I took care of a dog that my next door neighbor was going to give to her husband after one of theirs died and she was just a six week old puppy. The puppy had to sleep in our kitchen alone at night and she cried when we left the room. I felt sorry for her sleeping alone in the dark so I gathered my two dogs and slept next to her kennel in my sleeping bag.

easiest way to stop him/her crying;

Put a clock under their blanket so when they're lying on it the ticking will sound like their mothers heartbeat. Stops any crying instantly.
