@Lolalipstick7 I think that's ridiculous. This woman has an amazing voice. So what if there's another group doing it? Why do you think there should only be one group doing it? These folks sound great and that women has a powerful voice. What is your deal with going around to other ring shout videos and slamming the people involved? That doesn't seem nice and to me you come across as bitter or elitist- perhaps a bit of both. I apologize if this comment offends, but that's the impression I have.

Read "Shout Because You're Free" and you'll realize that a second group formed 15 years AFTER it was discovered that the original McIntosh County Shouters group still performed the ring shout. This was much to the chagrin of the original group's patriarch which was most disrespectful. Why couldn't the Geechee Gullah Shouters/Darien Shouters/ or whatever their name is TODAY think of doing something original? Why copy someone.
not the authentic ring shout. if you know--and I mean REALLY know the authentic ring shout, this is not the group. World renowned ethnomusicologists, folklorists, historians, and experts in this art for know that this group does not perform the ring shout properly.
@Lolalipstick7 This is the second group to form in McIntosh County. The original group has most of the publicity and followers. This newer group is comprised of county residents and perhaps you should contact the group to discuss your comments.
