Even more ludicrously, assigning an incomprehensible concept, like God, with Human traits like a personality is also incredibly short sighted and unwise.
Good post. The reasoning is sound. Man did "invent" Religion as a means of attempting to explain the unexplainable. Run the clock forward to one of the stumbling blocks in our understanding today, say Black Holes or, more prominently, The Big Bang and again, the concept of God arises. I.e. a means to "explain away" on why the Big Bang got started, even though Science should be firmly fixed on looking at the "how". In any case, the fact of the matter is that we still have a long, LONG way to go.

Look at how many are in the 3rd movie, and the funding for trips to make speeches all over the world. @8tropos Jacque was associating one of three main branches of philosophy (metaphysics) w/ mysticism but from my experiences in a philosophy class, there is nothing supernatural about a study that is dedicated to understanding natural reality by means of logic. Religion is not the only thing filled w/ dogmas but so is the 'scientific method', which claims that everything is observable with the 5 senses, but Aristotle and Plato proved this notion to be false a long time ago.

The big difference between religion and science is that the latter is always in search for the falsification of their - what you call - scientific dogma's. So comparing religion with science philosophically is a hard thing to do if you ask me.

Good post. The reasoning is sound. Man did "invent" Religion as a means of attempting to explain the unexplainable. Run the clock forward to one of the stumbling blocks in our understanding today, say Black Holes or, more prominently, The Big Bang and again, the concept of God arises. I.e. a means to "explain away" on why the Big Bang got started, even though Science should be firmly fixed on looking at the "how". In any case, the fact of the matter is that we still have a long, LONG way to go.
