  • i have the same one but im still trying to figure out if you can buy a fisheye for it so i can use in my bmx videos?

  • @ASJJProductions There are fish eyes available that can be attached like a filter. I haven't tried it before so I don't know which ones are good. There are companies other than Canon that make them. I don't know if Canon makes any fish eyes though.

  • i wish gas was still $3.19

  • @949rocco Me too. I think I remember when it was between 2 and 3 dollars.

  • As long as you can't notice it if you are not looking for it

  • would make sense. Just wanted to make sure. I have heard in the past about certain cameras making noise while zooming and the onboard mic picking it up. Thanks for the reply

  • @tas9195 This camcorder does do that and you can heard the zoom mechanism if you turn up the volume and listen carefully. But it's hard to notice if you're not looking for the sound.

  • what is all the clicking from, is it the camera or is it you making noise?

  • @tas9195 If you mean the tapping noise, I think that was me. I don't remember exactly what I did to cause it. My camcorder might have been hitting the window. I think I kind of remember that. I think I was trying to have the camcorder against the window for stability.

  • So I have this exact same HD video recorder, and the files are always shot in .mts files. and I would love to change the file to .mov or .avi or something more well known. I am also having trouble importing videos to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, as in terms of getting hd in the program, and matching the resolution. Any help would be VERY appreciated. Thank you!

  • @Bloodfury96 I haven't used that video editing program before. The only program I used with the MTS files is Pinnacle Studio 12 and I usually convert to an MPEG format with 1080 resolution. I wish I had more info that would help you.

  • @orangewitness Now when you say 1080 resolution, that means the quality right? Not like a computer screen is 1024x786 or whatever.

  • @Bloodfury96 1080 means the number of pixels from top to bottom. When a video is in 1080, it has 1920 pixels horizontal, left to right. Just like a computer screen's resolution, like the example you gave. It's one of the things that determines a video's quality. But a video could still be poorly made, pixelated, blurry, etc even if it's in 1920x1080 resolution.

  • @orangewitness Okay thank you.

  • ok cool, i was just wondering. But the s series is the one that has true 24p mode.

  • @Untouchable909090 Ya, the M series just simulates it with the regular frame rate. Last I remember, the S series has a true 24p framerate mode.

  • @orangewitness I forgot where I read it. Either CNET or another website that specializes in reviewing and comparing HD camcorders. I don't think it says that in Canon's website.

  • @orangewitness

PLEASE HELP!!! I have a cannon vixia m31, I'm having problems on shooting through my sd card. I don't want to shoot through the built in memory, I want 2 use MY SD CARD. I try 2 adjust the settings on memory info. U either use built in memory or sd card. I select sd and it doesn't work!

  • @biggestwwefanlogan With the camcorder turned on, press FUNC. on the screen. Then MENU. Press the middle tab with the film strip icon. Then go to "Rec Media for Movies." There will be two choices. A microchip icon for internal memory, and the SD logo for SD card. Just choose the SD logo for SD card.

Make sure your SD card is a class 10 card so that you can record in 17Mbps.

  • @orangewitness THANK U! Sorry i wuz spammin, i just needed an answer.

  • @biggestwwefanlogan That's okay

  • @biggestwwefanlogan Did that answer work on your camcorder?

  • @orangewitness

I dont have it right now but I've never tried that so I think your answer is correct. THANKS

  • @orangewitness

    Thank u sssssoooooooo much!

  • @M0zM0vies Yes, my camcorder is an M31. It was capturing video of the road through a window where I work.

  • 0:46 its so clear, i can see thats a mountain dew!

  • lol. Stalking people with the zoom. I love that.

  • Very good video, besides the FXP 17 Mbps setting, what are the other setting's modes?

  • @MrE2727 It has MXP - 24Mbps, FXP - 17Mbps, XP+ - 12Mbps, SP - 7Mbps, and LP - 5Mbps

  • how do you shoot in 1080 p

  • @EYEReive The camcorder always captures video in 1920 x 1080 resolution. I wish there was a 720p option for it for when I want to capture something that's not that important but more casual. For videos with a smaller file size and file loading times.

  • @orangewitness does this camcorder have 24p cinema mode on in. One site says the camcorder does, then on another site it never said if it had 24p cinema mode.

  • @Untouchable909090 It does but from what I understand it's not a true 24p mode. It stays the same regular frame rate and kinda simulates 24p. I think I read somewhere that some frames are repeated to simulate just one. The Vixia S series has a true 24p mode though, from what I remember.

  • Great detail. Look at the full screen version. At 0:41 a mouse or rat or something runs across the right lane near the bottom of the screen and then runs back.

I have the same camera and I love it!

  • @northernbushcraft OMG I never noticed that. I wonder if that's a lizard or something. I rarely see mice running around outside in the day time.

  • Just bought this camera, looking for a fish eye lens. I'm having a hard time finding one that fits it. any suggestions?

  • @CalibriaCapo I haven't used a fish eye lens before. If there's a Ritz camera store nearby, they might have something. That's where I got my UV filter.

  • Love it. I just bought the M31 yesterday. Going to open it up today and see if I can get some nice footage.

Any advice for setting it up for a total rookie? Thanks for putting this up. Amazing..

    peace,

    Tim

  • @chessdude67 Oh hey, hows it going!

If you haven't gotten a UV filter to put over the lens yet, just be careful so nothing hits the lens. Be sure you're not in an area with ocean water spray or rain or dust or anything like that until you get the filter. That's my main reason for the 10 dollar filter, to protect the lens of the camcorder.

You'll probably have to charge up the battery fully before using it. Then I'd say turn it on and have fun with it!

  • @orangewitness Thanks for getting back to me. Best Buy does not have them for the camcorders. I do want to take care of the lens.

I will check on line. Looking forward to using it.

    Cool advice.

    Thanks again!

    peace,

    Tim

  • @chessdude67 Also if you get a battery pack that has a longer charge than the one that comes with the camcorder, make sure it's a good one. I ordered the largest one from amazon.com, the BP-827 one. When it's fully charged and the camcorder is off, you can see how much minutes it says the battery will have by pressing the DISP. button.

  • @orangewitness I got one and every time I used and charged it, the minutes total would be less by a minute or two. So it appears I got a bad battery. A battery shouldn't do that until it's been used so many times that it's just worn out.

Changing the settings like record mode and other things will affect the total minutes read out. But I had mine the same all the time.

I sent it back to amazon for an exchange and got another. This one is good. The full charge minute count is always the same.
