  • the only man that can defeat bruce lee is the one who trained him and that would be that man

  • Wing Chun surely has one of the best defending techniques among all martial arts. Patience, observation, lot of blocks, fast counters and smart evasions.

But the thing I really don't appreciate in Wing Chun, or just don't understand in it is offensive. The lack of breathing technique is evident (in surprising contrast to most kung fu styles), and, what's more important, the speed and multicipity above effectiveness, espacially in punching.

  • @LongLiveTrueFreedom I mean why throw 20 weak, inaccurate yet super speed punches to the chest, instead of punching once in the head with precision and power to KO your foe with single strike? It's faster, saves energy and I guess doesn't take so much time to master. I don't belive it's just suppose to look cool. That punching movements are very shocking for me since they do not seem to match in such precise, patient art. But well it's just me. Maybe I just don't get it :D

  • @LongLiveTrueFreedom im by no means an expert of wing chun. so heres a vid from Human Weapon i found. Start at 2:00 min for the break down of the punch. you right that it doesnt focus on breathing as much like other chinese kung fu or boxing. the way i see wing chun its a defensive counter striking art where they stay up close to to their opponent constantly pressuring the opponent reducing his wind up power, and then when theres an opening "ground and pound" style.

  • ip man 1&2 dope as hell!!!!! haven't seen 3, but it is one out there. the dopest scene is when he punches my man 100 times in a milisecond!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how he juggles Jin at around the 1:40 mark.

  • najlepszy film kung fu w historii!!!!!!

  • Thug? IIRC the "thug" was a Northern master who came to Guangzhou to challenge any Southern masters who dared to stand up to him, in order to definitively prove that Northern martial arts was better.

But still, for fuck's sake, this movie was 50% pandering. The Northerners looked like disheveled hobos while Ip Man wore fancy robes and lived in a mansion (granted, he was already rich to begin with), while the JPN lieutenant looked like the most villainous archtypical Jap ever. And I'm Cantonese.

  • @ScientificNoodles Still, it was a very well executed kung fu movie, and the first few times through I actually enjoyed the hell out of it. Then I started noticing all the subtle undertones and got a bit turned off. Could have done w/o all this "holier than them" BS, while Donnie's trying to preach about virtuousness and pacifism. But I guess, like any good action blockbuster, you have take some artistic liberties in order to keep the entertainment value high.

  • @ScientificNoodles I agree. the Chinese nationalism in the movies was disgusting. I'm Cantonese myself and I'm shocked at how there wasn't a more neutral undertone given it's literally been a movie made less than a decade ago. Come on, it's too easy to paint everyone in the same brush.

  • @AWDracer Hmmm. So I wasn't the only one that noticed. The intentional bias is def understandable, since this film was aimed at a Cantonese audience, a few of whom I'm sure can relate to the film's events all too painfully. But by being so biased and generalized, we're making ourselves look no better than the Japanese invaders.

This is the kind of "we're saints and you're scum" attitude that started the JPN invasion in the first place!

  • @ScientificNoodles I love the fighting/action and general story of IP man. I like how he's so humble and all.

But you're right - this is no different from how the Japanese invaders would think. This movie is borderline racist, and we're both Chinese, so that's saying something.

There has to be at least one Japanese whistleblower or something. This movie is just pure Chinese propaganda :/

  • @AWDracer I wouldn't say it's pure propaganda, although it's very close to it.

But according to Wikipedia, this film was well received virtually everywhere in Asia, even in Japan, but you know Wikipedia... >.>

But then again, judging only from what little experience I've had w/ the JPN, they don't seem to know too much about Chinese history, culture, or etiquette to begin with (which is totally understandable), so this would have been a "Transformers" type of film to them.

  • @ScientificNoodles The first movie doesn't really deal with Japan at all, if I'm not mistakened. This one just had Twister/Sammo Hung.

The second one is the one with the Japanese Karate/General. I can't see the second being more well-received than the first one.

  • @AWDracer no it's actually the opposite, the first one is when japan took over fo shan and the 2nd one is when he goes to hong kong and the twister fight etc

  • @BardockSjj10 Ah... thanks for the clarification. My mistake.

  • This is one of the best martial arts movies I've seen in a long time, and believe me I've seen many.

    Shit I'm getting old

  • we see one second as one second, ip see one second as three seconds

  • spank that thug!

  • Edited? he did nothing except posting it on youtube....

  • Mf the thug reminds me of a hobo who has serious anger issues who takes steroids and owns at Kung Fu!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!!!

  • Wing chun owns

  • genialna walka !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He told him dad mother says if you keep fighting you'll destroy the house.

  • only ip man can make a man skrit look cool!

  • When you have a sword, and someone with a feather duster kicks your ass.... it is time to go home.... AND STUDY MORE KUNG FU! I never thought i'd like anyone as much as I like Tony Ja, but this movie kicks ass. Like the OP says, go buy this movie!!

  • That ass never paid

  • Gomey! Ouh^^

  • i hate those feather dusters the one ip man use to fight i use to get hit with that when i was a child by my mom. hurts bad.

  • @casterma I feel your pain. I used to get hit with those by my mom too as a kid. They stung and hurt soooo bad. Those things literally horrified me as a child.

  • The kid said " mommy said to stop fighting or else every thing will be broken "

  • @BardockSjj10 no you dumb shit, the kid said "Daddy, Mommy says if you don't fight for real soon, all of the furniture will be broken"

  • @Silverjda no need to call somebody a dumb shit... you could have simply corrected him...you dumb shit..

  • @xxwarkoala Oh I'm sure that burden is heavy for a white gentleman like you.

  • fighting style is wing chun

  • jakie chan is old

  • IP Man should be a holy wood celebrity like Jackie Chan!

  • Donnie Yen!

  • Wait he never paid for the stuff did he?

  • troll fail

  • ive forgotten what the kid says, is it "mother tells you to fight back so he stops breaking stuff"?

  • @jameslogan17 he says " father, mother says if you don't fight back everything in the house will be broken"

  • @Mcbravo thanks :D

  • 1:45 COME AT ME, BRO!!!

  • Ip Man is the reason that Chuck Norris still has nightmares at night.

  • @tshenvideos so that's why Chuck grew a beard and joined the witness protection program

  • I'll pay.

  • wow havent seen this much clarity on youtube for ages!

  • Imagine if this was in 3D!

  • @BrandonDerive1985 Jesus fucking christ that would be so awesome!

  • I can't unsee the Jedi robes....

  • is the guy Jin Shanzong a Mandarin speaker? cus i think its kinda weird that Yip Man is speaking Cantonese and they understand each other. idk im not chinese. someone explain to me lol

  • @23AZNAIRJORDAN23 Yeah, he's speaking Mandarin. I thought it was weird too.

  • @gimmeadollr

cantonese and mandarin speakers tend to understand each other a but, even if they can't speak the language. The languages are close enough to deduce the meaning.

  • best to know that he is bruce lees teacher so no wonder why bruce is good

  • rolls up his sleeves, shit goes down

  • @jameslogan17 Oh yeah! :-)

  • that kid be trolling

  • IP MAN IS THE BEST! THUMBS UP IF THINK THE SAME!

  • The most impressive thing about Donnie when he fights with this styles is how relaxed his upper body is. Very calm, cool and confident

  • Pff, I could do all this, I just choose not to.

  • the thug's fighting style is northern tiger style kung fu

    your welcome

  • @theSPREDATOR It's "you're" welcome.

    You're welcome.

  • @IShadowDemonI

actually, you're welcome is a shortened 'you are' welcome...

    you are welcome

  • @theSPREDATOR And your point is what exactly?

  • @IShadowDemonI i wanted to ask you the same thing

  • @theSPREDATOR You wanted to? So you don't now?

  • @IShadowDemonI no, because I know what your point was now, to spark trivial arguments and debate. Try elsewhere, because I am not in a debating mood.

  • @theSPREDATOR How was I sparking a debate? There is no debating that it's "you're".

  • ip man does wing chun , how bout the thug ?

    what he's doing ?

is it battle fighting style or what ?

  • does the thug look like ken watanabe to any of you? i know its not actually him but this actor reminds me of him

  • @anessone he looks like the asian version of karl urban

  • you thug sir has just done goof'd shit up breaking Mr. Ip's furniture that is why he rolled his sleeves.

  • After 1:18

    Thug:Punk ass Kid

IpMan:Becareful with your mouth , *Rolls up his Sleeves Shits Gets real.

  • little boy rides up on a pony bike.

  • the guy is not a thug, he challenged ip man for a dual, that's all.

  • Lmao he never paid!!

  • 12 people are the thugs =.=

  • Why couldn't they fight outside?

  • @Jackw00pw00p2 that's because Ip Man does not want to give the thug the pleasure of a public viewing of them fighting, which was what the tugs had wanted in the first place. Watch the movie, it will not dissapoint.

  • @whygothic Okay, cool.

  • id be really mad if someone came in my house fought me and broke my stuff

  • @lilganstaer Ip Man had the patience, but the wife not. It was her who sent the son on the tricycle to tell IM of her displeasure at stuffs being broken and whatnot.

  • @whygothic ohhh

  • I love how in 2:02 when he kicks him its in Slow Motion then he hits the Floor Fast! lol

  • first he test them to see how strong they are, then he attacks... you have to be REALLY good to do that... you take the risk of getting your ass kicked in a few seconds...

  • 3:18 guy on far left i think he was the guy in beanie of part 2

  • U are a cloud joshgunner99, u r a cloud !

  • fktheworld

  • why do they always make it so dusty in martial arts fights. Every time someone gets hit, you see a cloud of dust.

  • @joshgunner99 cuas the dude is poor think about it ur poor nd its dusty outisde

  • ...I'll pay!

  • 10 ppl would probably do 1:16 in a fight.

  • What's the fighting style of the thug? I want to know

  • If anyone's wondering, the kid at around 1:13 says "Mommy says if you don't throw a punch soon daddy, he'll wreck the whole house" or words to that effect

  • 1:55 Happy Feet :P Haha

  • rewelacja!!!!!!!

  • of course the mentor has to be equally or if not more badass than the disciple

  • OMG.NICE n_n

  • Bamboo > steel.. so next time u get into a sword fight, pick up a stick :D

  • nowadays even if you have talent like this, a sniper can just end your life...

  • 10 black belts disliked this video

  • Arnis application

  • 2:04 Priceless!

  • only ip man culd beat a sword with a feather duster if you look close he was advertising its a swiffer!!

  • the dance at 1:53 awesome!

  • whoever disliked this should fight with IP man to death!

  • whats that kick called in wing tsun what he makes at after 2.00

  • @h3nr1m In the traditional forms of Wing Chun, it is generally unacceptable to kick above the waist. It would be just a normal high front kick. In Master Ip's style, however, there are exceptions.

  • 3:34 FATALITY XD

  • smash (evil glare ) wu pay .. how money u stupid cunt

  • I love this movie. Helps when you can understand Cantonese and Mandarin too.

  • wow cool abz

  • innocent little child chiming in ftw ^_^

  • i sht my self laughing when he smacked his azz and the guy felt it ahaha!

  • lol no fataility

  • lol 2:24 sowrd fail

  • i wish i had ip man's skills :)

  • When Ip man rolls up his sleeves shit's about to get real.

When I roll up my sleeves, it's because I'm about to eat . .

  • @skarrface91 Regardless, shit is still getting real. Real on that plate!

  • huahauha, massa demais!

  • This guy has great martial art skills but my .357 magnum has sort of the same effect

  • @alonesometoaster1 I agree, on the outside yes. However a gun, no matter how large or powerful, does nothing to better the person internally. That is a benefit far greater than the minor protection from your so called .357 magnum you own.

  • @alonesometoaster1 Your point being? He can get the same gun, and he'd still be in a better postion.

  • 9 dislikes. More like 9 ppl who don't know how to fight.

  • @EvilMeetsChaos Haha i know right who would dislike this video!

  • @EvilMeetsChaos its 12 now

  • Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, whom he fights in this scene is also a wonderful martial artist and he is a delight to see in action. Its a shame people dont recognize his skills, as they are immense. He deserves massive respect for taking it up against wing chun

  • Never mess with a Wing Chun master and his feather duster...

  • " Dad, mom says if u don't fight back,he will break everything inside the house"

    hahahahaha

    that was the best

  • beaten by feather duster made from bamboo is painful then get wounded by a sword.

  • I like how none of the thug's punches are even in reaching distance hahaha

I wish real fighting looked more like this, i'd be rolling in my own SWPPLOOAAHH

  • Do they have English version or English subtitles ?

  • Back in the old days, we didn't have all this special effects shit. I wish movies were like this... :[ (PS IM NOT FUCKING OLD)

  • wen ip man rolls up his sleeves that means ur fucked!!! ip man the BEST!!

  • U surprised wen things get broken in the house?? Have the fuckin fight outside

  • @dimecity317 Well, the thug was paying for everything that broke.

  • @ RoboKid309....Ip Man would rape Ong Bak and his little elbows!

  • HD!!!!!!

  • When you can beat the shit out of a sword wielding martial arts master with a FEATHER DUSTER...

  • seppppp

  • 2.56- bad boy.

  • who would win? ip man or ong bak??

  • @Robokid309 hard to say tony jaa turned into a monk

  • Is IP man beating the shit out of that guy with a feather duster?!

  • @Iceman154435 sure is

  • @Iceman154435 Ip man is beating the shit out of that guy with a feather duster.
