was a classic. Ya just knew, there was someone under that mask, someone out to get The King...

  • Ummm. the guy in the mask was Austin Idol.. not a Mexican. Lance didn't know. So, he could've actually had an interview and told him to get out of here. LOL He didnt need Hector. (It's a joke. Lighten up.)

  • What I said was a joke. Sprout that brain that you were hoping Lance would and enjoy the video.

  • "Yeah Hector, tell him in MEXICAN to get out of here!"

    Priceless

  • @pimpacious yeah. its a classic line ! For 3 minutes 'ol banana nose keeps up the pretence of tolerance and "hands of friendship"...but when the fun starts it all evaporates....hilarious stuff !

  • @pimpacious LOL...yeah, that cracked me up too!

  • Can anyone tell me what Austin Idol is doing nowadays.

  • @rbky04 He still lives in Pensacola, Florida and if I'm not mistaken he's running for Mayor down there.

  • Does anyone remember the time Hector came out with a pinata? He blindfolded Lance and had him hit it repeatedly. Eventually, flour came out and got all over Lance's Baxter suit. Lance was livid! Funny stuff. I wish someone had that video to post.

  • Classic angle! This is what made Memphis wrestling famous.

  • Austin Idol! He lived in my hometown for awhile [Pensacola, FL] when I was a kid--a friend of mine knew his son. He's like Superstar Billy Graham--came along too soon in the business, if he came along now he'd have a world title, no doubt. Oh, yeah, dig the disco-riffic TV theme song, lol.

  • Florida did an angle very similiar to this with the Assassin posing under another mask presenting an award to Dusty Rhodes.

  • The last guy holding Idol, is that a young Eddie Gilbert? It looks like him. Thanks for posting these videos!

  • told you so, he is a bigger star then Hijo El Santo and Mistico

  • wtg Austin Idol... nice job... lol!!!!

  • That is some great footage. As time went on Hector made one of the best heels I ever saw teaming with my ol buddy Carl Styles (under a mask)and using Hector's hot sauce on his opponents. Great Memphis memories.
