@dchubad i know, right? this finch escaped.. and i couldnt catch him.. worrying about flying into a mirror or window in a wide open space. so i left a water & food atop the cage. left for a bit. walked into the room.. woah. cool. haha
@amandawho i too keep gouldians and they are far from stupid. you only need to leave their cage door open and leave their food and water in the cage as normal, they will go back into their cage when they want too. they know where their home is and where their food is so i wouldnt worry if they get out. i let mine out everyday and they love it. i have 4 chicks about to leave the nest too :)
I have one of these. His name is Youri. He's really unusual as far as finches go tho because he loves to be held by people. He'll land on anyone who holds out a hand to him, and he'll let you pet him and everything. He's my little buddy! Oh and his best friend is my canary named Dimitri! They play like two little kittens lol it's funny!
@riceicles123 .This type of gouldian known as 'normal or greenback' sold by a reputable breeder averages USD$65-125ea. Some factors are colour, sex and genetics. There are other variety of gouldian finch.. all are quite expensive. [an excellent reference is ladygoudianfinch . com
cool I saw one for 138 dollars at petsmart and I saw another one on this one farm I went to for a class assignment and the farmer wanted to sell it to me for 25 dollars what a deal right they are one of the prettiest birds I've ever seen I'm going to subscribe to you......
@1fishfinatic3 These beautiful birds are a grassfinch native to Australia; There are less than 2500 estimated to live in the wild. Mine are American :) Nevertheless, Integrity of the species and knowing its genetic composition are so so important.
i am looking forward! my 2008 season's young goulds arent swimming like that. But my young shafttails are! i ll upload some vids soon. Check out my videos for my zebra finch bath ;)
the water seem quite deep..there is a chance of drowning...;)

LOL wonderful. My goulds would never dare get that wet. They often stand on the edge and put their beaks in and flutter. It's comical.
