im a new player of chaos daemons and i am really glad i started on the 8th edition because hearing about the other books i think it would have put me off the daemons not being able to mix and match with the korne and slanesh and tzeench and nurgle i used to play with the brettonians and was really surprised at the point prices for core troops as knights are 24 + but all the core for daemons are 12 points i really liked that have not had a game wiv them yet though :'(

Chaos is something along the lines of a terrible, self-destructive and evil force that will inevitably corrupt those who follow its way. Fortunately, Daemons can be killed and it is incredibly rare for the false Gods to unite.

That big Chaos boxed set was what was out when I first began playing Warhammer (Both Fantasy and 40k) and I still have my "Sacrificial champions" that got nuked when I happened to draw one of those nasty "Returned to the Void" cards, Dev! I miss being able to field Warriors, Beastmen and daemons on the same list though! :-(

Few points...Their were 5 powers of chaos at the start. The 5th power was Choas that wasnted to destroy itself. Their is a huge story behind why its no longer included but it had to do with GW politics outside the game. Your right though the early Chaos/Daemon book covered 40k/Fantasy/and the RPGs in one book. they were EXTREMLY fluff heavy.

I have The Lost and the Damned and it is a really archaic, demonic looking book. It has rules for using zombies and skeletons with nurgle armies, also dragon ogre rules and loads of brilliant illustrations by Adrian Smith and Stephen Taplin - I know it goes for mega bucks on ebay but I won't sell it!

Ive seen the lost and the damned book. It's full of cool art. I don't remember reading a word out of it but the artwork in the book really kicked ass. That's an awesome book collection back there. You should make a video showing what you have up there! I'll bet there are a few real gems sitting on those shelves.

The Animosity rules actually sound really cool! i mean, i always had a problem with the minions of the chaos gods who are always feuding with each other just marching into battle side by side with no problems.

But i can see how it would get annoying =P

Ignore my comment about daemonic animosity possibly causing them to be banished back to the warp. I was having a 40K relapse I think. With animosity, the worst that can happen is that your Daemons can fight each other for the rest of the game:-)
