  • Alot of ignorant zenophobic people commenting here.

  • The word "illegal" means against the law. It has nothing to do with calling them immoral. I know hundreds of legal Americans who are poor, sick, old and can't afford a better education. Illegals compete with them on every level. They drain the social programs, raid the food pantries, fraudulently apply for all manner of Government and Catholic Charity help. So basically...this guy thinks that the legal poor should suffer because he's twisting the concept of what's "moral" to him.

  • It's going to be cool when there's no more white people around. I can't wait to live in a mud hut.

  • @mightisright

Who lives in a mud hut?

  • take your humanity, and go back to there own country,

  • this guy is my uncle :P i swear

  • The evil Pope wants more brainwashed idiots who believe Catholic fairytales.. Hense they want more illegals to invide a population of locigal people who laugh at the silly ways of the Vatican.

  • I like this guy, he's like one of those old school compassionate priests you only see in 1940's era foreign films these days.

  • That is exactly what I thought when I watched this. Old school priest from the time when priests were in line with progressive issues and the people.

  • Father Creedon is basically saying, out if sight, out of mind.

Keep the immigrants out with stricter border regulations, but until then be humane to the illegal immigrants.

  • I'm protestant, but I am in accord with Father Creedon. And I do walk the walk. I know several undocumented families in poor living conditions, namely immigrant camps and one room house situations. This issue won't be solved by the government the way things are going. It's up to the church to use its resources to help these people (spiritual and material) and to truly believe it when Jesus said "Love your neighbor as yourself."

  • The Father and his group believe we have infinite resources. First the Church tells people to breed W/O restraint then when the problems of the lack of resources, Hunger, lack of housing then they say to a Northern Neighbor let them move up here so we can all starve together. Remember Jesus followed the Law of Ceaser to the very end.

  • if you dont believe that Jesus places a high value on obeying law read Romans 10 and 13.

  • @ruppertknickerbocker This is so well stated. THANK YOU for understanding the plight of those of us who are suffering because we are poor and were born here.

  • Instead of using the word illegal that seems to offend the sniveling tree huggers, lets use the term CRIMINAL ALIENS because that is what they are.

  • Right on Father!!

Finally some common sense on immigration - sometimes it takes a Catholic to provide true moral leadership.

  • @garrickgroves - Really? Read more son.

  • It seems that every opinion that's positive about solving the issue immigration issue isn't popular among oponents because their racism is more powerful than their so called Christianism.I'm not catholic, but I support his comments. It seems that Virginians don't believe in human rights. I strongly believe that undocumented people aren't criminals as oppositors to reform want the public to believe. How can people pray and sleep if they're inhumane?

  • STB has a point, albeit a tiny, minuscule, narrow to the point of stupidity point. And one he probably came to by accident. Most Mexican illegals are Catholic so the diocese is very hesitant to take a firm stance either way on the immigrant issue. Personally I think closing the border and full amnesty for those already here is the only solution.

  • The catholic elites don't mind our country being overrun by millions of illegal invaders because most of the illegals happen to be catholic. They could care less about U.S. sovereignty or the future of our country. Also, priests like illegal aliens because they don't call the cops when the priests molest their children.

  • Thanks for that comment. This is a good example of how anti-Hispanic fanatics can't be reasoned with or carry on a discussion of the issues.

  • I've figured out why these anti-immigrant fanatics all sound the same. Not long ago, these same clones were in a frenzy about our need for war in Iraq, or a Constitutional amendment to protect married couples from two men kissing, or even the dramatic measures to combat the "war on Christmas," LOL! These are partisan fanatics who take up whatever issues the Republican media gives them.

  • That's an interesting point AuntieM. Back in 2002/2003 any columnist or anyone who criticized the President would be met with hate mail and sometimes threats. Today immigration is the issue. Maybe it is the same people.

  • No, we just mind people like you. Now please leave.
