  • - these are old leopards. Do Canada still use them or have they by now changed to the Leo 2?

  • :D :I :( :D HI

  • do taliban have tanks helicopters missiles and airplanes ?

  • just passed my interview and aced the tests. I should be starting in Sept/Oct hopefully :D (Armored Soldier of course)

  • Tanks suks.

  • i hate army news reporters so much. they are like emotionless thugs. :)

  • AWESOME FROM AN AMERICAN!!

  • Truth,not trust

  • More Leo's? Canada, buy something that doesn't have the ammo exposed....

  • @25Milimeter

Canada uses Leopard 2a6m now. Dubbed "the best tank in the world" by many. Just, if not more effective than the American Abrams, with better protection systems.

  • @m1up The LEO2a6m is pretty good in every way,but its ammo is also exposed, one RPG to the spot where its stored and B00M.... But man,the Abrams is shit,I know this from an ex USA tanker,he said it had transmission problems, its ass slow, weight restricts it from going to certain places, its canister round is pointless and even got a hole in its turret by an RPG-7. Trust me,he said alot more, but you get the picture?

  • @25Milimeter

Yeah, Canada has a fantastic, but small armor unit. What I think, is that despite what everyone or all the media tells you, tanks or vehicles of any kind are deathtraps. 1 RPG in the rear, or in that tiny little opening, and you and your crew are toast.

  • @m1up I know, war is hell and we need to not fight everybody else's wars,Canada should just be Canada, not North America. We were tough and independent in WWII,we were fighting the Nazis before America started to prepare to come to the fight,we were farther out in D-day while 5th Ranger Regiments were fucked all over France. Sorry if I

Sorry if I sound a bit like a radical,I am patriotic..

  • @25Milimeter

Yeah, I understand the patriotic thing, I get busts of it once in awhile. But Canada has been in many wars, and has contributed vastly to the world in many ways. Canada's military history is big, especially for a country as young as it is and with the population it has. Canadian's are often said to be the most orderly soldiers you can get, and have the best training modern army's can offer. Not to mention the best sniper program in the world, and being known for toughness!

  • @m1up you know, that's exactly what they say about the Norwegian Army as well.

  • @LittleSM95

    I am Norwegian :)

  • @m1up me too.

  • @LittleSM95

    :D Hai

  • @m1up My father brother, and uncle have also told me some of the best food ever.

  • @Testement117

    Ya man. Can't beat it.

  • @25Milimeter the Abrams is shit compared to what? Every tank in history has been slow, heavy, ugly, gas guzzling, been hard to maintain and had a number of mechanical defects. It's always too hot, loud, cramped and dangerous (ex. autoloaders) inside them. As for vulnerability, a tanks is a bomb with tracks and a gun; moreover, compared to their ancestors, modern tanks are actually pretty good when it comes to not blowing up.

  • @garlicthethird I was just pissed that Abrams fanboys would come to a video thats about another tank, and gloat how they think its best when its highly flawed. The T-90 [not my favorite] is faster, uses less gas,has a larger gun,has much less flaws, easily makes the Abrams look bad. I like many things about the U.S Army, but not their fans who play COD,nor their tanks that are getting them killed.

  • @25Milimeter I can understand that. As for the T-90, I partial to human loaders.

  • @garlicthethird Even through the Abrams is a highly flawed tank,it somehow makes it to 3rd place, but I'd prefer the Leopard, cause I know it better.

  • @25Milimeter T90 has a history of taking the crew members arms off with the auto reloader. Manual loading wins every time

  • Sorry,I forgot the LEO2A6M has mine protection..

  • @m1up Truth is,we got the best but smallest armor unit in North America, the American vehicles have many defiancies, watch BlacktailDefence's videos, you'll see the trust behind US Propaganda....

  • it is no leopard 2, look at the exhaust, and look at the drivers mirrows optik

  • yeah, you´re right, doesn´t look like a Leopard 2

  • what a rediculously enormous show of force lol

its like an elephant trying to squah ants

  • @USMCM249gunner Maybe so, but just as I respect the USMC in it's desire to support and protect its Members, Canada does the same. Admittedly we don't have the resources you guys in America do, but we do tend to deploy the resources we have. The Infantry appreciate the cover and back up. It's for our own guys force protection that we shipped tanks there is all. I will say this is the first time I have EVER seen us (Canada) accused of a show of force!

  • @BunkerGearGal

probably the first time since WW2 for you guys to deploy tanks in a combat role.

  • @USMCM249gunner Korea

  • fuckin canadians

  • @ma0ma0ma0 ... rock!

  • that dosent look like a leo2 is it a modifide leo1?

  • yes that is a leo 1 modified for IED and RPG attack

  • Let's be friends guys, I'm sure there are a number of terrorists reading these posts and laughing at us argue with each other about which country is better, shame on you folks... don't give the enemy ammunition to use against us people...

  • I just joined, i gotta wait till the summer till basics but if i make it into infantry instead the training is even harder but a got all summer to train and build up stamina and strength. basics are pussy compared to infantry training!

  • 2 more years for me to join but I can't wait.

  • im going to be joining up in june when i graduate from high school baby cant w8!!!

  • it takes a while i hope you are not planning to start in june...

  • Today is November 1st ! I stand and salute everyone ,,, a whhoaaaa !!! RESPECTFULLY !!!!

  • lmao we can reach out and touch someone best line ever fro a tanker gunner

  • lmfao XD

  • that was not a leo 2!!!! look at the chassi!!!

  • that's a Leopard 1C2 there are Leopard 2 that was one of the old ones that was deployed

  • if i was a taliban with an RPG-7V or maybe if im really lucky one of the newer RPG-29's id still think "im a dead man" if leopard tanks came at me. might as well shoot spit wads at em. IED's would be my only prayer of even damaging a single track. those tanks are just tough. better slightly than the abrams or challenger or lecrec id say. also the most expensive.

  • WHO CARES which allied tank is better???

Fact : the islamist forces have no noteworthy armour for us to go up against.

Fact : we're on the same side, so having good tanks covering eachothers *sses is nothing but beneficial :)

Fact : only through team solidarity and conviction can we win this struggle.

  • Mmmm Canadian German leopard Tank, built like no other Tank

  • the Leopard 2A6M, the new minister of GET SOME!!!! :D

  • no dude um these are leo ès and now we have leo 2a6m we use leo 2a6ms

  • but hey they are not leo 2's they are just updated leo 1's! btw how many leo's dose Canada have?

  • they have both..they purchased 100 leo 2's from the dutch and i believe they're donating all the leo 1's to the ANA next year.

  • oh ok cool thank you ;)

  • The tracks aren't the same, they are quite different and yes they wear down pretty fast in Afghanistan, but its all part of being a tanker.

  • The Aussie army downgraded from Leopards to Abrams... bad move. They're too big and heavy for our roads or potential hostiles, too thirsty and way too expensive! (and we got second handers) Go the Leo 2's

  • leo 2's are heavier than abrams...it's funny because canada doesn't even have a plane that can lift a leo 2..c 17's can't do it.

  • I believe you are incorrect about the CC-177 Globemaster. Although AN-124's delivered the Canadian Leopards it was likely due to them being shipped from Europe rather than their weight. Re: Canadian American Strategic Review.

  • Nah i''v actually read it in several different places. Apparently the mine protection that was added put them over the plane's weight restrictions.

  • bitch learn ur facts about Canada ur probably an ignorant american who knows nothing of Canada and no leo 2s are not heavier infact our leo 2a6ms are even lighter than the old aussie leo 2a4s.

  • the heaviest version of the leopard 2 weighs 62 tons... the abrams m1a2 weighs 70 tons...

  • wow its soo wrong to sell tanks to canada oh ya i forgot we are a loose canon and might invade another country lol

  • canada is the most free countrie in the world i dont care wat any one says, it is!

  • I think you mean Sweden or Switzerland

I think the 2 only neutral countries in the world, so don't start something you do not know anything about.

I do like Canada, but I think you are wrong about that.

  • Reach out and touch someone... With a tank round...

  • i thought wwI was hitlers creation wanting to take more land for a bigger germany and killing off the jews???/ and wwII was because japan bombed pearl harbour??? then u.s.a dropped the atom bomb??

  • Oh, you best be jokin'...

  • Pearl Harbour was basically at the end of WW2, only reason America got involved..

  • How was Pearl Harbor "basically at the end of WW2"? All that really happened before that was Germany and Japan invading and bombing....1941 was the start of the invasion of the USSR, and the start of America's island-hopping campaign against the Japanese. Besides, WW2 started in 1939....and ended in 1945, so how is late '41 "basically at the end"?

  • Oh boy these tanks look good in the field :)

I wish there was more "Leopards in Afghanistan" videos. To some peoples earlier postings: whats wrong in selling Leopards to Canada?

  • A klick is slang for kilometre.

  • just one question,it might sound stupid, but what is a "click" in a sence od distance?its all over films, news, etc

and i dont have a clue!

    thx

  • hmmmm why to hell my country are sells tanks to canadian troops?! thats another reason to kill germans are stationed in afganistan! who was that fucking sick asshole ??? man man!

im in sorrow for all falling german soldiers but not for american warmongers!!!

if anybody now think "hey what wrong with u ? ur country (gemany) have blaming two worldwars" ... sorry dude that was history !!!

  • germany needed to sell tanks to us. germans aren't doing shit in afghanistan because of rules imposed on germany after ww2. and hey whats wrong with you? if you look at history its clear that germany didn't start ww1. they just got left "holding the bag" as it were.

  • Maybe the treads was a bad example since as you point out, it's a problem for both versions of the Leopard. I chose it because the terrain really wears out the equipment. Even our LAV IIIs are only operated for a year there before being rotated out. Problems specific to the C2 in Af'stan are mainly cooling and lubrication. Also, the Canadian Forces website mentions that the tankers prefer the A26Ms because the C2s need a push to get them started. XD They're showing their age.

  • You have a point. The Leo 2A6M is sort of wasted in it's current role. But due to the stupidity of the Liberals (the political party who formed our previous federal government) we have a shortage of troop/supply-carrying helicopters. So, we escort a lot of convoys, face a lot of road-side bombs etc. We REALLY appreciate the 2A6M. Our RG31s and LAVs can't take the punishment a tank can. And it's hard to find replacement parts for the C2 (treads/tracks wear out quickly on the Afghan terrain).

  • The C2's won't be getting A/C. We're going to retire them now that we have new Leopard 2s. The upgrade to new equipment is long overdue. And yes, the MGS has been scrapped thanks to our experiences in Afghanistan. It's showed that there still is a need for tanks - the wheeled, lightly armoured MGS just isn't up to the task.

  • Canadian Generals aren't pushovers, they press and press until they get it, even if it's old. The C2's maybe old but still bite. I bet our new 2A6M's are creating alot of havoc too.

  • Your comments made me curious about what the Aussie Army has for Armour. I searched YouTube and learned 2 things: (1) they just bought a bunch of Abrams tanks from the U.S. and (2) you're conspicuously absent from commenting in any of the videos. Hmmm! I'd have bet money that a neo-Ludd like you would be screaming about the depleted uranium armor. But, not a whisper. I guess its more fun to be holier-than-thou over what other countries do. Hey how's that Iraq war going?

  • What a weird way of behaving... I think the Australian Army can do what it likes - the point is - WHY get excited about it? And the reason why you all get excited about it is that you are missing something - the very tangible connection between big metal things for killing and killing itself. You can wrap it up in all the denial, common sense, "reality" and "immanent threat" you like, the facts are its a little like masturbating over a corpse - it just strikes me as plain weird.

  • LOL - Wow it's like you've known me all my life!! I love it when impartial observers such as yourself equate support for one's military with homosexuality and necrophilia. That must be quite common in Australia, considering your country was founded by Britain's gutter scum.

  • That sgt looks like such a plug

  • Isn't it lovely to see all you boys getting all buddied up over a tank, some murderous tales of derring-doo, and some handsome young men out fighting the hun.

PS Newsreader looks like a patriotic receptionist at a cheap scandinavian hotel.

  • Interesting to see an Aussie bitching about Canadian troops fighting a U.N.-sactioned war but keeping his fucking mouth shut about Aussie troops in Iraq. Oh, and the quip about "...a patriotic receptionist at a cheap scandinavian Hotel"? Gayest insult EVER.

  • I thought it was a pretty accurate observation. I'm not actually bitching about Canadian troops fighting a UN-sanctioned war, I'm bitching about the stupidity of grown adults getting all gee'd up over hunks of metal, designed for killing. Go ask your local GP: "Is killing people good for your health?"

My theory is that ALL of you metal-and-oil and internal combustion engine folks have had a hard time breaking away from Dad. Strong character was he? Go vote republican, go screw the planet.

  • "Is killing people good for your health"? In a war, YES, being able to kill people who are trying to kill you IS good for your health (dumb@ss)! And I think I speak for "ALL of you metal-and-oil internal combustion engine folks" when I say that we thought that all you Luddites died in the 19th century. How odd that you anti-technology freaks manage to somehow get on the Internet. I liked the Dad reference tho. Thanks for confirming that Aussies are a bunch of limp-wristed pansies.

  • Yea, but what a situation to get yourself in - "sheet, now I gotta kill someone.." How about admitting, at least theoretically, that NO war is a GOOD thing, and so getting all illogically hard at the sight of boys in tanks and stogie-chewin' tough guys is just a little weird. And for the record - the internal combustion engine IS for luddites - I have a high tech job, live thick in the world of innovation, and KNOW the engine is being willfully hampered in its development. By luddites.

  • sometimes war is the only solution. When two people can't resolve something, what do they do? they begin to fight. When countries can't agree, they wage war.

  • sometimes? allways

  • This news couldn't be more Canadian. BooYA!

  • Nice to see that you like the German engineering. That way the will see combat. I dont see German Leopards in Combat soon..

    Be Victory with you!

  • These guys are great. Excellent. greetings from Atlanta.

  • Can't wait til the Leopard 2s get there

  • I wish I could all pro like you GM. Nice work man.

  • Tanks provide mobile artillery support and are more accurate than bombing/missiles from aircraft. They are highly effective and very useful in the current environment in Afghanistan

  • @wajidkhanmp our brit troops want tanks aswell in afghan, but its a logistical nightmare to get them there :(

  • @wajidkhanmp btw when i mean tanks i meant Challenger 2s

  • @wajidkhanmp except for the mountainous regions. Something the soviets sort of miscalculated is that the cannon has limited elevation and mr. taliban likes to hit from high ground. But yes i fully agree deploying heavy armor in afghanistan is extremely effective.

  • Keep going guys. You are the first western army to realise the situation needs heavy armour in Afghan. Long live MBT's.

  • We're proud of you guys (and that's from a old infanteer). Take care.

  • theres ma boy GM

  • Tak'em and drive through Mushaif's front door if need be!

    The Maple Leaf Forever!

  • Good stuff.
