  • i had never paid attention to this songs lyrics. my mind is in such an emotional high right now!

  • I think one day when I'm hurting very badly, I'll come back to this song

  • Any tutorial for this songs are always so different then the way he plays it.

  • after or before where the light is?

  • @edguilherme2 about 2 months before this, where the light is was recorded on 8th December 2008

  • 2 people tried to stop the train but they got run over by it instead. In other news, that was a very good whistling solo

  • 2 people likes Justin Bieber

  • @Dennis6744 i actually think he uses only his thumb and his index, at least i prefer it that way and he kind of uses the same technique in neon. and yes it's a "slap-rake" thingy he does but you don't have to use your middle for that either. you slap the bass note with your thumb and in the same move you do a downward stroke on the g/b string (both?)whichever sounds better. remember guys that it's john mayer we're talking about. there are 101 ways to play any of his songs. that's why he'ssogreat

  • @jakesishful You can kind of do it anyway you want, his way is kind of odd. I use every finger but my pinky so I can do chordal hits on the top two strings in addiction to the rake/hit.

  • genio

  • He only uses his index and thumb or also his middle?

  • @psvth3b3st Just the index and thumb.

  • @ztbsk8er Thank you, I also play it with my index and thumb, but some tutorials explain you also need to use your middle.

  • @psvth3b3st It's index, middle and thumb. You use your middle to pluck the b-string, while you use your index to do that downward rake thing.

  • Where and when was this? Thank you in advance.

  • @GrootveldMusic this was in 2007 i think at austin city limits.

  • @quackomookie .Nokia theater.

  • Austin City Limits 2007

  • Whats up w/ the carpet? its the same from "where the light is"... Is it his 'Lucky rug' or something?

  • I'm guessing the carpet is there to eliminate any slippage of his equipment.

  • @Turkmadden The rug is used to make the stage feel a little more home-like. He has always used it. Even in his "Any Given Thursday" DVD

  • are u silly look @ the date

  • this whole concert seems like a test concert for where the light is

  • By far my favorite version of Stop This Train

  • I don't know what he did or who told him to do it, but this gig was the first one for me where he apparently had 'seen the light' on his singing. Incredible, totally in control and clean as a whistle.

  • 4:15

  • and i prefer the "once in a while" part in the where the light is version to this.

  • prefer his whistling in this version to where the light is personally

  • I think if i had to pick, this would be the most perfect performance of this song, I mean he has plenty of other good ones but for this one its like that day he had been thinking about everything he's singing about

  • one of john's most beautiful songs, both melodically and lyrically.

  • i would do anything to see john mayer live!

  • @yannis5 Does that include buying a ticket?

  • @Edrooney12 yes it does! when i wrote that comment he wasnt touring in the UK...

  • @yannis5 man he is coming sep. 8 to atlanta at aaron's ampitheater, i am going!

  • i like how quiet it got as soon as he started playing. amazing song to.

  • When was this recorded?

  • Since he release the where the light is album, his vocal ability were outstanding!! flawless.. now he is a full package recording artist..

  • Yeah his vocal ability has really improved lately, better control, more resonance etc. Hes the man!

  • Wow, I like this version more than the one on WTLI. Not many views though!

  • so amazing! 5/5

im the biggest mayer fan ever
