Hey!! I just got D Activator pickups and It dosent sound like chris brodericks sound.I put them into my LTD Mh-1000 deluxe. Do you have to ware them out a little to get the sound?
Sorry, but that will not change the sound. Your guitar is not identical in terms of construction to Chris' guitar, and it will make a difference, as will your choice of amplifiers. You should also be aware that Chris's neck pickup has much more similarity to a PAF Pro than to a D Activator neck model.
hello there. i currently have a dean, set neck mahogany bodied flying v with two cheap humbucking pickups. the pickups that come with the guitar dont have enough output and clarity for droptuning. i want to put a crunch lab in the bridge and a liquifier in the neck.would these pickups be a good match?
Sorry, I need to be a little fan girl for a second here.....My lord look at Chris's arms!!!! Fucking sexy man right there! He can hold me with those arms any day!
i hate the fact that Chris gave up his identity in Megadeth. I thought he was goiung to bring up some new blood in the band.... but nah, he became "just another one" in Megadeth. All this "try not to be faster then Dave" stuff is awful. His solos in Jag was so much faster, so richer in terms of sweep picking and so on.... damned. I'm afraid 13 will be the same
Chris was drunk durring this interview....I mean thats the only way that a total pro like him would forget what notes he was about to play right????!!!!
"Metal" means different things to different players. Please email us at tech@dimarzio.com and tell us what sound you're looking for, along with what guitar and amp you have.
They are very comparable in terms of output level and overall tone. If you have more detailed questions about them, please email us at tech@dimarzio.com
Thanks! How would D Activators sound in a Les Paul? Good? Bad? What pickup would you suggest. I need low end, warm, yet powerful with great harmonic response. Thanks again DiMarzio
Honestly i hate when bassist have to demonstrate they play funk -.- PLAY SOME BRUTAL BASS LINES DAMMIT hehehehe :P Ok do what u want but since your in megadeth dont play just the pentatonic :P
ive got a mexican made jazz bass what would someone recommend for something thats like a cross between funky flea tone and a punk rock anti-flag tone. they dont have to be dimarzio's but it seems like the guy working for them actually responds to these questions so gimmie your thoughts!
@caft400 if you people simply watch the video until the end, you will see chris teaching how to play the solo from head crusher. 4:21 its where he starts to play the solo.
OMG! Where can I buy these super wonderful, never-to-be-equalled, DiMarzio pickups? They're the best ever, right? Hand wound by Kazakhstani virgins, with magnets made from unicorn poo. They'll make me play as good as Chris Broderick, right? RIGHT?! Please, *please*, *PLEASE* let me buy them!
@BobsOldSocks Hi, DiMarzio pickups are available nation wide. If you prefer the internet shopping try Musician's Friend or Sam Ash. If you prefer a local dealer, please go to dimarzio.com , then click on PICKUPS, then Humbuckers then D Activator and you can find a location.
I've been using Dimarzio Paf Pro's for 15 years! Totally dig that fact that no matter how fast and brutal I play you can hear every note independently without and mud or bleeding together.
i thought he played a bit sloppy there, not his best performance even though i know it isn't a gig or a full lesson just a few tricks n' tips, but still could've been better, but yeah broderick is one hell of a player aswell as lomenzo.
Ellefsons good n all.. but honestly i though that james was better... i just liked james in megadeth.... he just added so much too megadeth... great bassist... love him. wish hed come back
@JAAM013 i`d love to know where you found that out, he still uses that ibanez, live and everywhere, he could have a jackson guitar, but in his guitar review, he has like 4 guitars total, 2 ibanez guitars for live, 1 for dressing room, and 1 for the studio
Hi Larry, I love how every artist you interview starts talking about the pickups they use and they end up getting all excited and desperate for playing to demonstrate how it sounds like that they actually do it before even finishing what they were talking about.
That's what we call Larry DiMarzio's Magic. Thanks for everything.
excuse me what its the song that they play at the first part of the video tu ru ru ru ru ru chris do that on the first string! sorry for my bad english!
speaking of chris's arms, i couldn't stop staring at them. not only is he my favorite guitarist but my oh my he's sexy. just saying. im a sucker for dudes with big arms.

The tightest 7-string pickup we make is the D Activator 7 neck model. It can also be used in the bridge position if clarity is the quality you're looking for.
