  • Emo is dead and now they have no fan base.

  • It's a shame they changed from playing HC to emo to well...I'm not even sure what their new stuff is. I can tolerate up to Decemberunderground but the punk side of things is totally gone on Crash Love.

  • one of the best albums ever written

  • do they still play everywher? i wanna see em

  • i love allthe afi songs except the ones after singing sorrow my fav bands still madball 4ever tho

  • 1999 was the greatest AFI era! It was back then when we got "All hallow's EP" and "Black sails in the sunset".

  • This is the perfect mix between Davey wanting a Mowhawk, and Davey doing whatever it is that he does now.

  • @tysnowboard too bad it wasnt davey that wanted the mohawk it was his brother he said so in an interview lol but this album is really effing good ive been listing to it alot recently this and crash love are my favs decembe undergrounds my 3rd then sing the sorrow then art of drowning thenvery proud of ya answer that and my least favorite is shut ur mouth and open your eyes.

  • Épic bass and guitar combination at 1:06---1:18

  • 3 people think justin beiber can rock...

  • the dislike bar is a joint that's lit im gonna roll a joint now.

Thank you very much dislike bar

  • The problem isn't that the new AFI is bad. Its not bad music at all. A lot of the songs on Crash Love are amazing, beautiful. But it doesn't have the same kind of darkesss and power that this music has. Maybe someday they will go back to their Halloween era. It would be cool, even if its not this aggressive.

  • One of my favorite albums from them:)

  • 3 dislikes? damn u shabelluh! its better then the new shit

    :)

  • you don't have to like a direction that a band goes in...(i'm not a huge fan of the new one, with a couple exceptions) but you don't have to use that as an excuse to attack others via the internet, either...

  • I'm ride or die all things afi

  • God damn, AFI used to kick some ass. I'm not gonna be a dick and bash on new AFI, because no matter what, I'll always have this shit. I actually didn't even mind the sing the sorrow shit, but the shit they're doing now has just gone too far for me. Long live the old shit though.

  • @IclubBabySeals89 AMEN. Just saw their newest video, and despite it not being punch your grandma in the throat punk, or super deep and dark, it immediately made me want to look up old AFI again!!!!

  • I've just recently got into AFI seriously and I've been working on listening to their albums backwards so I'm up to this album now. Funny thing is, I really like all of them so far =D I think Decemberunderground might still be my favorite (gonna get raped for saying that, I know) but all of them are great.

  • @TheXStrickenXOne Just your opinion! It's just hard for some people to accept the new AFI that's all, they might not be able to help it. Its your choice though. I like almost everything AFI too, hoe heard it all yet haha :)

  • @assssin3 i applaud you december underground is great crash love too who else released a great album on 6/6/6 afi thats it and they play their older songs at shows anyway to please the new fans along with the ones who like there older stuff and never gave up on there change to something greater.

  • @willbirkin666 Sure dude! I know it's a different thing but I suppose the principle applies to wrestling too. I used to watch it as a kid all the time but now all my favorites have gone I just don't see it as the same anymore. It's okay to watch, but not the same. I think music and bands who change also works in a similar way. Thanks too! :)

  • you 3 dislikers will be found

  • Damn, i mean.. i hate how AFI turned like emoish screamy farts, but this is some pretty good punk! i love the 90s

  • @ApparitionOfficial well you dont know what is emo music ...

  • ipersonally dont like there new stuff but ur right complaining wont work but u have to look at it this way the band completly changed from there sound to there look, they look and sound like another kroq band, in which they never were, i mean it just kinda sounds like they wanted to make more money and evolved into what the label which they switched wanted them to and also they were trying to attract a new audience, and well, i dont fault afi, i would do the same but i just miss there energy

  • this is afi back when they sucked ass in 1999. they still suck today, it just sounds even more emo.

  • @Brimboras if you dont like us ranting on how nickleback sucks then stop hating on AFI

  • @Brimboras queer

  • Comment removed

  • god that snare

  • best album ever

  • I'm waiting for a good album from them too. I'm really in to Blaqk Audio right now. I actually kinda liked DU, but my favourite album is still AoD or BSitS.

  • yeah, new afi sux

  • the breakdown in this song is so much better than any one I've heard in a metalcore song, no hate, just what I think

  • I'm just glad they did this album. I've read that Davie can't carry these notes anymore anyway, so I don't care if they're all emo and doing different stuff. I don't care for the emo stuff, but I'm sure they're good at it none the less.

  • does anyone feel this intro and the last kiss intro are somewhat similar. i'm not hating, just saying...

  • epic win of a song. shut your mouth and black sails are my convoy tunes when i go to iraq

  • Best part: 2:30 to 4:01

  • Everybody!!!! My afi poeples!!! Go to "baby oh" now and flag it as innapropriate, or dislike it!!! Then we will slowly bring justin beieber off the web for good!! ( lmao this is corny :p) so, my afi fellows, we shall ALL untite as afi fans and bring the "beaver" DOWN!!

  • you all sound like the most unloyal bunch of saps that ever called themselves AFI fans. You got a problem with the way AFI sounds now? Take that problem, write it down on a piece of paper, bend over, and shove it up your ass. AFI kicks ass

  • @Shabelluh i love that comment

  • @Shabelluh well said!

  • @Shabelluh I feel as if you got the ass part from Let's Go To Prison... (:

  • @RawrrItsJohn i assure you the imagery was purely my own.

  • @Shabelluh Oh, alright then.

  • @Shabelluh Thank you so much, that was very well said! I completely agree!!

    AFI = Best Band EVER

  • @Shabelluh I don't have prob!

  • @helloieatchicken Nice to see another AFI fan that isn't separating AFI into "old" and "new". They're as awesome as they've always been.

  • @Shabelluh i know. when I talk to some of my df friends they say they'd buy black sails and aod but illegally download miss murder. that offends me.

  • @helloieatchicken yeah although Art of Drowning is probably my favorite AFI album except for maybe Answer That and Stay Fashionable. But I still love Miss Murder enough to buy it too. (also, have you heard the uk radio edit of Miss Murder? it's fucking awesome)

  • @Shabelluh i agree. though my fav. album is Black Sails in the Sunset, fav ep is 336. the uk edit is AWESOME so is the extended music video

  • @Shabelluh This comment is win. I love you.

  • @shaneistheog I love you too. (Completely homo)

  • @Shabelluh It's really disappointing though. I used to love AFI up until about '03-'04. It's weird to think that it's been almost 8 years since they made anything good. Their old stuff still holds a special place in my heart though, and I still hold out hope that they'll make a good album again one day, even though it's very doubtful. I BLAME JEFFREY STAR!

  • @Micksqueeb Whatever floats your boat man. I still love Crash Love, but I'm glad you haven't 'given up hope'. Try listening to Crash Love again it's actually quite good.

  • @Shabelluh you rock

  • @magicx3434 No, AFI rocks

but thankee verr much, I'm flattered.

  • @Shabelluh I stand behind your statement i'v heard these guys for over 10 yrs! All you ignorant fucks dont know ur ass from ur elbow if shit talk these guys lets you do any better!!

  • @Shabelluh so if i don't like a few of their albums...then that means im not a "real fan"....doesnt seem that fair if you ask me

  • @Shabelluh shabelluh, go die. you aren't real you faggot. go listen to yellowcard.

  • @areyouseriousshit I'm not real? Huh, that's news to me. And I feel like I'm above questioning random people's sexuality over the internet, although I will take the time to say I'm not a faggot, not that it should actually matter.

  • @Shabelluh fuck you. most punks dont go from liking hc to emo. to like a band, you dont have to like all their music, especially if they grew up to become something different.

  • @rg813 Most punks listen to whatever the fuck they want.

  • @Shabelluh new afi sux u fag keep wearing skin tight pants homo

  • @umbora the whole "ur a fag" response over the internet kinda became overused about a decade ago now. I'm not gay, I'd sure as hell never wear skinny jeans, and I'm probably a damn sight nicer than you. So kindly go back to failing at whatever it is you like to fail at.

    :)

  • @Shabelluh This old argument...People not liking their current sound is their own fucking opinion and they are absolutely entitled to it...who are you to tell them that they're "unloyal saps"? They don't like it. Sounds like you're just liking them just because they're AFI which makes you the dip shit bud. :) Have a wonderful evening! PS. Their last album was utter garbage to my ears. I don't have to like it just because I'm an AFI fan.

  • @Shabelluh: Sorry some of us don't like shitty albums like Decemberunderground. Sorry some of us cringe when we hear Davey's clean vocals. We don't fucking like it, get the fuck over it.

  • all of their songs from art of drowing & below are the real good true a.f.i. the new stuff sucks and is a complete disgrace to the band.

  • not much people would like this if they heard it in radio unlike MISS MURDER

so thats why they sold out problably

  • people dont really understand.....when you form a band it IS all about the music, making fans happy, and having fun.....but when you get that "deal" you've been gunning for for years.....and all that money starts comin in...you change and your band changes without you even realizing it did...im not gonna say who i am but my brother whose a country singer got that "deal" and i became more well known as a comic...the money changed both of us(more him than me) and now we hardly even talk..it sucks

  • @BlakeTahoe From 8 to 17 subscribers?

  • I remember this was the first album I got from Napster when my family finally decided to get internet. I wish they didn't change after this, but whatever.

  • great old AFI songs

  • AFI was cool before they went mainstream now ther just sellouts... punks dont do it for the money they do it for the kids the people that dont have shit to turn to but the music.... thats why new afi sucks!!!

  • You all think that AFI sucks because theyre selling more albums now. Are you saying that they don't have a right to make more money? Why don't you answer that and stay fashionable?

  • @haiguizeify never said they don't have the right. but since when has this style of music really been about making money? which is why they are sellouts.

  • why is it that every time i go on youtube and listen to afi people are arguing on how much they suck now? seriosly, poeple give it a break! afi may have changed, but they didnt sell out, they just epirimented. and i feel fo one they got alot better. people say they sell out, but they still have a unique sound, which means they havent sold out. just listen to their new stuff, actually give it a try, and you shoud see its all great stuff.

  • yer theyre shit now... and do play some shit that sounds commercial... probably not on purpose... but i wouldnt complain if i was being paid hundreds of thousands to play in a shit band.... at least they made some decent tunes like from this album before they made there money

  • Im retarded and 18 or younger and dont know what goog music is so I listen to it for free on youtube all day, I guess Im a loser because I know Ive just gotta be the only one who does this. Also make fun of jews haha jew suck!

  • @genitalgoddess And I notice you're 22.... so don't get being too harsh on the 18yr olds - You were hardly there in the hayday now where you! I only just caught the end

  • @genitalgoddess Exactly....

  • they are shit now... but i will still continue to listen to them... their old songs that is

  • @Dustin795 yeah i really dont like most of the kids in the new afis scene, most of them all weirdos i think theyre still pretty good, sometimes

  • in my opinion all of their music is great and AFI is the best!!

  • @genitalgoddess i bet youre over 30 and live with your mother AND are a virgin

  • @genitalgoddess I'm 16. At least I know what great music is at such a "young" age, unlike my friends who like pop trash.

  • The pinnicle of AFI's greatness.

  • Great music.. and come on guys just respect music for what it is.. bands change as do people. At least im not reading about his hair >_>

  • this is how it was non of this ms murder bullshit ... just shows where people would go for fame and shit

  • I personally think Davey sings better than he used to...only because he shows his actual voice in the songs more than he used to. All the screaming probably made it really tough on his vocal chords, and that's why he had surgery.

  • ugh i hate their new song this is the good shit

  • When did Davey have his operation?

  • 2004.

  • @manthatyoufear777 i believe it was late 2004 early 2005..

  • AFI at their best.

  • fuck every band is a ''sell out''

they sold out before you ever even knew who they were

accept that and your life will be easier

    AFI are just AFI

always have been always will be

  • Black sails + sing of sorror = THE BEST ALBUMS EVER MADE BY ANY BAND

  • pretty good, but scratch sing the sorrow and add

shut your mouth and open your eyes or art of drowning :P

  • spelled sorrow wrong

  • incorrect, dont forget to add +art of drowning then your right

  • They dident change Becuase they "wanted to", You really think davy wants his fans to think this of him as a sell out? they did becuase davy had surgury on his vocal cords. He cant do much of this hardcore screaming and shit any more. Forced to change. And sing the sorrow by far was the best album of theres.

  • i highly doubt they'd still being music if they didn't want to be making the style they are making

  • Why do you think that? They have been in AFI since they were like 18 maybe even before that. You think just becuase Davy cant sing like he used to they would want to stop playing? They still have to make a living dude and music is all they know im guessing. And there new stuff is not that bad really. I do agree Sing the sorrow was way better tho.

  • anybody know a good tab for this? all i can find are shity ones that aren't even close

  • dude afi is great, all their punk shit is awesome, their emo stuff is pretty good. i hate crash love and the song "love like winter" but love everything else

  • They change by what they want to play the fans can either follow or not.

  • This is definitely their best CD. Art of drowning is when they took a turn for the worst, although it had a couple decent songs

  • in my opinion. sing the sorrow was th best.

  • this is the shit that everyone has to admit is awesome right here afi at their greatest hour, in my opinion black sails and shut your mouth were their greatest albums, everything else is awesome as well but in my opinion those are the best, when afi was on top of the world :D

  • I love all AFI. Perhaps if you were real fans of them, you'd understand that they don't really give a shit what you think and do whatever the hell they want. That's what TRUE musician think like. If you really love them, you'd know that by now.

  • they do give a shit bitch cuz without their fans they wouldnt be who they are

musicians who think like they dont give a fuck drop cuz it shows iin their music

  • Six words: Ask Jade how much they care.

More words: they were interviewed several times about it, and they said themselves that if they started really caring about chart position or whatever fans say, then they'd really fail because the top musics could change away from you. They're just plain proud of the sound they create because THEY LIKE IT, it doesn't matter who else does.

  • They love their fans and they care of your opinions, yes, but they want their albums to sound a certain way and they will make their albums sound that way and your complaints won't change that.

  • They changed their style because they WANTED to. Maybe you should take your own advice and stfu!

  • amen

  • that mrsodabelly kid's a fag

  • once again another ignorant person whos buying that they have changed becuase they want to. Davy had surgury on his vocal cords and can not sing like he used to... Stfu and stop posting something to sound smart just becuase someone else posted the exact same thing 8 lines up as you, Get your facts right and stop spreading bs rumors.

  • Listen to me, assface, I'm not gonna play nice with you shitheads anymore. I DON"T GIVE A SHIT WHAT YOU THINK! okay? Not shut the hell up and LEAVE ME ALONE!

  • thats not the only reason why they changed. they changed just like any other band. they grew. with progression comes change. thats life.

  • @1cjl2 nice.

  • Come on people, they've been a band for over 20 years! Bands change, they cant keep doing the same stuff over and over.

  • top 3 from this album"at a glance, last kiss, god called in sick today

  • @AFIForever1 replace at a glance with clove smoke catharsis and our lists are the same =]

  • The chorus reminds me of a catholic hymn, ironically.

  • the album will be 11 years old on my birthday may 18 2010, i miss those days :(

  • 1:07 to 1:40 IS SOOOO COOOL!

  • FUCK YAH

  • this song starts a lot like "the last kiss" :p

  • It does

  • be that as it may

  • its about a failing relationship, weather it be spiritual or physical. it talks about both. the other has turned their back on him, and found something new.

  • Guitar sounds a lot like Mark's style

  • canes... that makes a lot of sense, but how did you find that out, or is that just what you assume the songs about??

  • What if could go to sleep for days,

    Would you count the hours,

Or would your restlessness consume fading memories of me?

  • ya get it now?

  • this song is about what was going through jesus christ mind the day before he knew he was going to be crucified

  • You might be on to something there.

  • Well, I haven't thought of that. Kinda would make sense, considering how God Called in Sick Today pretty much sounds like what Jesus's more human side was thinking as he was in the cross.

Possible, as Davey went to Catholic school. And while he has made it clear he dislikes organized religion, we don't know his beliefs.

  • its a 3 part saga

    at a glance

    god called in sick today

    and midnight sun

  • is it just me or are the waves moving?

  • I totally agree with you on that

  • " I don't care what becomes of me"

  • A MEN!!!!

  • Oh yeah "fuck new AFI" to some people this is "new AFI" you moron.

And bands do change over time.

  • New AFI is Sing The Sorrow to present. Before that is old. That's because before Sorrow they weren't big and they were punk. Once Sing The Sorrow came, they changed their sound completely and they suddenly went big. Now they modified that sound for an even more popy sound, and continue to sell a lot. True music doesn't sell. It's the ultimate fact of the music industry.

  • "True music doesn't sell". sir, mind telling that to the likes of Pink Floyd, Dead Kennedies, and Ramones?

  • DK and Ramones are exceptions (even though the most they've gone is gold). There are rare exceptions out there. It wasn't too aparent back in the 80s, it's more valid today. What good band gets any notariety these days?

  • OK, I agree with the part about nowadays.

I personally highly enjoy Sing the Sorrow (though less than the two previous albums) and find decemberunderground to be somewhat good (though flawed in many aspects, such as production/mixing).

Crash Love, however, has three great songs, a couple of acceptable ones, and tons of crap. 4/10 (and 1/10 as a true AFI album), if you ask me.

  • Crash love was shit in my opinion, every track. It's all a bunch of emo bullshit. It's much too polished as well. It is the pinncial of their sellout status. Their shows have become shit too. I went to see them in 99 right after this album was released, it was fucking awsome. I went to see them this year, terrible. I needed binoculars to see Davey whereas in 99 I was doing stage dives right next to him. Now, all it takes is an unsuccessful album to disband.

  • Well, eveyrone has different opinions.

Anyways, we can only hope that they say what wrong they've done and go back to do better (yet nowehre as good as their old) stuff.Has happened to other bands.

  • i think crash love is okay but its not their greatest album.

  • yah i agree decemberunderground was okay but no where near their best and as for crash love well i wouldn't necessarily say it was an attempt at re living these days like some people say but its just not the real afi that we all know and love i don't know what happen between 2003 and 2006 but it shouldn't have happens between 2000 and 2003 was already a "big change" as some would say and it's kinna true you can tell the difference but i still love STS

  • @richnfillproductions i agree to an extent, but i wouldnt say the beatles, jimi hendrix and basically any big name in the history of music isnt true music because its sold millions of copies. but i suppose its different nowadays, the record companies decide what sells leaving the true music in the dust.

  • @richnfillproductions They kept their standard progression during STS.

They DID become famous because of STS, but they didn't change their sound because of it.

Now DU was their first big money album, and you could argue relentlessly that they changed their sound during it. I would agree with such an argument, yet I'd say that it followed their standard progression, especially if you consider their techno themes throughout STS. Simply standard.

Mebbe they sold out on CL, but I won't say it.

  • @SikoNoriko I wouldn't say they sold out because they changed their sound. Bands do that. But they signed to Interscope- a big label owned by UMG (the creators of commercialized corporate music). If you want the definition of sellout, look up UMG. They also play huge places that demand big prices, instead of the small places that might not get as much $ but will provide a more in-reach and enjoyable show. If it was just their sound they wouldn't have sold out. They did a lot more than that.

  • @murcielago06gt Last show I saw of theirs was in Atlanta at The Tabernacle, which is a fairly small place. I want to say that I only paid eighty or so bucks a ticket since I ordered them months ahead of time.

  • @SikoNoriko Okay, first off, the Tabernacle is friggin massive. It is absolutely huge. Second, only $80? Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. You want to see a real punk show, you go to a small place that fits 1000 standers at most and pay at the very most $25 a ticket (for a good set of bands). $80 is absurd. I've never heard of a ticket costing so much. You don't call that selling out? They probably got $20K to show up that night. $80....un fucking believable. Now I hate them.

  • @murcielago06gt Nah man, a place that is massive is the Hi Fi Ampitheatre. Eighty bucks is a fraction of the almost two hundred bucks a ticket I paid for my tickets to Project Revolution almost six years ago. AFI has been around for a lot longer than The Used or Linkin Park, and nearly as long as Korn and Snoop Dog, but still, after gathering fame, do smaller shows than these artists.

  • @SikoNoriko You're right, the Hi Fi Ampitheatre is extremely huge. But the Tabernacle is huge as well. $80 for a ticket is absurd, $200 is unheard of. I recently went to see Suicidal Tendencies, DRI, Underdog, and Cro Mags for $25 at the Palladium in Worcester. Biggest place I've ever been to, and the most I've ever spent for a ticket. Anyone who costs more to see is a true sellout. My brother said he paid $12 to see AFI in 1999 at a venue with a 1000 person capacity (all standing).

  • @murcielago06gt I can't disagree with that; prices are skyhigh for everything. Marlboro are huge sellouts, going from two bucks a pack to six bucks a pack (in Alabama) in ten years.

That being said, with inflation as it is paying twenty or so bucks eleven years ago and paying eighty or so bucks now is about standard, ya know?

  • @SikoNoriko 11 years ago $12 was the equivalent of $16 today. AFI used to be cheap to go see, now it's ridiculous. And Marlboro, I did laugh at that. But it's not them, it's Alabama. Of the $4 rise, $.50 of that was to Marlboro and $3.50 was a rise in taxes. Here in CT, a pack of Marlboros are $9.50. $6.75 of it is taxes.

  • @murcielago06gt I said a two dollar pack of smokes rose to six bucks; a three hundred percent increase.

A twenty five dollar ticket rose three hundred percent to seventy five (eighty dollars roughly) per ticket.

That being said; they're still an awesome band.

  • This is not " new AFI"

  • nor is it old AFI, its mid

  • "WHAT IF I COULD GO TO SLEEP FOR DAYS!" my favorite line
