  • Bakshi and Don Bluth are such underrated animators.

  • Can u tell me why crumb (created fritz the cat). Hated the movie so much he killed off his character Bi wanna. Know

  • @MsMariah61 Whatever... if the film is so popular then why is it still only described as a "cult classic" and barely seen in any households among other adult films? Wikipedia's not a good place to cite information as its facts are always widely inconsistent. It also says that "critical reaction to the film was positive" despite the fact that the film only has a 60% rating on IMDB and 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fanboys will always overhype things up.

  • @MsMariah61 Yeah, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying anything bad about cult movies. It's just that Bakshi's movies aren't very popular at all and I completely understand why.

  • @PsychoJosh Yeah, just because they're popular doesn't mean they're popular. Just because he's a well regarded and widely celebrated animator and director doesn't mean he's a well regarded and widely celebrated animator and director, Look, maybe you don't personally like him. Fine, that's your opinion. But opinion doesn't include statements that clearly go against the facts. Denying proof just because you don't want to accept it is utterly insane.

  • @GilbertSmith You're insane and you need to relearn your definition of "popular". Bakshi is not "popular" at all, he's best defined as 'infamous'; reviled for his disgusting creations. The fact that he still remains "underground" to this day and still only doing relatively unknown film festivals is testament to that fact. He did this reputed film and then just fucked off afterwards, never to do anything notable again. His presence in modern or even recent animation is totally nonexistent.

  • @PsychoJosh Clearly there's no convincing you. You live in your own magical world where facts are of no relevance.

Point to those sources. Only then will you have "stomped" anyone. You can't just say "No you're wrong!" and declare yourself the champion of all debate. You have to actually back it up. GASP!

  • @MsMariah61 You need to understand that reviews and sales are two completely different things. Ralph Bakshi has a cult following, as in, a very vocal minority who enjoys his work. Those are the ones writing those reviews. By definition things that get cult followings weren't very popular when they first came out and still aren't that much more popular afterwards. Bakshi's name is certainly well known in animation circles but he is still heavily criticized for the reasons I posted earlier.

  • @MsMariah61 Well that's fine but the majority opinion is that his cartoons are just ugly and disgusting.

  • @MsMariah61 The thing he doesn't realize is that people watch animation precisely to see beauty, to escape from the ugliness and horror that permeates real life, his characters and animations don't do that for people. It just takes them to an uglier and far more horrible world. That's why all his films were commercial disasters. Nobody wants to see anthropomorphic animals fucking and doing cocaine. It's not even remotely funny in the context he presents them in.

  • @MsMariah61 I meant to say nobody finds his "adult" films even slightly erotic or likeable. Ralph Bakshi's films were all commercial failures so that speaks for itself. His character designs are all ugly as fuck, I don't get how he expects anyone to appreciate the "eroticism" of naked girls in his pictures when he animates stuff like a urinating hippopotamus moments earlier.

  • I like the movie better than the comic book.

  • @PshchoJosh It was just my opinion

  • I think that Ralph Bakshi is king of adult animation

  • @j9973 That's pretty funny considering that no one likes his films or finds them even remotely erotic.

  • @PsychoJosh

Actually... It's no one likes you or finds you even remotely erotic...

    Except maybe your mom...

What are you even doing in a Ralph Bakshi video thread?

  • @learrus Taking offense to comments not directed at you and making a "your mom" joke for no reason? What are you even doing talking among adults? Go get your mom to change your diaper kid.

  • @PsychoJosh

    Hahahahahahaha

YOUR IN A THREAD ABOUT A CARTOON THAT HAS CATS FUCKING CROWS YOU RETARD!!!

If there is a single 'reasonable adult' in here, I suggest THE GET THE FUCK OUT BEFORE THEY ARE HORRIBLY SCARED FOR LIFE!

'Go get your mom to change your diaper kid.'... hahahahahaha... You must get beat the fuck up a lot with lines like that...

  • @learrus What the fuck are you screaming about you idiot? I didn't understand a word of that retarded jumbled mess. Learn english sometime.

  • @PsychoJosh

    You don't understand that?

What... Are you an illiterate fuck head?

You must be the product of Sisters fucking Brothers...

    "Go change your diaper"..... hahahahahaha...

If you think that is a 'jumbled up mess'; I suggest you steer clear of these objects you may have noticed littered around the world known as: Books.

They are FULL OF JIBBERISH AND JANGLISH CRAAAAZY COMBINATIONS OF WORDS!!!

    They even have... Paragraphs.

  • @learrus I don't understand why you're screaming at me over a comment that I made a long time ago, thus I don't have a clue what you're babbling about you drooling fucking retard. Nonsensical idiots like you are seriously an inspiration for birth control.

  • @PsychoJosh

Look, only because I run into so many of your type lately am I saying this:

Just because you insist I don't make sense will not convince me that I am not; I am speaking perfectly clear english to you, and apparently you are having a difficult time reading it; and your memory is no excuse as our comments are all listed above.

You sir, are actually the reason birth control should be enforced, and a licence required to produce children.

lol @ All the other anti-PsychoJosh comments...

  • I thought fritz the cat was one of ralph bakshi great films. the others I think are his bests are coonskin, wizards, american pop, hey good lookin and cool world.

  • Is this film still X rated today?

  • @moviedudeinc It's UNRATED on the DVD, would be R if released today

  • @moviedudeinc

The "X" rating was dropped a few years ago.

  • Ha, I actually do kinda like this one. It's so quirky and funny. Not a fave film, by any means though. Did R. Crumb ever say why he hated it so much? I remember hearing that, but not why. I never read the comics, but if it followed the comics so closely, what could be the reason?

  • Oh great, first rat breasts, now CAT breasts!

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • One of the first x-rated cartoon movies and it worked like that.

  • R.I.P FRITZ...

  • Don't forget the voice acting.

  • Robert Crumb hated it because he has an ego bigger than the woman he draws (zinger!)

  • You should do a longer review of Coonskin.

  • The cops voices are so funny...(:

  • Man Robert Crumb was a hypocrite if it was nearly word for word why would he complain? well I suppose it was made without his permission.

  • It wasn't! He was paid for it and got credit for the original books! He wanted screenwriting credit and was told that they weren't allowed to do it because he didn't actually write the screenplay.

  • Crumb's first wife sold all the rights to Fritz to Hollywood so Crumb really didn't see a dime from that sequel

'The Nine Lives Of Fritz The Cat' plus any of the merchadising from the Fritz franchise.

  • That plus Crumb's frustrations over I.R.S. troubles, trying to get his 60s logo "Keep on Truckin " trademarked and other things were what led him to kill off Fritz with an icepick to the head.

  • Actually, no. Crumb made more money off of the Fritz movie than Bakshi (whom Steve Krantz never paid for either film Bakshi made for him -- Fritz or Heavy Traffic). Crumb got teed off because Bakshi was getting more notice than him on 'Fritz'. He sold the rights to Krantz (an independent producer, not "Hollywood") because he wanted to get famous. That's why he let Zwigoff come into his house and shoot his family.

  • I think the reason he let Zwigoff film 'Crumb' was because he and Zwigoff were old friends, These days though with all the attention that film brought him and the way Crumb feels about fame and publicity, plus the attention it brought to some members of his family, I think it's likely he may have come to regret that decision.

  • Crumb was also reluctant about Bakshi doing a Fritz The Cat film, His first wife persuaded him to get behind it for the money, but Crumb always had misgivings about it. As to Krantz, Crumb considered him to be something of a shark in his words "He was the butcher, And I was the meat".

  • The icepick comic came out before Nine Lives. The reason Crumb never acknowledges that movie is because he doesn't want to be put in a position where he would be forced to say "well, at least Bakshi's movie was better than that sequel", and he doesn't want to give Bakshi any credit.

  • Yeah probably not.

  • Hell of a movie though.

  • Oh you kids,

Robert Crumb, The father of Underground Comix, who created Fritz The Cat plus Mr Natural,

    Flakey Foont, Devil Girl,

Schuman The Human and popularized "Keep On Truckin" in the late sixties and changed the face of comix as an artform with the creation of Zap Comix in the late 1960s.

Check on Wikipedia for further information.

  • u shud no that ralph bashki made fritz the cat so u know?

  • Robert Crumb first created Fritz The Cat back in the early 1960s in his sketchbook,

The first Fritz story was published in 1964 in a magazine called 'Help'

Fritz became an underground comix staple in the late 1960s,

The Ralph Bakshi film was an animated adaptation of several Crumb comics.

As I said check 'Robert Crumb' or 'Fritz The Cat' on Wikipedia.
