You'll probably call me dumb, but I hardly see the diference between your attack role and your support role, could you explain in wich situations their roles clearly differ please?
this army looks really awesome but i cant really see it working against hoard armies like ork armies 150/180 boyz, infantry guard or nids. How do u deal with them besides the hammerheads?
Love the colour scheme, Was thinking of starting something different for my second army, contemplating either a Guard Veterans list or possibly Tau. Tho ive been advised to maybe wait for the next Tau Codex. Nice army tho!
2+ translates to 2 or more, so 1 would be a fail, everything else a success.
5+ = success on 5 or 6. 1+ and 7+ do not exist and are often considered automatic failures or automatic successes.
Games Workshop has a strange approach to this, as most other systems use an upward threshold, where you have to roll below or as high as a certain value. If the threshold is e.g. 4, a success would be a roll of either 1,2,3 or 4.
I have tau, or starting it, i was confused when you said that you can deploy the drones from piranha or devilfish units. How do you "Deploy" them in the middle of the field?
@GmodWolfMan No, not any more. Doesn't work. Too many fast moving stuff nowadays. Now I use kroot, piranha and drone speedbumps to protect an all-foot troop, battlesuit army.
I know this isnt exactly related ^^ but does anyone have any advice about transporting a tau army? Ive got a couple of devilfish a hammerhead and battlesuits and they are pretty big vehcles. I cant think of a practical box that is cheap but can carry them effectively while provding them good protection.
@thewalkereffect I keep all infantry sized models in the citadel carrying case. All other units (krootox, crisis suits, broadsides, vehicles) are just sitting in the cover of a paper box. This works well as long as youre mindful of the box (dont drop it or shake it a bunch). I don't glue the flying bases into suits, vehicles, or drones. This prevents them from snapping off during transport and is probably my number 1 piece of advice.
mate ive got too be fare that is a in presive army its a like from me and ive subscribed would you be able too check out my videos soon ye and i collect tau there amazing ive made my own tau bane blade aswell
@VV0lfdalE Ok thank you very mcuh. I was afraid of fielding them without a squad. And I guess, if you don't mind answering this question too, I don't understand the Devil fish drones. Can they attack with the devil fish or do they attack separately?
Do you give your Broadsides Advanced stabilisation systems or multi trackers, and why do you take that over the other? thanks in advance for the advice!
Hi there mate, I was wondering what is your opinion of Kroot I've found the quite effective in a number of games, particularly against a Nids deepstrike army, orks etc . How would you deal with that type of army with this list?
Bikes, vanguard veterans, assault terminators, ironclad dreadnoughts, devastator squads, and drop pods will reek havoc on this list. You need some kroot to tie close combat troops up and keep deep strikers and fast soldiers/vehicles away from your tanks.
ive watched all of your vids and i want to thank you for taking the time to make these vids and i wanted to let you know how helpful they have been to me as a tau player. im still in the process of trying to come up with a list that i reall like but im having alot of trouble against certain armies but do really really well against others..do you have any advice on how to fix these holes in my list or just maybe some info on how to use the tau to fight?
I really liked hearing your points on the warfish vs the dumbfish. I have only ever used the dubmfish, or even worse (I never took the MT with it, now I will) and now I think I have a good justification! Thanks, keep up the good work. Do yu go ASS on the broadsides, or TA? I almost alway go TA, but miss the mobility. Toughest choice in the book for me. Mine never hit at BS3, even twin linked!

Flawless paint scheme bro.I use a white armor with red details, black weapons and bronze decals myself. The vehicles have a red Japanese rising sun scheme on their chasis and the commander has a hand painted red chinese dragon on his suit.I noticed the lack of stealthsuits and pathfinder teams.Would you say these 2 are not THAT compulsory for playing Tau?What about gun drones teams? Also,I would ditch one of the devilfish and make the other 2 FW teams 12-strong,why use such small 6 man teams? Peace
Just a little side note, not really relevant, but I think sniper drones should have been a fast attack choice, rather than heavy support. More people would use them then. Also, it would have been nice if hammerheads could take sniper drones as attached drones. I don't see why not...
@nmk329, Tau's strength is ranged combat. Attempting to branch out into something that (even with Kroot) they're not too good at is a recipe for a 'jack of all trades, master of none'-type army that will get its butt handed to it most of the time.
@Porty1119 Most people consider "balance" to be key in warhammer if your overspecialized it's only a matter of time till you face an army/commader that will be able to exploit the weakness of your specialization
i always take a squad of like 15 kroot and ive been extremely pleased so far. For what it costs it can be extremely handy. Going to ground on a forest objective is amazing. If there's no forest they can outflank and shoot or assault a squishy unit or AV 10 vehicle.
No kroots? hmm. it'd be way to easy for a fast attak to melee your firewarriors. Its all range and firepower but no melee except for yourcrisis suits.
@andybj93 Mattering on what kind of Tau you want, There is Mech like with Many suits and vehicles, and there is Marker Tau, with Pathfinders and Marker drones, which help with firing all around the board
DevilFish can have Targeting Array, Hit on 3s, lol so a total of 5 shots 3 up, lol and i always forget about the pinning, Mine's out to be about 150, Points
how much money does it cost to buy an army like this? how long would it take to get a good army (either tau or space wolves) but only spending up to 30 dollars every 1-2 months?
@tauofwar depends where you buy it. I wouldn't buy from GW - their prices are horrendous. I wouldn't trust some random guy on ebay either. Buy from othe internetstops like maelstromgames or waylandgames.
You said Burst Cannon with carbs is 5 shots vs 4 from the SMS, but you wouldn't fire SMS from max range, you'd go to 18, so its really BC + PC = 5 shots vs BC + SMS = 7 shots.
im goin for 60 tau fire warriors. 6 tau hammer heads. 12 battle suits=commander. and 5 devil fish. and 2-3 sky rays. this is for an apocalypse size army. might include more fire warriors and some pirrana.
Who is this Fritz guy? I like his model. I'm not a fan of the warfish either. I think it's interesting that vehicle drones can fire whenever another vehicle weapon can fire. I had always considered them as "passengers" (I misinterpreted the codex entry) and in 5th ed pg66, "models firing from a vehicle... may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at cruising speed that turn". This effectively gives me more movement with firepower when using multitracker :) Thank you.
i tend to have 12 fw with the dum fish so they can hang back and fire untill turn 4 (or if the enamy is realy close) then embark the the fish then zoom up to the objective and clame it. another advantage to having the drones on a fish is they can pin an enamy there for you have more shots/time to run away. also i take the sargant with marker light and a marker drone so its a posabilaty you will hit on a 2 plus which on average meens your killing 13-14 orks on average when rappid fireing ;)
in order to save points i would replace the 6man squads of fire warriors with 4man squads of devilfish. if you don't plan on ever making the troops leave the transport and in the end it will save you 36points and upgrade your devilfish for free. just an opinion would like some feedback because i am building my own tau army. love the army. i kind of eliminates the taus lack of good close combat skills.
idk there is alot of discussion about using alot of suits, i like suits, and im now trying to build a tournament style tau army, but idk how i should go, any advise?
Without knowing anything about your army, the way you play or anything else, I can't really give you any worthwhile advice. You've seen what I use in the video so that's about all I can tell you.
i am a serious tau collector, and can i just say, u have the best painted tau i have ever seen, better than the legends at gameworkshop, all miniture painters bow at your feet my friend,
that is also a beatiful tau army you have lots of forgeoworld battlesuits...... wow im inshock, your army is a wet dream to me, :)
the only thing you need to make it the perfect army for me is a barracuda, and an XV9 HAZARD SUIT, and ur done, :)
quick question: do twin liked weapons count as 2 of your 3 gear slots on your crisis suits? a speedy response would be apreciated as im trying out my new list tomarrow. thx guys!
Question: I notice with your two Hammerheads, one has a painted green nose... do I assume correctly - as I have done with mine - that one of them is the lead tank?
cuase isnt the "large blast" the 3inch blast marker??
if the "large blast" indicates to the 5 inch like you say ( the apocalypse size marker) then the battle cannon also uses the 5 inch and also the earthshaker cannon.
Dude. there are only 2 blast markers in normal 40k. the small blast (3 inches across) and the large blast (5 inches across). forget any apocalypse blasts. the railgun uses the larger of the two.
@Atrodad I think the confusion comes from the fact that in older editions of 40k, templates were measured in radius and in the newer editions they are measured in diameter. It can confuse anyone who has looked at old edition books and stats in the past.
Regarding Fritz's organization, re: attack/support/defend, I also use something similar. I assign primary and secondary roles to each unit, trying to emphasize the popular concepts of redundancy and duality:
love your vids! i tried the idea of a chep tank killing shas'o. my one is only 94 pts and he cuts through light armour with great efficiancy. i kinda like the sms's on develfishes because it does'nt need l.o.s. i dont need to risk lossing the kill pointand then leave the fire warriors exposed. just my opinion!
I would really like more details on your army and play style. Such as, can you give a more detailed role description of your Piranha? What kind of targets do you aim them at? What is their loadout? Also would it be possible to see a few deployment setups you will typically take?
I really like your stuff, and look forward to your next video.
Piranhas form a squadron and get deployed in the center of the field. I equip them with fusion blasters, targeting arrays for BS4 and D. pods. First turn they move flat out up a flank, whichever one is weaker. This units roles is to move out and try to cause as much mayhem as it can, threatening and melting vehicles, targeting small squads of marines, but really it's there to zip around soaking up fire and keeping the pressure off my core.
Im stuck between Tau and Necron for my first 40K army. Your army and paint job makes me want to go right now to pick up a clone of yours! well...not as good of a paint job..but you know...
i am planning to start collecting tau i want the codex and the battleforce wat should i get after

Tau Devil Fish are the real achilles heel of building a mechanized Tau army with a starting cost of 80 points base.
I find the Disruption Pod, Multi-Tracker, and Sensor Spines the most valuable assets to them, but its a whopping 105 points for a transport.

DissimulationsXfall 1 year ago
@DissimulationsXfall
because 6 fire warriors are 60 points, but kroot (minimum of ten*) are 70 points, so that would be 30 points extra for something he doesn't use.
miniwars123 1 year ago
@miniwars123
You make a good point, but I'm pretty sure 70-60 doesn't equal 30 :P
DissimulationsXfall 1 year ago
@DissimulationsXfall I'd like my troops to be more mobile and more durable. Kroot are too slow and weak.
tauofwar 1 year ago
no kroot?!

i tend to have 12 fw with the dum fish so they can hang back and fire untill turn 4 (or if the enamy is realy close) then embark the the fish then zoom up to the objective and clame it. another advantage to having the drones on a fish is they can pin an enamy there for you have more shots/time to run away. also i take the sargant with marker light and a marker drone so its a posabilaty you will hit on a 2 plus which on average meens your killing 13-14 orks on average when rappid fireing ;)

in order to save points i would replace the 6man squads of fire warriors with 4man squads of devilfish. if you don't plan on ever making the troops leave the transport and in the end it will save you 36points and upgrade your devilfish for free. just an opinion would like some feedback because i am building my own tau army. love the army. i kind of eliminates the taus lack of good close combat skills.
staticbatch 1 year ago
i am sorry i meant 4man teams of pathfinders
not devilfish.
staticbatch 1 year ago
@staticbatch but 6 is the minimum squad size of Fire Warriors. You cannot have 4man squads.
tauofwar 1 year ago
@tauofwar i guess i didnt explin my self
good enough.. the 6 fire wariors cost 60 points and is aunit
4 pathfinders cost 48 points so in the end
you can have three units in devilfish and it
is cheaper and pathfinders can realy help
your other units.
staticbatch 1 year ago
@staticbatch not troops, can't claim objectives, and isn't playable*

idk there is alot of discussion about using alot of suits, i like suits, and im now trying to build a tournament style tau army, but idk how i should go, any advise?
LoTRx40kPeeWee 1 year ago
Without knowing anything about your army, the way you play or anything else, I can't really give you any worthwhile advice. You've seen what I use in the video so that's about all I can tell you.
tauofwar 1 year ago
Yeah can i ask m8 how many points is there in total ?
Arcureem 1 year ago
1850. this list has changed since I posted though, but minimally.

i am a serious tau collector, and can i just say, u have the best painted tau i have ever seen, better than the legends at gameworkshop, all miniture painters bow at your feet my friend,
that is also a beatiful tau army you have lots of forgeoworld battlesuits...... wow im inshock, your army is a wet dream to me, :)
the only thing you need to make it the perfect army for me is a barracuda, and an XV9 HAZARD SUIT, and ur done, :)
very nice... i envy you,

Question: I notice with your two Hammerheads, one has a painted green nose... do I assume correctly - as I have done with mine - that one of them is the lead tank?
ShasoDnarb 2 years ago
hmm, i guess so. really its just a different paint scheme so I can have some variation. I'm against cloning :)

A question to the Tau masters?
In the rulebook refrence section the stats for railgun is 5 inch blast but in the Tau codex it states that its "only" large blast.
the rulebook came out after the tau codex so wich one is correct?
Atrodad 2 years ago
Both are correct. The large blast is the 5 inch blast.
tauofwar 2 years ago
thanx for you reply.
Iam not sure that is right...
cuase isnt the "large blast" the 3inch blast marker??
if the "large blast" indicates to the 5 inch like you say ( the apocalypse size marker) then the battle cannon also uses the 5 inch and also the earthshaker cannon.
in that case when is the 3 inch one used?
Atrodad 2 years ago
Dude. there are only 2 blast markers in normal 40k. the small blast (3 inches across) and the large blast (5 inches across). forget any apocalypse blasts. the railgun uses the larger of the two.
tauofwar 2 years ago
oh ok, thanx.
that clear things up alot.
btw
you have a awsome army.
wondelfull paintjob...looks pro painted.
Atrodad 2 years ago
@Atrodad I think the confusion comes from the fact that in older editions of 40k, templates were measured in radius and in the newer editions they are measured in diameter. It can confuse anyone who has looked at old edition books and stats in the past.
Trueflights 2 years ago
thanks!
tauofwar 2 years ago
Not sure about most of the things you just said. But the 3 inch blast is for Space Marine Rocket launchers and probably more things...
xGhost4000x 2 years ago
thanx for reply.
you are right.
but tauofwar already cleard things upp for me =)

you should make a video on how to paint them im thinking on collecting tau so a video on how to make them would be relly nice.

Regarding Fritz's organization, re: attack/support/defend, I also use something similar. I assign primary and secondary roles to each unit, trying to emphasize the popular concepts of redundancy and duality:
- outflank (i.e. kroot)
- skirmish (i.e. piranha)
- attack (i.e. crisis suits)
- support (i.e. hammerheads)
- defend (i.e. devilfish/warriors)
- special (i.e. pathfinders)

love your vids! i tried the idea of a chep tank killing shas'o. my one is only 94 pts and he cuts through light armour with great efficiancy. i kinda like the sms's on develfishes because it does'nt need l.o.s. i dont need to risk lossing the kill pointand then leave the fire warriors exposed. just my opinion!
vernerhill 2 years ago
Yeah, most people like them better. Really I doubt it makes a huge difference which one you field. Its up to personal preference.
tauofwar 2 years ago
I would really like more details on your army and play style. Such as, can you give a more detailed role description of your Piranha? What kind of targets do you aim them at? What is their loadout? Also would it be possible to see a few deployment setups you will typically take?
I really like your stuff, and look forward to your next video.
SyphonKai 2 years ago
Thanks for the comment. That gives me some ideas for the next video. Which I think will be deployment. cheers!
tauofwar 2 years ago
Piranhas form a squadron and get deployed in the center of the field. I equip them with fusion blasters, targeting arrays for BS4 and D. pods. First turn they move flat out up a flank, whichever one is weaker. This units roles is to move out and try to cause as much mayhem as it can, threatening and melting vehicles, targeting small squads of marines, but really it's there to zip around soaking up fire and keeping the pressure off my core.
tauofwar 2 years ago
Im stuck between Tau and Necron for my first 40K army. Your army and paint job makes me want to go right now to pick up a clone of yours! well...not as good of a paint job..but you know...
