And in response to someones comment, ALL Spartans keep their hair damn short, like shaved, per regulations(it makes sense, long hair would be bloody uncomfortable in a helmet anyway)
Also, spartans RARELY take off their helmets(and NEVER in a combat area!) unless they are ordered to do so.
@wickedcow1 You have to remember that the only reason Grunts seem so harmless in the games is because we're playing as either a giant Spartan super-soldier with enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes plus super-fancy armor, or an ODST, who are the very best non-SPARTAN soldiers. Also, the reason Grunts are dangerous is because they bred like rabbits and therefore always heavily outnumber their enemies; there's a reason why they were able to kill an Arbiter during the Grunt Rebellion.
A military organization wouldn't let anybody have hair as long as that. Ever. Yet another thing the anime artists would get waaaaaay wrong. Not to mention that the dialogue and voice acting sound like their tailored for children who's parents probably wouldn't let them play games like Halo anyway (with the exception of the occasional "damn". Pretty sketchy...

Halsey would never call a Spartan by their number. She used their names. The Halo: Legends team would have known that if they did proper research. >_<
@RobReignhell Unless she was a Spartan III. Halsey could be kind of a hard bitch when she so chose, or when she took a disliking to someone (such as Ackerman or Noble 6).
Halsey was like a surrogate mother to the SPARTAN-IIs. Because of that she called them by their names. Example; Jorge in Halo: Reach. Even if Halsey was mad, it seems weird that she would use their number. Although it's a minor inconsistency, it's one which breaks my immersion in the story for me.
@RobReignhell I liked her portrayal in Reach and Glasslands better. I always felt like she was something of an egotistical, self serving monster, even in the horrific Nylund books, so the way she appears in this one was refreshing. I understand the Spartans, for all their power, are fragile, and it just seems all the sadder for them that they worship someone like her. But that's just me...
@Godzillafan93 Except that Daisy is one of the original IIs, since Halsey was not involved in the S-III project; the main reason she was so bitchy to Carter was because it's the first time she meets Spartans who are not part of her own project, and it's fairly clear by the end of Reach that Halsey comes to respect Noble Team in her own way. Heck, Ghosts of Onyx indicates that she considers the IIIs to be just as worthy of her good side as the IIs.
@umbrellashotgunman But in Glasslands, her presence polarizes Mendoza's team, and she repeatedly states that she can't accept the III's as Spartans. And the III's feel the same about her.
@Godzillafan93 That's precisely why Glasslands was kind of disappointing; I had been waiting for a long time to finally see the series finally explore in depth the ethical ramifications of the SPARTAN program, but it could have been easily done in a less ham-handed manner that didn't so blatantly contradict Halsey's characterization in the earlier books; what made her so interesting in Nylund's work was the tension between her roles as both "team mother" and "unethical scientist".
@TheTenienteBunker The Spartan IIs were also kidnapped as children and replaced by severely deficient clones, in order to salve Halsey's conscience. Most all the clones died young due to sever defects. And the Master Chief went into action as a young teenager (I believe 14). There's no difference between the programs, except S-III's are usually suicide commandos.
@Godzillafan93 To be more specific, The Fall of Reach had established that the flash clones were there solely so that there wouldn't be any missing-child investigations that might accidentally stumble upon the SPARTAN program, with the implication that clone-related genetic diseases resembled "natural" illnesses closely enough that doctors wouldn't notice anything unusual. Also, a big part of Ghosts of Onyx's plot involves Halsey specifically wanting to "save" the S-IIIs.
@umbrellashotgunman My problem was I just didn't see those two roles meshing very well. Karen Traviss is also one of my favorite authors, and she's very big on governments exploiting their soldiers. As for Nylund, his books were so often riddled with huge continuity errors I had a hard time taking them seriously. I'm honestly glad he seems to have left the series.
@Godzillafan93 Actually, Nylund was the one who sort of established the original continuity to begin. I think it's good that Bungie threw out his more questionable decisions (like the original TFoR stating that Elites only showed up on the battlefield in the last year of the war), but give credit where credit is due. Also, I think Halsey's Journal alone justifies Nylund's entire involvement with the series, especially when you consider that much of Glasslands is based off of it.
@umbrellashotgunman I was referring to the magically respawning Pelican in First Strike, or the fact that he mentions Brutes being a ceremonial species not yet encountered (they were the second Covenant race we met!), as well as the M6C being the most powerful magnum in the series (it's the weakest). He also blatantly stole the plot of Ender's Game for Fall of Reach, which was massively disappointing.
@Godzillafan93 Actually, First Strike was published FIVE GODDAMN YEARS before Contact Harvest was ever written; basically, Bungie didn't make the decision to have Brutes be the 2nd Covenant race encountered by humans until AFTER First Strike was written. I don't mind you not liking Nylund's writing, but at least get the facts straight first. But you'll be happy to know that the 2010 reprint of First Strike eliminates all references to the Brutes being a newly-encountered species.
@umbrellashotgunman But the magical respawning Pelican/Long Sword. Honestly, that one really bothered me, especially since it's clearly blown up at one point, then comes back a few pages later. And the magnum thing was also a big deal. I had to wonder if he'd ever actually played the game. And the Brutes things is mostly Bungie's fault for not figuring out their story. But it's still a horrible series.
@umbrellashotgunman There's also the horribly cliched story about Cole in Evolutions, where we once again are given a self absorbed character who abandons humanity at its greatest time of need, apparently for no reason (at least Halsey was trying to make good, if only for her own conscience). And I haven't read Halsey's journal (Bungie has decided they won't be releasing more games for the PC, and I have no desire to buy an Xbox, no matter how awesome Reach is).
@umbrellashotgunman A friend has it, and when I speculated on Nylund writing it, he replied Nylund couldn't possibly have pulled it off, because it manages to stay consistent.
In any case, I'm glad he's left the series to real sci-fi writers (like Traviss and Greg Bear).
@Godzillafan93 From what I've seen, there are actually copies of just Halsey's Journal available online. Or you could simply borrow your friend's copy. But yes, believe or not, it was written by Nylund. I think the reason why Bungie and Nylund got one so well is because they're both at their best when writing "in-universe" documents, as opposed to any sort of traditional narrative (for example, Halo 3's actual story wasn't that good, but the terminals made for wonderful reading).
@umbrellashotgunman Really? Nice! Some of the diagrams were interesting, and Nylund's prose isn't bad (although he has at best a superficial grasp of military tactics; why else would he have an admiral like Cole studying the campaigns of US Grant, George Patton, and Xerxes, other than he doesn't know of any other military leaders). Of the games, I liked Halo 2's story (although I hate it's physics), ODST, and Reach, because they have shifting viewpoints.
Wow. Seriously? So I watch the video, and I expect comments like "Wow, the Halo story is so sad, and touching at the same time." But instead I see "Halo is not anime." and "Japanese animation is shit." I'm actually blown away by the fact that everyone commenting can just ignore the deep and moving story being told in the video, and focus entirely on the fact that it's anime. Seriously, I don't understand this generation.

hate to nerd rage. But the spartan 2's are supposed to be impeccable most loyal solideirs, the fact that she runs away and they try to make a subplot makes me feel fake and gay.
@slavman4000 Actually, the Cole Protocol book, apart from giving us the Arbiter's real name, did give us insubordinate Spartan trainees in the form of Grey Team, who had a reputation for stealing pelicans and beating the shit out of their trainers during their myriad escape attempts.
Actually, Halsey is a bit of a bitch; the S-IIs are some of the few people who really see her better side. I was a bit annoyed that she didn't use Daisy's real name though, like she would in the books.
Has anyone noticed that most of the gun sound effects are from Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway? The Assault Rifle is the Thompson, the Turret is the MG42, and in part 2, the Magnum is the 1911.
@RayMKIII Issue with that, though, is that the S-IIs were at least expected to survive into adulthood. S-IIIs were used as elite suicide troops, most of whom were killed by the time they turned 12; Noble Team being one of the few exceptions.
To clarify a few things: 1. UNSC doesn't use clone troopers because clones have a bad habit of turning into mental and physical cripples in just 1 or 2 months after their creation.
2. Spartans don't get energy shields until almost the end of the war.
3. The original purpose of the S-II program was not to fight Covenant, but to take down human rebels in the colonies.
4. In the books, there were other S-IIs who resisted indoctrination, like Gray Team; 1 crippled trainee even joined the rebels.
I swear they should make a anime series based on Halo. I mean one it would be awsome. and Two it will give Mircosoft money so everyone would be happy right?
@AgrivatedKillah I think you miss understand what I was saying. Get a company that is good at making Anime/Manga and have them work closely with Bungie/343 Industries to make a good anime. And Have Microsoft fund the company that does so everyone is happy.
@legoman9299 Only for the failed Spartan-I program (which included Sergeant Johnson). Spartan-IIs were kidnapped 6-year olds chosen because they were both very smart and very athletic (the first book has a scene where 8-year old Spartan trainees easily take out a group of armed marines with nothing but rocks). Spartan-IIIs were orphans, generally 4-7 years old and also smart and athletic (though on average not to the same degree as the S-IIs), who signed up to get revenge on the Covenant.
wow this does look retarded i love halo but man this is so fing gay this makes halo look bad why do the Japanese ruin all good things with bad animation and even worse acting/voices
Yeah, yeah some of the Halo Legend movie shorts don't make much since, but the ones that do make some sense are pretty good, imo.
This episode really got me interested in Halo lore. This animate episode plus with some of the books makes me feel bad for a lot of the Spartan II's. They were kidnapped when they were kids and force into the Spartan program. They had to go through really harsh training and then get them super human augmentations through a painful and deadly process.
omg i cant believe there is a halo anime that combines 2 of my favorite things: shooting games and anime omg i have to change my pants now but im still wondering where master chief is i haven't seen him yet
@ommeh49 Actually the Spartan program was started before the war with the Covenant to fight the Insurrectionists, who were humans that wanted to become independent from Earth, but luckily when they came along they were already around.
I hate the anime take on halo, it's sentimental bull completely at odds with the message and tone of the real series. Thanks japan, you showed us youve got no fucking clue. Why the hell did they think making all Spartans girls would make them instantly compelling? No Spartan would behave like this, childishly running home and considering KILLING her clone. Theyre supposed to have perspective.
Well, there's quite a bit I could say about many of those comments, but I'll stick with this. Spartans are still human, and humans do stupid things. It's the original halo creators that are wrong. You can't have an army of emotionless people, and the anime makes a spartan a bit more understandable. I mean, come on. It's stupid how the creators didn't think of this when they made the spartan idea. Like a person is going to stay mentally sane going through all that crap.
some spartan II project recruits actually attemted to escape, none of them made it come back to their home planet though. The DNA changes were made on reach -.-
Except that all of the clones died short time after they were created...
The story of Homecoming is not plausible at all. And how dare you say that bungie made spartans emotionless for fucks sake, go research a little bit, than comment -.-
@qpoRmGoqp cod aint a bad game and halo aint that bad but halo fiction cod is non fiction so but halo is cool and so is cod but cod got more fans than halo halo is more like a geek game cod is more mature than halo but both are cool games listen to this a sniper in halo cant beat any of this cod gun, barret 50 cal, rocket launcher,ak-47,m16,uzi, but my point is that they are both cool

@umbrellashotgunman As it was, about half of the S-IIs died (or were rendered unusable) during the augmentation process. Even worse with the S-IIIs.
Orumon27 1 month ago
To clarify a few things: 1. UNSC doesn't use clone troopers because clones have a bad habit of turning into mental and physical cripples in just 1 or 2 months after their creation.
2. Spartans don't get energy shields until almost the end of the war.
3. The original purpose of the S-II program was not to fight Covenant, but to take down human rebels in the colonies.
4. In the books, there were other S-IIs who resisted indoctrination, like Gray Team; 1 crippled trainee even joined the rebels.

they need to get the ppl who made the ghost in the shell ovos to do this properly..

I swear they should make a anime series based on Halo. I mean one it would be awsome. and Two it will give Mircosoft money so everyone would be happy right?
RabidDeathknight 2 months ago
@RabidDeathknight No.
I hope they don't make it, it would bastardize the series.
An American company should make the cartoon.
AgrivatedKillah 2 months ago
@AgrivatedKillah I think you miss understand what I was saying. Get a company that is good at making Anime/Manga and have them work closely with Bungie/343 Industries to make a good anime. And Have Microsoft fund the company that does so everyone is happy.

@legoman9299 they abduct people with favorable dna for spartans
commandplay 2 months ago
@commandplay
well they take military people too. right?
legoman9299 2 months ago
@legoman9299 Only for the failed Spartan-I program (which included Sergeant Johnson). Spartan-IIs were kidnapped 6-year olds chosen because they were both very smart and very athletic (the first book has a scene where 8-year old Spartan trainees easily take out a group of armed marines with nothing but rocks). Spartan-IIIs were orphans, generally 4-7 years old and also smart and athletic (though on average not to the same degree as the S-IIs), who signed up to get revenge on the Covenant.
umbrellashotgunman 2 months ago
@umbrellashotgunman Honestly, I prefer the S-III tactic better.

wow this does look retarded i love halo but man this is so fing gay this makes halo look bad why do the Japanese ruin all good things with bad animation and even worse acting/voices
thenrp2 3 months ago
Yeah, yeah some of the Halo Legend movie shorts don't make much since, but the ones that do make some sense are pretty good, imo.
This episode really got me interested in Halo lore. This animate episode plus with some of the books makes me feel bad for a lot of the Spartan II's. They were kidnapped when they were kids and force into the Spartan program. They had to go through really harsh training and then get them super human augmentations through a painful and deadly process.

most japanese animes don't know how to be subtle..their animes are wild and outlandish because most japanese people live very dull lives.
Spartans are supposed to be soldiers, not people who over react and get scared like normal humans.

@fire2492 , 1. in 2100 thereabouts UN became UNSC, ( United Nations Space Command) and 2. humanity faced exinction, radical actions had to be done
ommeh49 3 months ago
@ommeh49 Actually the Spartan program was started before the war with the Covenant to fight the Insurrectionists, who were humans that wanted to become independent from Earth, but luckily when they came along they were already around.

lordmasterization 4 months ago
I hate the anime take on halo, it's sentimental bull completely at odds with the message and tone of the real series. Thanks japan, you showed us youve got no fucking clue. Why the hell did they think making all Spartans girls would make them instantly compelling? No Spartan would behave like this, childishly running home and considering KILLING her clone. Theyre supposed to have perspective.
DudeIncognito123 4 months ago
@DudeIncognito123
JadeCurtiss1994 4 months ago
@JadeCurtiss1994
some spartan II project recruits actually attemted to escape, none of them made it come back to their home planet though. The DNA changes were made on reach -.-
Except that all of the clones died short time after they were created...
The story of Homecoming is not plausible at all. And how dare you say that bungie made spartans emotionless for fucks sake, go research a little bit, than comment -.-
