  • Yea, the pilots didnt really land the plane. They were probably flying IFR, and landing with the ILS. Simply meaning the plane basically lands itself and all the pilots do is control flaps. ILS is, again, simple. Get the runway FREQ and put the freq into the NAV1 or NAV2 box. Then when cleared for landing turn on APP and switch the FREQ to active. Now u simply sit back and relax.

  • @woarboar I dont know if you noticed, but the gpws calls the 500 ft and the runway was not in sight... it calls the 300 ft and the head of the runway starts to appear, but just a little bit... so he must have had an RVR of 300 ft, so that clearly makes it a CAT II landing

  • Instrument Landing System. That is a type of precision landing approach which includes both linear guidence (alligned with the runway) and vertical guidence (glide slope) so that the pilot can follow the instrumentation all the way down to the runway without visual reference.

  • seems to be a basic ILS approach to minumums, which in US is 200/1/2. The airplane was right at 200 when the approach environment became visible allowing the pilot to decend only another 100 ft without the runway itself being in sight. Just before 100 ft, you could clearly see the components defined as the end of the runway.

  • Aerobaby4u hasnt got a clue, firstly they are flying an Airbus that doesnt have a Yoke, it has a sidestick and RaduGe was correct in that the "Retard Retard" Aural alert is for the throttles to be brought to Idle prior to Touchdown.
