@OtherRandomThings I have another question for you :), hope you can answer. I get some serious fps drops in a game called "Counter strike source" with this 5870, can the reason be that there is alot of dust in the fan?¨
@funnyfootballs Try defragging your computer first. that's usually my problem. computer's performances can get affected by fragmentations. CSS can also be defragged if you're using steam, go you your css > properties > local files > defrag. however defragging your computer takes forever, maybe you can start defragging your computer and leave it on overnight while you sleep.
@OtherRandomThings I have tried defragging my computer I did it with windows like a 2-3 weeks ago (I'm on windows 7)
And I used the defragmenter in TuneUp like 2days ago.
What happens if I defrag css? None of the files wont be deleted right? And it wont put my settings to the default right? I am very careful when it comes to the settings of my gameplay :)

I LOVE this card. It eats anything that I through at it (even a maxed out Crysis 40 fps!). It is an insane overclocker, and I overclocked my card from 800/900 to an insane 910/1310. With MSI Afterburner, I set some custom profiles so it idles at 34 Celsius and loads at around 54 Celsius. I recommend it to anyone looking to buy a card.
@znoozaros hmm, thats false. the HD5870's overall performance is a bit better than the GTX480. the GTX480 only stands out when it comes to tesselation

just ordered my HIS 5870 off newegg, im going to put an EK nickel plated waterblock on it, im not going to wait till mid april for the gtx 480. i have always gone nvidia, but now i have swichted to ati.
@Significanto You probably can. Corsair PSUs are rated at a lower wattage to meet 80 Plus standards, so its maximum output is greater than 550 watts. The 5870 is a pretty low wattage cards. Hell, you might be able to run two if you have the right connections. But yeah, you can run it, and the people here really don't know what they're talking about.

@ekollon72 one 5870 is better because 2 5770 are not going to scale properly and minimum fps will be very less compared to CF and u need to wait for new catalyst versions for every new game that is getting released. without a doubt get a 5870. Single gpu solution is always better than 2 or 3.
i think he could have picked a better comparison between the dx11 and dx10...stalker:CoP isnt the best lookin game and also dosnt use Dx11 very well in my opinion...but watever :)
Yeah, but the power supply will decrease it's efficiency with time.
700W should be good enough for more than one year, but he will need to upgrade to a new one eventually.
I was going for a 750W for my HD 5770, but i decided choosing a 1000W (because i'll want to upgrade to crossfire and overclock my Q9550 to 3,2GHz). This should last me for a very long time.
It's up to him to choose what's best for his needs.
what a stupid result....much like a same as windows, you prefer win98 or xp rather than win vista or 7 because win98/xp is fast when load....no meaning.... stupid but ego
Personally I prefer Window Vista.. I have not tried Windows 7.
Second I see what I see I prefer eye candy on the caracters when i see less on them I am reluctant to impressed with new DX drivers as for new opereating systems.
I wait till everybody else say`s what happened before I go buy or upgrade...
The comparison between 10x and 11x was complete bs.. When you look at the masks, the 10x shows the mask as an octagon while in direct x11 it's a perfect circle. Obviously the graphics were toned done in the directx10... Stupid picture hmmmf...
indeed. It consumes 180w at full, but i think the GPU is not the only component in ur pc. You also have to consider the amount of amps your PSU provides. I think most of the markets 500w power can handle the 5870.
Yes that is true. Ive got a 620 W ATX PSU, but not sure how many amps it hade tho. I used to have a GTX 275 on that thing and it worked. How many amps would you recommend if I whould like to use a crossfire in these cards?
Technically Nvidia isn't late If you compare the time since each company's last release. Nvidia saw severe flaws in the 40 nm chips but ATI decided to take the risk anyway
price isnt realy an issue, its only a small difference, im thinking of making a lanbox but i doubt a 10incher will fit, ill probally end up with a scout sniper case :) but either way im waiting till january because of the sales :D
according to comparison its Equal to GTX 295.. in power.. except that Radeon is stronger in big resolutions 2000 or more... and it got DX 11 and it's better for Dual and quad cores.. so basicly its the best card.. YET
hello 3dgamerman ive got a question about the 5870: how high is the wattage use on this video card? i would like to hear also from other ppl who knows about it.
i wouldnt really call this a review...i would call it an overview. all he does is read specs, he doesnt compare it with other cards, and he barely gives any personal thoughts on the card itself? what the hell!

Its certainly a kickass GC !!
BUT , I'll wait until the Vapor-X gets down to a good price
My advice : never buy the "noname" cards as the HIS one ... Go for the good Vapor-X !! Cool and quite as needed (got the 4870 Vapor-X 2GB)
asfodhell 2 years ago
@asfodhell what u mean no name? like reference cooler?
kidowner 2 years ago
Yay! I'm getting the Vapor-X too... ;D
TheZombiePanda 2 years ago
Yes , P5Q deluxe is fine
No , you should consider buying a better PSU (like 700 and above)
But remember , this awesome card can be easily limited by your processor (dont buy it if you got a low end dual core CPU)
asfodhell 2 years ago
That card just tripled the noise of my computer and i hafe 12 fans 3 of them 230 millimeter
MultiHobbyman 2 years ago
@MultiHobbyman 12 fans!!! why do you need that much?
1bchrisd1 2 years ago
Because he's stupid ? :p
Well , I just got a CM HAF932 : 3x230 + 1x140
Absolutely noneed for more , it could even easily up the temp due to bad air flow (too much fan = much noise and much temp)

@ProwerPlays
850W, just in case.
djmiranda15 2 years ago
Lol.. not at all.. 600w is enough I got a shitty one I don't have a problem OC and max load.. 700w would be better tough.
sebaswildboy 2 years ago
Yeah, but the power supply will decrease it's efficiency with time.
700W should be good enough for more than one year, but he will need to upgrade to a new one eventually.
I was going for a 750W for my HD 5770, but i decided choosing a 1000W (because i'll want to upgrade to crossfire and overclock my Q9550 to 3,2GHz). This should last me for a very long time.
It's up to him to choose what's best for his needs.
djmiranda15 2 years ago
It's ok to futureproof.. but ppl tend to overreact on PSUs requeriments.
sebaswildboy 2 years ago
People tend to overreact to allot of things.
750W would be enough for me, but that was before that i learned that PSU had an expiration date with a very slow death.
Maybe that's what happened to my two previous PSUs. They fried to death XD.
djmiranda15 2 years ago
At 50% the Harrier Jet Fighter is about to take off...loud noise! You guys better have a good power supply load
JPHET37 2 years ago
is the mic inside the graphcis card as it's going?

I prefer DX10 except for the sky in DX11 the caracter has more details in DX10..
Maybe that gives you more frames...
Dorisequador 2 years ago
what a stupid result....much like a same as windows, you prefer win98 or xp rather than win vista or 7 because win98/xp is fast when load....no meaning.... stupid but ego
cub64 2 years ago
Personally I prefer Window Vista.. I have not tried Windows 7.
Second I see what I see I prefer eye candy on the caracters when i see less on them I am reluctant to impressed with new DX drivers as for new opereating systems.
I wait till everybody else say`s what happened before I go buy or upgrade...
Dorisequador 2 years ago
Depends what you want and what games you play..
Dorisequador 2 years ago
holy fucking shit, this will be like having a vacum cleaner on my room !!! hope the vapor-x version is more quite
shangbang94 2 years ago
The main difference between directX 10 and 11 is the performance ... DirectX 11 works prety much faster .
ud3r007 2 years ago
The comparison between 10x and 11x was complete bs.. When you look at the masks, the 10x shows the mask as an octagon while in direct x11 it's a perfect circle. Obviously the graphics were toned done in the directx10... Stupid picture hmmmf...

o.O when the heck would ur card get that loud? MW2 wouldnt make it max out tho eh?
damianson 2 years ago

I read on the internet that this card needs 500W minimum but if he says it drains about 180W at full load doesnt it mean I dont need a 500W minimum?
Christopher
ZoneDamage 2 years ago
indeed. It consumes 180w at full, but i think the GPU is not the only component in ur pc. You also have to consider the amount of amps your PSU provides. I think most of the markets 500w power can handle the 5870.
Rottencop 2 years ago
Yes that is true. Ive got a 620 W ATX PSU, but not sure how many amps it hade tho. I used to have a GTX 275 on that thing and it worked. How many amps would you recommend if I whould like to use a crossfire in these cards?
Christopher
ZoneDamage 2 years ago
700-800 watts
Fitality101 2 years ago
550-650 is the recommended, dude
Merc399 2 years ago
the 500 includes the motherboard, hard drives, etc.

you need to inclued your other components... include this in a system your spending alot.... so youll be buying a hig price psu... like i did :)
Findoloo 2 years ago
you do realize that your PSU doesn't only power your graphics card...

Do Want! Thought that nvidia could bring its Fermi on market early but they failed big time. And I believe the price would speak for Ati too...
Rottencop 2 years ago
Technically Nvidia isn't late If you compare the time since each company's last release. Nvidia saw severe flaws in the 40 nm chips but ATI decided to take the risk anyway

getting a 5870... will i get a Saphire, Asus or an XFX one?
Findoloo 2 years ago
xfx always a certified product....so i would recommend that one..although it can be more expensive than other brands
jaja191919 2 years ago
price isnt realy an issue, its only a small difference, im thinking of making a lanbox but i doubt a 10incher will fit, ill probally end up with a scout sniper case :) but either way im waiting till january because of the sales :D
Findoloo 2 years ago
yeah..same idea here..but still dunno if am getting the 5850 or 5870..cuz maybe id go xfire in the near future.
jaja191919 2 years ago
These cards are still hard to find. Newegg doesnt have them still.
tropico79 2 years ago

emo4elmo 2 years ago
Just about? Runs anything. Fastest card out there.
111olbap 2 years ago 4
according to comparison its Equal to GTX 295.. in power.. except that Radeon is stronger in big resolutions 2000 or more... and it got DX 11 and it's better for Dual and quad cores.. so basicly its the best card.. YET
naitzirc 2 years ago
hello 3dgamerman ive got a question about the 5870: how high is the wattage use on this video card? i would like to hear also from other ppl who knows about it.

mikitymike 2 years ago
will i be able to run AUTOCAD with this card.
jason26969 2 years ago
i wouldnt really call this a review...i would call it an overview. all he does is read specs, he doesnt compare it with other cards, and he barely gives any personal thoughts on the card itself? what the hell!
