  • look at that bicep!

  • Hey!! I just got D Activator pickups and It dosent sound like chris brodericks sound.I put them into my LTD Mh-1000 deluxe. Do you have to ware them out a little to get the sound?

  • @psalvacion

Sorry, but that will not change the sound. Your guitar is not identical in terms of construction to Chris' guitar, and it will make a difference, as will your choice of amplifiers. You should also be aware that Chris's neck pickup has much more similarity to a PAF Pro than to a D Activator neck model.

  • @LarryDiMarzio Whats the PAF pro?

  • hello there. i currently have a dean, set neck mahogany bodied flying v with two cheap humbucking pickups. the pickups that come with the guitar dont have enough output and clarity for droptuning. i want to put a crunch lab in the bridge and a liquifier in the neck.would these pickups be a good match?

  • @jscott2250

Yes, but you might get better results in this guitar with an F-spaced D Activator bridge model in the bridge position.

  • @LarryDiMarzio thanks!

  • friend I play metal, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer ... the d activator is ideal for what I play? sounds great

  • @masterjh1

It should be a good choice.

  • 6:06...Chris(

  • hello.. i have an ibanez RG 350, its H-S-H... do you think that the D Activator will work well in the split-coil positions? middle/bridge..

  • @magicthunder666

Yes. It has a good split sound.

  • intro is washington is Next dumbasses....

  • head crusher? .-. isn't Washington is next?

  • @MrKinosagi its deffinently washington is next i was thinking that too

  • Lol "Washington is next". Love Lomenzo.

  • I wish James never had left the band :(.

  • ....washington is next

  • man!!!,dat bass line is insane.dun know if ellefson will be able to play dat

  • @theudrocks of course will be able, but dun know if ellefson could write something like that

  • @theudrocks well they've played that live since he rejoined so yeah

  • so awesome!! 2:44

  • Comment removed

  • Head Crusher WTF!!?? LOL

  • 3:56 is like the intro of Public enemy No. 1

  • Sorry, I need to be a little fan girl for a second here.....My lord look at Chris's arms!!!! Fucking sexy man right there! He can hold me with those arms any day!

  • Does anyone else think that they both sound a little like Mustain?

  • James LoMenzo is soooo cool

  • i hate the fact that Chris gave up his identity in Megadeth. I thought he was goiung to bring up some new blood in the band.... but nah, he became "just another one" in Megadeth. All this "try not to be faster then Dave" stuff is awful. His solos in Jag was so much faster, so richer in terms of sweep picking and so on.... damned. I'm afraid 13 will be the same

  • God James was SOOOO much better than Ellefson IMO, I miss James but i guess its cool Dave E is back....

  • @qmanhell94 fair-skinned, blonde guy with long hair... just great haha XD

  • Chris played sloppy O.o

Still better than most covers :P

  • JAMES LOMENZO = J.LO

  • Chris was drunk durring this interview....I mean thats the only way that a total pro like him would forget what notes he was about to play right????!!!!

  • 2 fucking good musicians MEGADETH RULES

  • that first bit was not head crusher, it was washington is next

  • @MetalMarvels yeah I know WTF that is not head crusher thats Washington is next.

  • is chris broderick doing some signature pickups with di marzio like he said he was?

  • what pick ups do you recommend for 7 metal riffing at bridge and neck

I am confused between cruch lab, dsonic, activator and x2n

  • @nitinlkoin1984

"Metal" means different things to different players. Please email us at tech@dimarzio.com and tell us what sound you're looking for, along with what guitar and amp you have.

  • For some reason, james looks like he belongs in iron maiden

  • Jesus Christ, Chris is huge haha

  • what model is that of guitar? i mean the name

  • 0:25 LoMenzo is all like "man I can't believe I'm jamming with God"

  • @psalvacion actually it has seven

  • How would D Activators compare to EMG's?

  • @Therium1

They are very comparable in terms of output level and overall tone. If you have more detailed questions about them, please email us at tech@dimarzio.com

  • What kind of guitar is Chris playing?

  • @metalhead4195 It`s a 7 string ibanez.

  • damn those biceps :D

  • ...just for flavor of course

  • Thanks! How would D Activators sound in a Les Paul? Good? Bad? What pickup would you suggest. I need low end, warm, yet powerful with great harmonic response. Thanks again DiMarzio

  • @iGuitarGuru

A D Activator bridge model should be good in the bridge position, but you might try a Breed neck model in the neck if you want a warmer tone.

  • Dream Band Lineup

    Ozzy Osbourne- lead vocals

    Slash- lead guitars

    Dave Mustaine- rhythm guitars

    James Lomenzo- bass

    Mike Portnoy- drums

    Make it happen come 2012!!!

  • @irwin3036able slash is over-rated as a guitarist. hes still amazing but people think he is better than he actually is.

  • @irwin3036able

    Mustaine shits on Slash.

  • @Chester1004 I've never heard a human being be more wrong in an ignorant opinion as you just were. Congrats.

  • @irwin3036able Or Zakk in the lead...

  • DiMarzio would D Activators work in a Gibson Les Paul?

  • @iGuitarGuru

Yes. With any Les Paul made after 1999, the neck pickup should be standard-spaced and the bridge pickup should be F-spaced.

  • at 0:40 im like dont quit playing please!

  • Honestly i hate when bassist have to demonstrate they play funk -.- PLAY SOME BRUTAL BASS LINES DAMMIT hehehehe :P Ok do what u want but since your in megadeth dont play just the pentatonic :P

  • I HATE CHRIS BRODERICK, he makes me want to put my guitar down forever, hes too damn good

  • James sounds exactly like Dave :O

  • @zuueLL hahaha so true! i was thinking the same =P

  • @zuueLL HAHA,not at all.

  • ive got a mexican made jazz bass what would someone recommend for something thats like a cross between funky flea tone and a punk rock anti-flag tone. they dont have to be dimarzio's but it seems like the guy working for them actually responds to these questions so gimmie your thoughts!

  • @yomammaonastick

The Ultra Jazz set might be good for what you want.

  • @jeweljohn74 It is Washington is Next...

  • This guitar is an Ibanez RG custom just made for The amazing Chris Broderick!!

I wish i had that guitar, its so beautiful!!!

  • people need to get their song info right

  • What exact Model is this ibanez? looks absolutely beautiful.

  • chris has a bad ass 7 string he`s playin there

  • i want to be chris

  • washington is next is no headcrusher

  • anyone know what kind of thumb-pick thing Chris is using in this?

  • 00:35...ha that sounds almost EXACTLY like Wasted Years by Iron Maiden

  • @Vanjal was just checking to see if someone had said that, the end bit is a dead ringer.

  • @caft400 if you people simply watch the video until the end, you will see chris teaching how to play the solo from head crusher. 4:21 its where he starts to play the solo.

  • Lomenzo is so cool!

  • Lomenzo haves the same voice as Dave. ^^

  • ahaha dude the bass player is my friends dad

  • @blink182lives100

    You know Lomenzo's kid?

  • X2N pickup simply the best.

  • That vein's gonna pop aaaaany moment now!

  • OMG! Where can I buy these super wonderful, never-to-be-equalled, DiMarzio pickups? They're the best ever, right? Hand wound by Kazakhstani virgins, with magnets made from unicorn poo. They'll make me play as good as Chris Broderick, right? RIGHT?! Please, *please*, *PLEASE* let me buy them!

  • @BobsOldSocks Hi, DiMarzio pickups are available nation wide. If you prefer the internet shopping try Musician's Friend or Sam Ash. If you prefer a local dealer, please go to dimarzio.com , then click on PICKUPS, then Humbuckers then D Activator and you can find a location.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • Dude, Larry DiMarzio just replied to you.

  • OMG i love the fucking RGA7, i wan it so bad!

  • does anyone know the tab to that bass intro washington is next?

  • Master. The guy is a Jedi of the guitar.

  • SHIT! he has fuckin HUGE biceps!!!

  • That's Washington is Next, dude, wrong song, wrong album..

  • does anyone notice chris uses 7-strings?

  • It's not Headcrusher and it's even not an "Endgame" song :-D

  • He played the intro of Wasted Years..

  • Will i be able to install active pickups to a les paul?

  • "just a.. for flavor" lmao

  • Im chris broderick and ur never gonna play guitar like nor your gonna have muscles like mine!

  • Since Chris is in Jackson now, do you guys at Dimarzio think that you can ask Chris if i can have his Ibanez? :DD

  • His muscels need nevermore!! not megadeth!

  • The first part was "washington is next"

  • oh fuck :DDDD lomenzo's voice sounds like mustaine's :DDDDD

  • @IHateEmoAndTH I thought that too I was like where is dave i hear but dont see him?

  • oh fuck :DDDD lomenzo's voice sounds like mustaine's :DDDDDDDDDDDD

  • this is too crazy.. hahaa

  • James just can't sit still, lol. He keeps on quietly playing or fiddling with his knobs or whatever when Chris is talking

  • I've always viewed James as a bassist iron maiden influenced. looks like he could fit right in

  • Chris Broderick is the Duke Nukem of metal

  • i need to know the model of the guitar of chris

  • @kikelabmor Its a custom Shop Ibanez S series, the prestige Ibanez S7 with the same pups will give you pretty much the same tone

  • @kikelabmor Chris is playing a custom made Ibanez here.He has a signature model with Jackson coming out this year.

  • I've been using Dimarzio Paf Pro's for 15 years! Totally dig that fact that no matter how fast and brutal I play you can hear every note independently without and mud or bleeding together.

  • i thought he played a bit sloppy there, not his best performance even though i know it isn't a gig or a full lesson just a few tricks n' tips, but still could've been better, but yeah broderick is one hell of a player aswell as lomenzo.

  • james is a fantastic bass player and was a great backup vocal also when he was in the band!

  • wow

  • To play like Chris you need such an arms first.

  • Broderick's tone!!! OMG! Eargastic!

  • Head Crusher???? WASHINGTON IS NEXT!!!!!!!

  • Ellefsons good n all.. but honestly i though that james was better... i just liked james in megadeth.... he just added so much too megadeth... great bassist... love him. wish hed come back

  • Thumbs up for the demand of 6-string Blaze pickups!

  • Would I be able to get a similar sounds to James, using a fender precision, using just the Will Power middle Pickup?

  • that guitar is the sexiest guitar ever made

  • Is it just me or is Megadeth too easy for Broderick's skills?

  • @Phil910626 he enjoys what he does so it realy doesnt matter

  • chris uses jacksons now, ill bet those d activiators really pop now!

  • @JAAM013 i`d love to know where you found that out, he still uses that ibanez, live and everywhere, he could have a jackson guitar, but in his guitar review, he has like 4 guitars total, 2 ibanez guitars for live, 1 for dressing room, and 1 for the studio

  • Hi Larry, I love how every artist you interview starts talking about the pickups they use and they end up getting all excited and desperate for playing to demonstrate how it sounds like that they actually do it before even finishing what they were talking about.

That's what we call Larry DiMarzio's Magic. Thanks for everything.

  • the first song is WASHINGTON IS NEXT! isn't "HEAD CRUSHER"

  • hes the chef of solos he added the hungarian minor "just for flavor"

  • excuse me what its the song that they play at the first part of the video tu ru ru ru ru ru chris do that on the first string! sorry for my bad english!

  • speaking of chris's arms, i couldn't stop staring at them. not only is he my favorite guitarist but my oh my he's sexy. just saying. im a sucker for dudes with big arms.

  • When he brakes down the endgame solo it sounds like a cooking show.

  • What tipe of pickup do you recomend for a Jackson JS-1 ? I play metal, by the way

  • @nikooxmaster

There are too many choices to make a recommendation without more information. Please email us at tech@dimarzio.com with a more detailed description of the type of music you play, and let us know what type of amp you use.

  • That 7 strings guitar is very nice

  • Hey man tHe First song isn't Head Crusher is Washington is next from the album united abominations

  • that song was Washington is next not head crusher

  • lol, broderick sounds like a cook on a talkshow explaining a meal when he explains headcrusher! :D

  • that guy has a muscle the size of my head XD

  • thats not head crusher is washington is next

  • @caft400 ooooooooooooh, i guess i should learn to read previous comments. shame on me :(

  • @caft400 watch the full vid

  • @caft400 watch the whole video

  • @caft400 if you people simply watch the video until the end, you will see chris teaching how to play the solo from head crusher. 4:21 its where he starts to play the solo.

  • @caft400

    LOL!!!!

I was like hmmm they are playing Washington is next and soon they play Head Crusher,,,then music stops and i was like wtf,,,where is head crusher =D

  • @caft400 intro song is washington is next, end song headcrusher

  • @caft400 You're kidding right?

  • @caft400 But they play Head Crusher in the end

  • di marzio r the best pickups & efects period .

  • whats the song at the begining of the video

  • @theebassman100 washington is next

  • How much are the ones that Chris has??

  • Chris shoulda stayed in Nevermore

  • Hi, VERY cool video i love megadeth

  • The only dimarzios i like are the paf pro dp151. They have a more compressed sound which gives a natural wah feel without being too aggressive. But im a strat player and im looking for all over the place sound. I like to play jazz, classic, metal, and rythm.. On my strat i have this very rare effect which i cant find anyone with the same thing. On the humbucker channel i can turn both nobs down and i get very compressed yet clean sound that gives my tone a wah tone with sustain when gain is there

  • @Guitarstring187

The Pro Track (DP188) is a Strat-sized humbucker that's pretty similar to the PAF Pro. It might be a good choice if you have a Strat.

  • @LarryDiMarzio Actually im really looking into the tone bucker i think its called. Its a nice compressed bucker that gives the vowel sound

  • am i the only one who loves the headcrusher solo ?

  • I cant help but notice you put the song as headcrusher,.... its not. its Washington is Next :P

  • hey larry, what pickups set would be good for my ibanez 7 string. i play technical death metal and i need something with tightness and clarity.(dont wanna route for active pickups)

  • @elementskater94

The tightest 7-string pickup we make is the D Activator 7 neck model. It can also be used in the bridge position if clarity is the quality you're looking for.

  • @LarryDiMarzio Hey do you makes a model for a LTD ESP F-105 of the will power middle and the ultra jaz bridge?

  • You can't spell Broderick without Bro!

  • I wanna see broderick and Petrucci wrestle... after a guitar battle of course

  • I don't know about you guys but i was awed by chris broderick's guitar!!!, that thing is one of the most beautiful guitars i have ever seen and it is also a shredding machine. I MUST HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!

  • those hungarian gypsies make good metal solos

  • He's awesome, Lomenzo. I met him today at the bass clinic, and we talked and I got a photo. Great bass player.

  • how do the d activators compare with EMGs?

  • @naguiat1

We go into a lot of detail about this in the D Activator descriptions on our website. Please have a look.

  • i know im gonna get a lot of flack for this but i think brodrick is the best lead guitarist that has ever been in megadeth, and lomenzio was good but no one bets junior
