  • The Lung Punch is nothing more than a type of attack that gives the defender more time to think. It has nothing to do with Battle Senario or a Warrior Ego. Thats Bujinkan crap to make you feel like a true warrior. In reality it is done to give the beginner student time to think where he or she has to go without freekin out. It is supposed to change the further into and the better you get with your training. Unfortunatly most people forget that it is only a starting point.

    Vent Over...

  • @imfrozensolid This is well said and I fully aggree. Except wtih the Bujinkan crap statement. But I still feel you on this. These original wazas were taught when long range weapons were used on the battlefield. Too many Bujinkan practitioners get caught in this long range game and do not train with the realism of how the world fights. To be a true martial artist or warrior you must learn to defend yourself against all forms of attacks.

  • I understand where your coming from, but through training I have realized that these punches reflect a battle scenario. Shinobi were not offensive. Offensive techniques were powder/smoke, poison blowgun etc. Calculated techniques to guarantee success.

I am of coarse talking about a warrior with no ego. Long punches happen when someone is so committed to attacking you and you have no escape.

Awareness is key for detecting someone is vibrating weirdly, you can see it in their body language a

  • You know what really bothers me ?!?! That I became more aware of my surroundings....and found out, that most TMA do not train realistic scenarios,,,,NOBODY in the 21t century throws punches like those shown in this video,,,and some thousand others from others styles ! Even regular JOE in the streett throws punches from a Boxer stance ! Tradition is great, but keep it real...at least !
