About how long after the install was this video takin ? Me and my bubby just did a cam and lifter install and you have to let it idle for 45 min after its done with out touching the throttle at all. They sounded just like that and eventually stopped and were dead silent.
you are supposed to let it idle to allow the hydraulic lifters to pump up with oil. I recently did a complete rebuild of my vr6 and it sounded the same on first start up.
haha, you guys don't know what chains sound like do you, this is definitely not chains, there are rods in the intake manifold, when u open the throttle they start banging because they are loose. This is a common problem with the 2000 and up VR6 motors, i don't know how it happened to yours.
lol, I love the comments here. If you don't know what chains sound like DON'T say its chains. This video was from a week AFTER the chains and cams had been replaced. The lightweight lifter/cam combo never wanted to quite down. The power steering pump was making the noise at idle. The engine has since quieted down and runs great. BTW, this video is of my car.
that sounds like your timing chains

Always let the car idle for atleast 5 minutes upon start before you do anything.

is this vr6 2.9L or 2.8L ?
999kamus999 4 years ago
This is a 2.8L engine. All VR's are 2.8 unless it is the .:R32 which has a 3.2L engine.
jamieandthemoose 4 years ago
they did a 2.9l VR in the corrado remember?
