I seriously hated this song when I first heard it. I heard it on LOGO and on VH1 and it seemed to be played all the damn time! I really enjoy it now after becoming a Rufus fan and knowing the rest of his music.
This is an extremely beautiful song. It touches your heart. that's the kind of music that I love the most, something that gets down into you heart and soul. He's a unique singer, truely an original. Best of Luck Rufus
I personally love all his music. I am not gay and that doesn't make me so. if you find offense then don't watch/listen/post rude comments. Thanks on behalf of all fans/music lovers.
Absolutely Nothing- Its about you and how the music speaks to you. Don't let other peoples prejudice fence you in, Be yourself -we only go around once.

You know, I have seen you around youtube before, and I've even talked to you before. I just find it funny that most of the comments I see you in, are for Rufus Wainwright videos. Now come on, there's either two things that could be, you could just be publicly stating your opinion, or, you could be a closet Rufus fan. Neither would surprise me. as a gay man, i appreciate your comment.. I'd find it hard to be straight and pro-gay as tbh, it would be nothing to do with me.. Indifference is better than ignorance in my opinion
Rufus Wainright has something, a scratch in history, that mark's a generation. his words, in Maker Makes, difines what it is to be human. ( or at least for most of us ) Thank You R.W
Rufus is a great singer and piano player. This songs nearly makes me cry every time. The movie was very sad. I can only imagine the torment and anguish and prejudice that gay people must endure.
The film broke my heart--have never been able to watch it a second time. The song broke my heart and at that point I didn't even know there was a Rufus Wainwright. Now I have the great pleasure of knowing Rufus' music and having my heart broken by it oh two, three, four times a day. And night. I consider this real progress.
When I first listened to this song I thought I was listening to Radiohead because Rufus totally sounds like Thom Yorke in this song and the music could pass for Radiohead's (b/c of the piano. Not the chord progression necessarily.)
I can't watch Brokeback Mountain without crying cuz of this song. It's so beautiful and it makes me think of poor Heath and all those who are grieving for him. It's too sad...
just watched brokeback mountain for the first time and been a huge fan of rufus for a while and think this film and this song work fantasticaly together, amazing
Y\We need to realize homosexuality and bisexuality has been around since the days of Alexander. My love goes as deep for Larry as it does for my wife. I need him and he needs me, yet we are in the position we remain married, for reasons society demands, at least where we live. Are we hurting our wives(?) perhaps, but neither of us regret our devotion to one another. Yes love is real! Fags? Not really, lovers, yes!
the haunting beauty Rufus has captured for us to live in this song/vid story is produced by old souls. There's no doubt he has lived many lives.Thank You.............
Each and every time I listen to this song and watch the video reminds me of the past 35 years hiding our secret from our wives, and loving each other unconditionally albeit in secret. Unfortunately, I'm sad more often than happy because we are seperated because of our military job assignments. A tremendously moving and beautiful tribute, Thanks Rufus
I know. It occurs to me watching this film that it's happened countless times throughout history, to countless wives; even those societies which have been tolerant of homosexuals have usually demanded they intergrate in to the accepted way of things by getting married etc.
Kelberoth, I'm sure you would not turn down a "fag" if the opportunity presented itself. Don't be such a hater. And besides, YOU could be... Never mind. You're probably just an insecure little pencil pecker of a boy. So shut up already. Just enjoy the song and move along little doggie....
my entire life mimics this movie and the words to this song. 67, yes 67. Silent and secretive. My "brokeback Mountain" ended it last year after 12 1/2 years. I still cry to this day, and wish my smile would be happy, not sad.
God bless you. I'm 67 too. You won't believe it can be possible right now but, it's true, you will smile again. It will take time, and healing, but you will. Mark my words.
A perfect song, beautifully sung. Look for 'Rufus Wainwright - The Maker Makes - France Inter 2007'. Search 'The Maker Makes'. I like it because the vocalism is more open and because it was recorded this year and shows that he can still do the performance with the same passion. This song gives me the same feeling of universality that Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind" gave me long before it was a hit. Rufus has established the pattern. Many more good singers are sure to want to sing it.
Yes. 67. Didn't immediately hear "Maker" even though I had purchased the CD just to get Willie's song. Was amazed when I first heard "Maker" over the movie end credits. Really like good singing. Rufus is a keeper. Like that clip of him singing with his mother, 'the good son'. Will always do the job. The cool thing about music is that the magic isn't age conscious. Jerry Lee is a wreak in his early 70's and just beginning to sound good.
I didnt like this song when I first heard it on LOGO,it for me is one of those Rufus song you have to hear at least a few times before you really find it catchy.<33 I love Rufus,he's so clever.
No matter how many times I listen to this song I am moved to the very depths. The emotion Rufus Wainwright always brings forth through his voice and that smooth smooth vibrato is nothing but miraculous! This song and the way it's delivered definitely exudes the sadness of two people who love one another yet can't be together. Very moving. And yes, I'd agree that Rufus Wainwright as the face of an angel.
Well if you can walk in his shoes ...and suffer his pain ..and understand ..you have no right to judge him. Tell us your past so we can judge you like you would judge someone who suffered pain in their past. He is a great singer ;)
Hateful people love spamming Wainwright's videos on here don't they? Its really annoying me because some of them claim to be Christians yet they say stuff like "JESUS HATES YOU" which is like, the biggest load of crap ive ever heard in my life. so seriously, if anybody is thinking of having a war about that, don't even bother...and no im not gay but if I was, i would sleep at night knowing God loves me :]
Because they don't like gay guys! I'm kidding. benjamin72hollow is the biggest gay i know so... no but seriously, i didn't know about Rufus' past until reading the wikepidia thingy about him. it sucks what happened to him. this song is really amazing.
fuck you faggot, just because grandpa doesnt look at you the same any more since he saw your uncles cock in your ass!!! doesnt mean you have to bring me down to your level, your like those niggers who hate their own race on the tyra banks show.

I'm the biggest Rufus fan. I'm a straight woman... It wasn't nominated cuz the Oscar panel consists of stodgy old white homophobes. Its an amazing movie/song.
wooow, I've never seen this, I always thought they should make a music video for this song but I didn't know there was already one! well, I didn't like this movie, but Rufus is so amazing I even bought the soundtrack :) I love this song so much.
I can only listen to this song once in a while; it is so beautiful and so tragic...this cut with the overlay of Jack and Ennis is just great. Seeing this movie changed my life in so many ways. Rufus is a star and has a long career ahead of him. His own story is fascinating and he has known pain himself. He is gay and has had to deal with drug abuse. He is a gift and comes from a family of gifted musicians.
This video makes me cry every time I see it. I noticed [in the top right-hand corner] that this also came from Logo... I love that channel. It's more real than any others.
Of course, it's a great movie...Ang Lee and the cast did a fantastic work....then again....seeing that I am downloading all Ravenus's videos and keep asking for more, is a dead give away that I am 100% crazy about this movie!!!
This is one song that can make me cry, no matter what. One of the most beautiful songs ever. Love it and I have never seen this video before. Thank you!!

wooow, I've never seen this, I always thought they should make a music video for this song but I didn't know there was already one! well, I didn't like this movie, but Rufus is so amazing I even bought the soundtrack :) I love this song so much.

I haven't seen this movie yet. I couldn't bare another sad ending. Tell me: should I see it?

Of course, it's a great movie...Ang Lee and the cast did a fantastic work....then again....seeing that I am downloading all Ravenus's videos and keep asking for more, is a dead give away that I am 100% crazy about this movie!!!
