Tabla and Sitar are the improvised version of similar percussion and string instruments in the Arab area, reinvented by Ustad Ameer Khashru in India (well we were all Indian at that time), during Mughal emperor Akbar. Santoor is an Indian version of Harp, credit goes to Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma for his lifelong effort to make such a wonderful instrument.

To me, it matters more who are playing rather than who have invented.
