if i capture a video from an HD tv will the quality be better? also how much physical memory does it take for this program?

Yes the quality will be better but you're going to need a more expensive capture card. and after effects needs 512mb of ram

it runs pretty fast and I have 512 mb of ram :) just turn off EVERY program that isnt crucial for either you to edit or your computer to work.
