Re: NORADYNE, did you even bother to wikipedia this man? Do you know he's a fucking classical music composer and conductor? Did you ever see videos of his guitar army? He knows more about music theory and how to break it properly than Hendrix ever did. Assumptions make an ass out of you and me...
arto lindsay wana b exactly why arto amongst other bands asked fer glen branca not to be in bryan enos no-wave compilation of bands and artist and he wasnt cause this shit its not even skronk because arto is using rythm not caos
Hendrix was musically artistic... I know that much. Hendrix had style and technique and an understanding of music and knew how to break the rules properly. This guy is just strumming and fretting without any knowledge of what he is actually doing. I can give my guitar to my 6yr old son and he can do the same thing.
he sounds like a 10 year old being allowed to "play" his older brothers guitar...i know branca has better work out there, but that was just nonsense and noise, anyone with no guitar playing experience could have done that....check out brancas other works here...they will impress you more
Glenn Branca - got a lot of his ideas from Rhys Chatham - Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Varese, Penderecki,John Cage, Sonic Youth, Einsterzendeneubauten etc. sometimes what you don't understand can seem like shit - it's an easy way to pass something off - so why do these people get the attention they get - thankfully there is room in the world for many approaches to an idea. I enjoyed seeing this video. The crowd seemed to enjoy the show.
he can't exactly get his ideas from them if they didn't exist at the time...unless I misread your comment, and you just meant that he got them from chatham.
you misread my comment - I had a list of artists - like a succession of ideas- I was in high school wnen the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and No New York came out - I know the history
great to see this. sure, this particular piece is a bunch of hairy noise but most of his work for guitar ensembles was very structured, even elegant in a way, so it's exciting to see him do something so expressionistic and gestural (and for the clip to be only 2 min long!)
Yeah, this is like all those artists who figure that being actually talented isn't a requirement for fame. Ofcourse, good things can come out of it but seeing as it is more of a coinsidence that something they create becomes rather good it does in no way make them ggod at what they do.
This is just bad though, defines all that is wrong with art today.
Seeing that she is gifted, not talented as she just have the voice and noting else with the process of making one of the songs, it is only a barely better example of art. So yeah.
Fyi: This guy is responsible for sonic youth. Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo played in one of his ensembles. Also they each had bands that played at noise festivals put together by Kim Gordon. p.s. Branca's favorite drug combo was qualudes and amphetamines. Can u tell?
saw this guy in 1980 something, conducting 8? electric guitarists all differently tuned. Sounded fing awful , but there were a few nanoseconds of incredible revelation which obviously made some impression on me , I remembered his name, and the idea.
it's from an old party- c'mon!

but, ya know, party, guitar, go for it...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Uhhh... yeah. You keep on thinking that and maybe it'll come true. Jimi actually made music not senseless noise.

Break the rules properly? Isn't that pretty oxymoronic?

I`m sorry I agreed with everything he said except for that break the rules part too.

I would love to go to Guitar Center and ask to play the most expensive guitar they have, crank a Marshall stack to 10 and try and recreate this solo.
