  • i love the music and the tour ty..

  • damn is it a must to pass in chinese? its my main difficulties.

  • Thanks for the mini-tour!

I'm currently applying for an exchange semester there.

Just wondering what kind of difficulties I should be prepared for as someone who only speaks english?

  • @TheShortStory English is the 2nd official language of Hong Kong. So you should have no troubles :)

  • oh yeah and how much was the university tuition?

  • @SweetlySammie This will depend on if you are planning to attend as an exchange student or as a regular student. If you're an exchange student like I was than seek out your schools exchange program. If you're applying to HKU normally than ask admissions.

  • I want to be an exchange student to HKU as well! what are the general requirements?!

  • Hey friends, I need to know this really urgently. what is the top few best courses and faculty? And do i require SAT? thank u v m!!!

  • @fonggiebonggiewa It depends what your concentration is. I went as an exchange student from my American university so I didn't need to take the SAT again, but if you're asking about going to HKU for your entire university career you better check with their admissions.

  • haha you is that an american accent?

are there a lot or british students there?

  • @ShaltNot07 Yes, I'm American. There are many exchange students from all over the world.

  • This is my dream University, haha. :3 I'm planning to attend instead of going to a Uni' here in England. :)

  • @Majaaarrr Good luck to you! If you don't make admissions it might be easier if you start out at a local English uni then either transfer to HKU or enter an exchange programme like I did.

  • @ekho84 Awh, thank you! That's really helpful. :)

  • hku is one of the top universities in the world. was it hard getting in? and what is the chance of getting a scholarship if i do get admitted?

  • @mathnerd101 I went as an exchange student so I'm not familiar with the general admission process. I assume it's very similar to other globally accredited uni's and probably very similar to British standards.

  • oh i still remember the students' union canteen, i was there last year for HKU taster days

  • can i know who in here are malaysia and study in Hong Kong? i need your e-mail because i has a question to ask..

  • hey, I'm planning to enter the faculty of business and economics in HKU, could you tell me whether finding a part-time job in HK will be hard if we can't speak Cantonese? This will affect my choice of going to HKU or not. And is SAT needed to go to the faculty of business and economics when I am already taking IB?

  • @gtrshreder i they require you to submit your SAT scores...i think they said that on the site

  • @mathnerd101 I'm not sure about that check with the Uni. I went in as an exchange student.

  • @gtrshreder Check with HKU admissions, if you're going as an exchange student like me then start with your own school's study abroad dept. As for PT jobs, language won't be an issue it'll be getting proper documentation/visas. If you're not from HK you'll need a student visa to attend HKU, I don't think they allow student visas with work visas. Well, maybe you can find a PT job that pays under the table.

  • excuse me, may i ask what is the BG music you use in this video clip? I sounds just perfect!

  • thanks for doing this! sigh. university.

  • Hi, I'm a high school student. I'm still browsing on colleges. I was wondering how is HKU like? Are the classes alright? Can I study there even if I'm a Hong Kong resident? I'm not too sure about HKU yet, because I'm not familiar with the city at all.

  • Ive lived abroad for many years (away from Hk) and I was wondering how well my chinese has to be. From the lack of use, my cantonese and mando has really deteriorated.

    Are the dorms expensive?

  • Can you just stay there and not leave? How expensive is it?

  • if you don't mind me asking, how much did the 6 months cost you in total, w/ flights etc.? I only ask because I'm looking to apply to HKU next year.

  • thank you for taking and sharing this.

    : ]

  • HKU, hell yea, see in September :P

  • That is amazing. I hope I can go there next year!

  • There was definitely room for improvement, I mean, the video camera.

  • I wanna go there so much after high school!

  • Thank you for sharing this it's great!

  • Awesome English for a chinese guy

  • any tips or advice? im going to study abroad there next semester.

  • great video!! it covered all the best part around campus.

were u an exchange student from US?

  • whats the main language its sound stupid but i am going to be spending the best part of 3 to 4 months learning mandarin. i ask because china is becoming more western so i thought they might teach english

  • BRo Im from Hong KOng moved to canada at 2 How are the chix man dorms coed they as wild as they are here in canada ? or seperate gender dorms O ya my canto sucks they speak english teach in english >

  • Ahhhhhh that uni is sooo coooool, i really want to go there! My dads friend is a chemistry profesor there aswell, its such a BIG opportunity as i have 1 extra year of year 13...Oh ya btw what campus is that ?

  • i heard HKU is shit hard to get in if you're from China because their English is not up to the standards

  • Hye man great vid! Hopefully I'll be spending my 3rd year over with you guys during my Civil Engineering Masters! Look forward to coming to the grand city :D

    Peace x

  • amazing

  • how much is tuition at HKU? is it expensive?

  • Hi! Thank you for your video; it really showed me the campus :) I have a few questions, thought, and I hope you can try to answer them for me:

    1. What's the academic atmosphere? I heard once Chinese kids get into college, they become more relaxed.

    2. What's the student population like? Ethnicity percentage, etc.

    Thank you!

By the way, I was born in China, but came to the US when I was 9. I will be attending one of the top UCs this fall :)

  • Are you a study abroad student? Seems very nice... Are you from the States? Cool video.

I want to do study abroad at HKU T_T

  • Bro,seriously? that really sucks, since I can not speak any Cantonese. Anyway, I probably only stay there for 2years and go to USA. Hopefully, things will be not that bad....keep my fingers crossed.

  • I will enroll at HKU in Sept. Hopefully, I could have a good time there. I can not even understand a single Cantonese, even I am Chinese. But I think English is ok, i can communicate with people in English.

  • be careful there bro,i heard they are racist towards mainland chinese

  • hey =]

i'm planning to do a student exchange program at HKU probably in 2-3 years later. does everyone speak english there? instead of a 6 months program, is it possible that there's a 3 months program there?

sorry, i asked too much question. thanks for reading? hehe :]

  • Yes, Hong Kong has two official languages, Cantonese and English. HKU is taught only in English unless the entire class is local students. Hong Kong is a very international city, there are many people from all over the world and they all use English to communicate. All street signs are also in English.

I don't think there is a 3 month program, but trust me, you'll want to stay longer even if you do a 6 month :)

  • haha... i also want to do a 6 month program there, but i'm not sure if my my parents will let me. haha... being the only child really sucks.

thanks for the info.! by the way, ur vid. on this trip is really inspring! haha... :)

  • the whole of hong kong had been converted into a concrete jungle with building reaching the sky. Historically and tropical paradise all decimated for finance and commerce incredible.

  • excuse me, may i ask what is the BG music you use in this video clip? I sounds just perfect!

  • @sean861031 "All American Rejects - Move Along"

  • seriously awesome video! I applied to this school and I have no idea what it's actually like! Thanks for the glimpse!
