Mixing with the new SONAR 6 Console

I've switched over from using Logic on a Mac, and I now use Sonar. Mixing a track is much easier in Sonar, I actually prefer some of the VST's included with Sonar over those in Logic.

@Danny880044 I did the same, and whats better about Sonar is you can update for the new sonar program for 1/3 the price if you have the lower version. Do you use a PC?

I know dude, I bought the update from Sonar 7 to the latest version, and I couldn't be happier. I use a PC, I put it together at a 1/3 of the price I would have had to pay if I wanted a Mac with similar spec. How about you dude?

I just loaded it on my new vista system and it seems to work well so far. make sure you have beefy processors (dual) and a heavy duty sound card.

A very late reply, but if you haven't brought sonar yet. yeah, i work on vista just fine and my system is many about 2 to 3 years old and not all that advance. Brought it when Vista barely came out.

If I was a person that was just learning how to use cakewalk you are of no help. Reason I say this is because you are naming all these parts of the program which we have no idea what the hell you're talking about. You say it's easy but that's easy for someone who knows what he's doing. You got to have some sense of explanation becuase right now you're doing none of that.

If I was a person just learning how to use cakewalk I would read the manual or at least have a basic understanding of audio technology before using advanced recording softtware so if I see a video tutorial I at least know what they are talking about.

Hello, I'm getting some errors when I open Sonar 6 that I have no midi output...I set the output on microsoft GW synth....but still it doesn't work...I don't know what's wrong? can anybody help? I can send you the error screen shots.

yo how do u mix 2 tracks into 1 sayin i imported a beat and i played it and hit record and recorded a song like that but when i look for it in my documents and play it it only plays he vocals part and i wanna blend it into one cuz on sonar le it plays as one file but like i said when i look into my documents it only plays the vocals help me

You can use its built in EQ to remove Noise, but you may find that you will want a dedicated Noise reduction plug-in

How do i get unwanted feedback? I am using a Line 6 Toneport UX2 external hardware with Gearbox software that has a noise gate that is perfect. Everytime I try to record in Sonar I get massive extra sound and my noise gate seems to be overwrited. Any tips? Would the Sonar compressor help? Thanks

Are you recording with a mic or are you recording a direct input? Also what instrument are you recording.

I am using a direct input, Line 6 Toneport UX2 and I am recording electric guitar. I don't get feedback because of my noisegate selection, however when I have Sonar 6 Producer open I get feedback. When I try to deaden the strings especially.

Well if input monitoring is enabled on a track in SONAR when you point your guitar pick ups towards the speakers feedback will happen, just like with a guitar amp.

Yea but I have a noise gate that eliminates all feedback. I've been recording and my settings got all messed up and my guitar recording sounds horrible. Is there a way to do a complete wash of all of my custom settings and start fresh with the factory defaults? I've tried reinstalling it several times and it seems like it's chronically messed up! Please help! should i call cakwalk support?

You can just do a fresh install and the original setting will be restored. But you might also want to call support to see if you can avoid a resinstall.

djersoy, when you open Sonar 6 click "views" in the menu and make sure "show toolbars" is checked. Then you will see an icon on the toobar that looks like three sliders on a mixing console. Click that and it will open the mixing console in Sonar. Midi volume is usually turned up or down by a control number of 1 to 127 in the midi settings.

i always hide the way i mixed and mastered the song,if the band will get their data and load it in their pc they'll gonna see and know how you mixed their songs...

I have sonar 6 and reason 3, I was planning on using them both together but have no idea how to work sonar even after reading the manual. I learned Reason in about a week it's so easy to learn the work flow is great and the rack is awesome I wish sonar was a little more organized over time I should get it down but it takes some time.

Yes you could mix through the console in real-time, but you would want to make sure that you have a powerful PC and a high quality audio interface with good drivers so that the audio latency would be negligible
