i have badly dented my pb g4 17 therefore i need to replace the bottom houseing. If i replace it with a housing from the same model but with a different processor speed (1.67ghz case for 1.33ghz) will it be compatible ? thankyou, please help :)

That's awesome! My iBook G4 1.33 is working fine on the ethernet with the airport card turned off but it is so frustrating when I'm trying to use a wifi connection and it crashes. I will get a new MacBook soon and will try this fix when the iBook is no longer my only computer. You went to so much trouble with the subtitles but it would be great to have an English voiceover version, even if the video and titles remain as they are. Thanks very much!

No, simply the camera that use miror mode, so it's inversed.

For everybody, while plugging out top-case cables, do it very carefully (not gently, just carefully), otherwise you'll yank whole socket from logic board. Thankfully it's possible to re-solder, but not easy.

Does this fix also work for the following problem:

Airport doesn't see any Wifi networks at all from time to time. No kernel panics. It's an iBook 12" 1.33 (mid 2005).

This fix works for this generation of ibook, but I really don't know if it will resolve your issue. Try to reinstall your system, and then if the issue is not resolved, try this fix.

Well I opend my 12" iBook. The layout is the oposite of a 14" model. For now I would say adding a piece of paper solves my airport problems. Thanks for the disassamble video. It really helped me.

Excuse me, what are the causes of a Kernel panic? In my situation, I have an iMac G4 2003, 17in, don't know what version it is, and it orginally had Panther. I also have a MacBook w Tiger preinstalled. I wanted to upgrade the G4 to Tiger using the install discs that come with my MacBook. To install, I had to restart, and the screen went Kernel panic with the disc still inside. What am I supposed to do???

Hi Simplentertainments, About your imac, this is different. Your problem is simple, you can't install tiger with the macbook's cds.

Why ? Because the MacBook's tiger cd is only Intel Compatible, not PPC compatible. If you want upgrade to tiger, you have to buy the retail version Intel And PPC compatible. But I advise you, if you have enough memory, to upgrade at Leopard. Like it you can install it on the G4 and the MacBook. Best regards ;)

Thank you for replying. In fact, I was able to take the disc out initially to the 4th time turning the iMac on after turning it off abruptly due to the Kernel panic. The good thing is my iMac started normally after the disc was out but the strange thing is that it actually upgraded to Tiger version... during the panic? Bizarre. But I'm happy and I'm replying you with my recovered-upon-question iMac. Thanx again. btw, do you work for Apple or are you just that good about computers?

The Open Firmware is running a bit different as your macbook, so sometimes about the startup, it's different. You can hold the mouse button while start up your iMac, it'll eject it. And btw, I work in deed in an Apple Authorized center ;)

Alternatively before pulling it apart like I did, if possible look in the panic log to see what the problem actually is, mine was the Airport adaptor.

I switched it off from the settings and haven't had a panic since. Just need to buy a usb wireless stick instead. Job done :)
