Yep , your right acetrucks1.the 90 is a V8 and its in the other video.......as for a series having style and class, i think maybe "character" and "Looks" would be better words.
@sheldonv8 tbh i dont really think it is a fair test between them as the 90 is newer and coil sprung and more to the point it has a bigger engine with a lot more power
that land rover cud have got up ther no bother more to the point there isnt a 90 in the vid any way. the 90s and defenders are better but they were built after the series so the company had a chance to make things better like diff lock and coil springs, but i still prefer a good old series land rover they have much more style and class!
Ok...90's are slightly better in many offropad situations due to more power and slightly better articulation derived from their coil springs.
Given that...I think Series are actually the more rugged and better built. Plus: you can start em w/ a hand-crank; they have a split windshield (easy to replace one section); They have Galvanized bumpers, windshields, and end-capping UNLIKE themerely PAINTED ones on the 90; They have bulkhead behind front seats...stronger.
series are lighter wieght but defender have coil springs but a slightly longer wheel base and wider track defender are better offroaders but series have more character
Looking at the splash of the tyres, obviously our poor absent-minded driver was once again forgot to engange 4 Low Gear (or, turn front free-wheel locks off). The angle is not too steep. I could easily tackle it with my "Lenih" (1970 Series IIA 109 Station Wagon; original stocks) and beat that 90's ass like I did in many occassions (with ... off course ... all proper gears enganged).
cant compare a 109 and a 90, an 88 and a 90 or a 109 and a 110 would be fair. own a 90 td5 and a diesel 1979 series III, might be Im better at driving the series, but it sure kicks the 90's ass.
J354CAO is obviously a member of the PC brigade, who also happens to own many landrovers and i should think he helped design them. if he was any sort of landrover owner he would completely understand the fun in greenlaning. Que abusive response....
land rover defender is the best 4x4 ever made. suzuki ROLF!! LOL. the only good thing about them is if you roll it you can leave it where it is and not worry about losing much money. id be pissed if my defender turned over even on a 1990 plate its still booked at £3000.
Come on now anyone that has spent any time at any 4x4 activity can see a mile away landrovers aint up to the job a jimny with at's will out perform a landrover that has had few ££££ spent on it they are gash!!! some look nice even farmers starting to see sense and using toyotas
if they are that shit why do the keep their price so well? easy to fix 1 spanner and hammer fits all you can roll it take the whole body off and put new panals on every panal can be changed easy.
im on about the defender 90 not a disco or free lander they cant go anywhere near the places where a 90 can go they have fat arses and ground out on hills.
I would say the a lifted disco with mud tyres is a lot better than lifted 90 with muds. I am only saying what i see went to 10 or 15 4x4 meets before i decided what to buy and after watching plenty of action decided landrovers not up to much suzukis miles ahead!!
There´s no comparisson at all.... a long chassis has more troubles in that reduced space to take run and face the bank, and so to articulate its suspension and grab better its wheels.... the 90 has more advantage of course.
i love a nice series, that is mine buts its just a road going tow mobile and a bit of summer fun (tdi in it now) you dont see many doing punch challenges now, reason is Sheldons 90 and my Range rover etc can be modified so much more than a leafer! and thats coming from a series driver!!!!
your just not trying if you can modify a series as much as you can a coiler, if a part doesn't exist make it from scratch or modify disco/rangie/defender bits too fit
Well my 90 is 20 years old and has no rust...show me a series with a soild bulkhead and as for plastic what are you on about? Are you sure you aint been lookin at a suzuki???
My 88" Series 3 has a lot more class, and can p on most 90's....How many 90's do you think will still be around after 30 years? ..... Q) Why do some people spend about £90 on a peice of 'plastic'? ~who's only function is to make a Series Vehicle, look like an ugly 90??
....A) Because they reckon thats all a 90's worth! ;)
its washed out, big hole under left front wheel 2! we new it wouldnt come out as it was on little road tyres and stock hight, the 1st thing hittin the bank is the bumper.... thanks anyway for the benefit of your many years experience (im sure)!it is a 109 petrol at the end of the day.
Acetrucks has a good point. Is the 90 raised as well?

If the series was a shorty you might have a point (but then again, it would have made it easily ;) )
You can't compare two trucks with huge differences in wheelbase, engine size, tyres etc.

not a very good driver. But defenders are probably better than a series. Land rovers are still the best 4x4 though.
