  • What month was this?

  • Would be truly cool if the people would just shut up....

  • I hear popcorn.

  • What an incredible moment caught on camera!

  • thumbs up if this made you want to go pee

  • "Hows the weather Ollie?...."FLOOD!"

  • "Flashly Floodly, intrepid correspondent, here, reporting on the Big Wash!"

  • Yowsa! That's a lot of water!!

  • Thats some cool footage

  • that is amazing scary and beautiful at the same time

  • This shits on Niagra. Cool footage.

  • amazing...not many people get to see that!!

  • those were powerful enough to form the Grand Canyon, they surely are powerful enough to kill all of you...

  • @hieuphan88

    ...nope...

  • amazing!

  • First hand look at what created the natural wonder.

  • yeah ...... THERE WAS A HOUSE ON FIRE UP - MOUNTAIN . . . . . WATER'S COMING FROM FIRE DEPT EXTINGUISHING THE BLAZE

  • Ok who brought a raft?

  • Cheered for their own grave

  • GET OUT!

  • Good video but fucking annoying yanks have to ruin it with the same old " whooooooooo" or "oh my god" commentary that seems to be in every American filmed video.

  • @eaton84

ok. what do you foreigners do? just stand there completely silent with blank faces?

  • @thedick4x4

No we just let the natural wonder speak for itself. lol

  • there is all your rain for the year

  • Incredible footage...among the whoopers.

  • Oh, we'll be okay. It's just rain. (famous last words)

  • I was there is 2003 and one of the locals told me that 3 girls from N.J. were stuck in the canyon because they didn't believe that the flash floods happen within minutes.

  • wow! If you had stay near the river you're swept away, if you stray too close to the canyon walls, a house sized boulder may crash you. Dangerous!

  • wether in moab well its unpridictable

  • these ppl need to watch man vs. wild and run like a motherfucker!

  • let's go rafting you guys!

  • haha, you people crack me up. where exactly are they supposed to run? im sure it took them over 2 hours to hike into the canyon that deep and the trail they were on was probably a water fall as well. not to mention the falling rocks that bounce down the sides of the cliff during these storms. you people have obviously never been to the grand canyon. they were trapped, and very lucky to have not been swept away by a wall of water.

  • let's see...we're in the bottom of a huge canyon, in the rain, surrounded by 100 raging waterfalls. I KNOW! let's stay at the lowest point possible and film it! charles darwin called this lack of survival mechanisms "thinning of the herd."

  • @milkmandan77 This would be called lack of obvious observation and common sense skills on your part, a combination that can be lethal in at least one but not limited to: Driving, Walking, Bicycling, Climbing/Descending stairs, Observing a canyon, cooking, cleaning a common surface using bleach and ammonia, maintaining a fire, observing wildlife, standing under lone trees in a thunder storm, being around water any deeper than 7 feet, tainting the earth by way of reproduction, etc.....

  • Despite the amount of runoff coming into the canyon, the Colorado River carries such a volume of water that these waterfalls in comparison are minuscule. Also falling water disperses when faced with friction from the density of air making them seem more ample than they are. The river's height would only rise a couple of centimeters an hour TOPS, making it a narrow escape, yes, so difficult to gain centimeters of altitude an hour. To post this video they'd have to survive, obviously. (cont)

  • I dont know if you guys know this but, The grand Canyon used to be filled with water, and when it rains there, umm. Yeah, it fills up a little bit.

  • well this brings a new meaning to the word idiots , just stand there and get washed away why dont ya......

  • Really, a "smart" place to be when thunderstorms are forecast, at the bottom of a canyon during flash flood season.

  • Holy crap.

  • @almooooqn3 Hello, Mr. Asshole, your comments do not belong here. But thanks anyway.

  • @streetcornerjames thanks...4 being polite

  • That was beautiful...

  • the grand canyon is a very big spot that has horrible flash floods that hit in no time. Thats becuase its slanted along to the canyon, and theres GIGANTIC waterfalls that form and BAM!

  • Once in a life time ......Very cool.

  • This is juuust about when you start to run for your life

  • these people are really stupid, flash floods in the grand canyon are extremely dangerous.

  • Glad to see this event was caught on video,...thanks. These massive pour-offs are hard to believe until you see them, and thery are not seen often. The raw sense of power is clearly being felt by these river trippers. Wow! Great video.

  • incredible

  • Always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, looks like fun!

  • Who's making the popcorn?

  • bacana, o guarda chuva vai mantê-los secos.

  • lets wait 30 minits more and than go raft !

  • amazing how something could be just a rock one day and then a waterfall the next

  • @KrispMan213 its clay and rock it just wash's off of it

  • on these white water rafting trips at the grand canyon, how does the people take a shit?

  • bigdogITbiker

    LMAO!!!

  • no, seriously, where, or how do they do it?! 'cause I dont see any portapotties around whenever people put the videos up on the net; and I ask because I am thinking about going on one of those fun and exciting rafting trips in the grand canyon.

  • Oh, hmm. maybe they just make sure they dont haveto take a shit before they go..

  • @bigdogITbiker they use what's called the "groover", a large ammunition can with a plastic bag in it and a toilet seat on top.

  • You shit in a bucket and when it's 'filled up' (about a 1/3) you seal it up and pack it out. You can get a big fine for taking a shit on a beach on most whitewater shores.

  • great video

check my channel to see more disasters and wonders of mother nature

  • i know it is a very dangerous situation in the vid.

but fuck me, that was one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. at .40 it looks amazing.

please excuse me if i gone all mushy lol

  • The power of water is just amazing, nature is something to behold. If I was there, I might just let out a hoot myself!

  • Two interesting things in this video! 1. The on going creation of the Grand Canyon, and 2. The way people die in the Canyon every year! Flash floods.... camping in dry creek beds on starry nights, and getting washed away!

  • amazing nature

  • are there stuck there????

  • Why do people hoot and holler like wolves. What is hooting supposed to achieve? It sounds ridiculous. Pretty soon the sun will come out and then what....... more hooting and hollering?

  • their american, what do you expect

  • @xxxDEATHCORExxx being from the usa somehow has something to do with making noise when excited?

next sport you watch, take note of the EXCITED and LOUD audience watching.

how about a concert? just because you can't be excited about nature at work doesn't mean others won't.

and by the way, you should practice the proper use of "their" "they're" and "there"

  • yes sir captain faggot

  • lol

  • thank you--better to spend that energy finding a way to get out of there

  • That ain't no landslide mate thats a flash flood

  • great vid. i've always wanted to see how flash floods are like. we have many of them in the Jordanian desert and have a lot of mini grand canyons, we always hear about flash floods but i never actualy saw one. this footage is great, shows exactly how scary is can be. i'll think twice before i venture into one of them now :)

  • amazing footage. Get to higher ground!

  • @msfpmm nah its ok, MAYBE if theres enough water they could float to the top

  • They must have die no?

Like, videotape (flash drive?) saved from the water in someway, retrieved by rangers, shown here.

  • no that wouldnt kill them

  • I'd be running away

  • @geanemachine9 No kidding, me too! Great footage though!

  • awesome shot

  • Man, that is an amazing shot you got there. I cannot wait to move back home to Arizona and live my life again.

  • very safe

  • Great video, Thanks for sharing it.

  • LOL, you're right. But hey, if something happens you can still sue somebody else, like the State because there were not enough warnings. =)

  • Fuckin' A right. The Canyon kills fools all the time. Trouble is, this type of people clog up the the waiting list for thru-hiking the Bright Angel Trail. That sucks for us more respectful sorts.

  • awesome...never seen before...

  • HA HA HA! Its So Cool! Hey mom look at me! The waters all the way up to my knees! HA HA HA its so fun!

  • Zion National Park?

  • You should always seek higher ground when that happens. So many people die during flash floods in GC.

  • So was that a blair witch project video or are you just a "safety first" person?

  • Go eat some trail mix and hug a tree.

  • hahaha

  • id be scared

  • very nice vid! were not scared of being trapped n swept away or did u know the water would never get high enough?

  • hahaha thats cool. awsome vid man.

  • I would have been shooting from higher ground. Or at least shooting as I was climbing. :) Awesome vid though.

  • This is awsome footage. I would have been freaked out myself.

  • Man, whatever you're on, I want some - what's it like inside your skull??

  • you guys are about to be traped down there..no?

  • thats how it got to bee that deep in the first place

  • wow

  • waterfalls at 0:41 must be mile high!

  • Very cool.

    Always check the weather forecast!

  • a fast physical process ocurring

  • Now I see how the whole world was formed in like 6,000 years. The whole thing makes sense.

  • the earth wasn't formed in like 6000 years... but in about 4,5 billion years, you forgot to count the formation of the rocks the canyon itself is made of...

  • Dude - he was being sarcastic.

  • That's like some crazy sh*t out of The Lord of the Rings! I assume you all were standing on high ground? :-P

  • not very smart to be in the bottom of the canyon

you guys could have been drowned or killed!

  • but at least if you had drowned you would not have been killed - haha

  • thats amazing

  • Great video. I could understand your excitement. Fantastic, thanks

  • Look like they in Trap! lol

  • it would be wise not to stand in a basin filled with sediment during a flash flood......(landslides)

  • I'm not trying to be a smart ass when I ask the question: where did you want them to go? Seems the term "flash" means the phenomenom happens pretty quickly, so how would they have had time to hike back up the canyon in time? Just asking ... in case, by chance, I am caught in the same situation. =)

To jwstang3119: thank u so much for uploading this video! Although you found yourself in a potentially hazardous scenerio, you allowed so many to witness a once in a lifetime unique experience.

  • @SomaSounds You have never been to the Grand Canyon have you?

  • @OptimusPrime571 No, I haven't. What about my comment/question makes you ask? My comment was in response to @KAlandJACO.

Oh wait, was it the "once in a lifetime unique experience" part? Are you suggesting this happens often @ the Grand Canyon? If that's the case then I understand your comment. Anyway, it is a place I'd love to check out some day.

  • Excellent!

  • Epic!

  • I would have loved to see it in person! :)

    GReat footage!

  • Where is this?

  • hahahaha

  • We were hiking out about 4 years ago when a flood hit us in the canyon...not this magnitude. We were scared more from the lightening than the water though. So why go August? It usually always floods then.

  • some idiot had to make a remark that you something like a third grader ... how awesome you are compared tho them. what a comment ... remarkable footage your a hero , ty

  • Awesome, this happened to us when we passed by Bryce and Zion the end of September, 2007. So many waterfalls all over like these at Bryce Canyon. Fantastic, once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for sharing this video. i should share my video too but I have difficulty uploading.

  • This is awsome footage. I would have been freaked out myself.

  • I would have been worried about the rocks coming down on me.

  • cool but deadly

  • That must have been amazing to see and hear.

  • Deadly.

  • Don't forget all that water makes the river rise, and the river itself could become one giant flash flood.

  • haha the water makes the mountains look like there bleeding

  • These people had no idea in how much danger they were in at the time. At any moment they could have been engulfed by a wall of water. The GC floor in these conditions is not to be fooled with!

  • Rare majestic beauty at it's finest.

  • this is pretty awesome

    5 stars

  • Cool video. That's a perfect time to spark one up--which I hope you did.

  • dude I think this is exactly the same campsite that I was at when I saw the samething with the waterfalls and flashfloods! Nothing compares to being whitness to that.

  • I saw something similar.

The rain was so warm you could take your clothes off and stand in it comfortably.

  • Truly kickass video. I had a similar experience in 2004, near Nankoweap Creek. I stood out in the rain, watching waterfalls appear, while everybody else huddled under tarps. I was spellbound.
