This is really awesome, jus wondering how it´s going. Seems to have slow progress. If it is keep it up and push through, sooner or later I will enjoy watching the final result.
@fatjohn1408 The outward signs of progress have slowed only because in the inward rate of progress has increased somewhat. 2011 was the most productive year to date on the project's development, but none of that is destined for public consideration as it's all ground work to prompt the commencement of full-time production. Once that landmark is actually reached there will be an announcement on both the official website and the Facebook page.
Can anyone see the resemblance between the lunar ferry and the Soviet N1? Both have way too many rocket thrusters, hence overcomplicated propellant plumbing , which brings higher rate of failure. The SaturnV is the only realistic rocket to go.
All of these space craft were designed by Wehrner Von Braun. He made an animated film in the mid 50's with Walt Disney that featured all of these space vehicles. Glencoe made plastic model kits of all of these spacecraft too.
@serpentphoenix The multiple engine profile came from a time when no one single engine was powerful enough to provide the necessary thrust. By grouping engines the necessary thrust was attained. Even the Saturn V had a cluster of engines. Yes, there was complicated plumbing involved, but von Braun was adamant to keep it all as simplified and achievable as possible. The advantage of multiples was redundancy. There was perpetual anxiety about the USA's LM with its one engine for ascent.
Watching again after a few months, I wanted to say my favourite effects are the TV transmissions. Kids today just don't know how bad TV reception was back then, and how pretty much, in my case, the TV set was broken as often as it was working because of a burned out tube. The entire Apollo 11 mission was watched at someone else's house.
I also enjoy the film stock effects, like in the staging sequence, then you throw in a "modern" looking very clean shot, like of the space station. Beautiful.
Perhaps in the end this film will inspire some to think, "Wow, look how things might have been. But what if we NOW applied ourselves and made this sort of thing a reality?" How many great steps in exploration have occurred because someone was inspired both in big ways and small? Seek to inspire and plant the seeds of inspiration, and I think You'll do just that!
I had a similar wish to make a film about the space program as it was envisioned later in the early sixties with the 5 legged bubble faced LEM, the Gemini/MOL and DynaSoar space plane. I am very much impressed with your trailer.
@artfrankmiami Thank you for your encouraging words! Check out Dan Roam's "Deep Cold" website for animations depicting some of the 1960s space program proposed projects that were never to be realised.
This actually makes me really depressed because not only did none of this happen but it doesn't even seem possible to generate enough interest even to make the film happen.
@nineteenthly I am trying my level best to make the film happen, but there are certain steps that have to be taken in the right order in order to do it right. Rest assured, some of those steps are taking place even now (these teasers are mere tips of the iceberg and also to reassure fans I'm still alive), but many steps are imperceptible by folks outside the project because so little of the film is being publicised.
@DaveRSander Thanks. Sorry to be negative. I'm just wondering if i can do anything to help. Don't want to waste your time but i wonder if i can offer anything in the way of putting you in touch with anyone, publicising it further or something else? I don't work in a relevant area but i do live in a city with the National Space Centre and i know a professional astronomer. I'll brainstorm this and see what i can think of.
@Tiwake This will hit theatres once it's completed and distributed, which will depend entirely on when funding can be got to finish it. The teasers are released to indicate the project is still alive (it started in 2000), developed and funded by the film maker himself.
What can we do? Support engineers and entrepreneurs, like Richard Branson and Burt Rutan and the rest. Don't rely on government and big business to make it happen.
@DaveRSander I applaud your initiative and determination! When I did "Spaceship Handbook" Which has its largest section covering the Colliers' space program series) it took five years, and I thought that was an eternity. At 11 years and counting I wish you the best at finding the funding and finishing the project!
@hagerty1952 Thanks Jack. It's slow going because I have to spend time earning a living, but there are opportunities that sometimes arise permitting me time on the project, and it's a great feeling getting into it once again. I'm so keen to see it done, as are a great many people who email me with their support and/or join the Facebook page. Right now I'm working on it pretty solidly while I wait for the next big project to arrive.

Two questions:
When will this hit theater?
What can we do to make these events start happening starting today?
Cheers to the upcoming film, I guess.
*sigh*
