just wondering, while having that pressure rod lock, that means the gas can only escape for a longer time only through the end of the barrel, does this in the end make this weapon a bit more powerful ?
I am sad that no one seems to have a good understanding of how these guns actually work. The piston does not and cannot actually LOCK the slide closed. Rather, gas pressure is pushing rearward on the shell casing and forward on the piston at the same time. The piston is smaller in diameter than the shell casing, so more rearward force is applied to the slide than forward force. The slide starts to move the moment the cartridge is ignited, but opposing force from the piston slows it way down.
I always wondered if the piston on the P7M8 really does retard the movement of the slide enough for the bullet to exit the barrel before the slide starts to recoil.
naw, unfortunately I used to own this pistol but don't any more. The M10 has a taller and thicker slide to help compensate for the increased recoil of the 40 S&W.
It's not a PSP.

until the gas pressure is reduced substantially, the piston acts as a lock on the P7 series pistols
kinda different than other gas operated firearms... where the gas pressure is what unlocks their bolts
