  • Your ethics professor declared moral relativism to be the correct theory?

    Epic fail on his part.

  • ''Because I never stop thinking about Harry Potter'' <333 oh I love you.

And this would be really something I would do as well! Why are people so narrow-minded... especially when they are a freaking teacher?

  • fucking canadians......

  • Wow...you must go to a shit college if the lecturers can dump out that sort of crap and not get run out of town...thank god i'm taught by world class philosohphers at UofT...

  • We're a "Culture", says Philosophy Professor

So are bacteria on a petri dish full of agar ....

  • oh my good, is your professor pablo campillo? xd

last year i had a professor that was exactly like yours, he started talkind about society and finished talking about he talking to a guy in the subway, xD

PS: sorry for my crapy english, im from argeentina (yeeaah you have a fan in argentina "yay" xd) wrock is awesome, morning myrtles, remus lupins, parselmouths, whomping willows, malfoys, potters, aall wizard rock is awesome

  • That's absolutely made of awesome. I would have died in that class.

  • 4 me you r perfect

  • Hmmmm... good job to the ethics professor. I mean, way to set a good example: being tolerant and accepting of other worldviews.

    (sarcasm)

  • thanks for sharing this - I love hearing about all the ways HP keeps turning up in everyday life. I recently took my very last (woohoo!) law school exam, which featured a question involving...Harry Potter. No doubt the professor wondered why I was grinning the whole time. Wish I had been one of those black-robed people in Toronto! May the Potter conferences continue, even after the only characters we can acurately portray are those of the Dumbledore & McGonagall generations.

  • What was the question?

  • The question revolved around a stolen laptop computer that Harry purchased from the thief (he actually traded his motorcycle for it). While I didn't comment on the improbability of Harry trading his godfather's motorcycle for a laptop, I couldn't keep from pointing out that Harry didn't actually need a computer at all, because Muggle electronics don't work at Hogwarts. An observation that did wonders for my grade, I'm sure...

  • At 2:24, was that Bre? From ifancythetrio?

  • Yeah, she's in at least two of the pictures.

  • Hahaha! That's hilarious!

  • That was soooooo funny! When you walked out of the frame I died!!!

  • This video makes me happy.

  • yay! that teacher was awesome until he walked away from you. (but it's still cool he mentioned it.)

and I'm in the same picture Pippa's in! yay!

  • wow. that's great! i wish my professors would mention HP!

  • XD its a good thing you didn't tell him that some even go about carrying pieces of wood in their pockets pretending that there wands, and even try launching spells at each other. Or that some argue about fictional characters romantic interludes til on the verge of beating each other...he probably would have dropped you from the class at that point.

But then again he doesn't get what an awesome culture we are!

  • Toronto

    :D

    :O.

  • didn't your teacher notice that the people in black robes may have had a harry potter tie on? or do normal people don't see that?

  • i think he was just clueless because hogwarts uniorm is pretty famous

  • omg!!!

thats what my friends do when i talk about harry potter...

  • That's AMAZING.

I got really happy when my teacher just mentioned Harry Potter book as an example for the rising action and climax and resolution and stuff

I would have like, freaked out

    Luckyy

  • That was the most exciting thing ever.

    i deca-heart you.

  • lol.

whenever my teachers bring harry potter up it's usually to bash it

and then they ook at me and say "sorry. don't take it personally. i just hate harry potter".

    and i glare a lot.

    [:

  • that's awesome! I love when Harry Potter and School intertwine...and when people are scared of that! haha. I did a poli sci term paper on the HP Alliance and that was somewhat of my prof's reaction - although he did say he'd give the website info to his daughter...

also i'm super happy because i'm in one of the pics you got from Lena! holding the Prophecy booklet!

    :D

    -Pippa

  • Aww wow! That's so cool. xDDD

Don't you love it when people notice us Potter people? They have no idea what's going on at all. xDD

  • that's amazing!

  • AH! So cool. Plus, I think I saw a friend of mine in one of the pics....

  • LOL. That's hilarious.

I love how we scare people.

    ~David

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    *breathes*

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That is FANtastic. That story has also made my life XD

    -Sarah tGG

  • This is how I talk, I'm sorry.

  • Yay for psych majors! I just graduated with a degree in psych! :)

Haha wow what a rude prof! I had to do a project for my I/O psych class about a made-up or existing company. I wrote about Florean Fortescue branching out to muggle ice cream, and how to help the company be successful with the changes. The prof wrote "Is this some Harry Potter thing?" on the paper, and from then on kind of looked at me like I was crazy... I think he wanted us to create a realistic company, but I liked mine lol.

  • That is really exciting! Yay! What an awesome coincidence... I'm sorry he thinks you're crazy. I love that we're the "Black Robe" community now. :)

  • Aw I love that story. I wish I could've gone to prophecy but I did have to explain why I was wearing a gryffindor scarf in +30 weather... (July and DH)...

  • "Yeah... he ran away from me." xDD

    That's awesomeee.

  • We're a community so of course we have culture. People have culture because they are people, its what we do. It's really too bad your professor had that reaction. I mean, how is fandom not fascinating??

I would have been way excited as well!

  • The way your professor reacted made me think of Vernon Dursley in the first book when he noticed all those people in wizard robes, and his intolerance for wizards. What a Muggle.

  • haha i was at prophecy and some of the funniest parts of it was explaining to people in the elevator why everyone was dressed weird.

  • Thats halarious. I was at prophecy. It was rad. We all got a lot of weird looks from people. Several of my teachers havent even read harry potter. Including my english teacher. Whats up with that?!? Oh well.

  • I took the same class last semester down here for my psych track as well! :)

My professor found out about my love for Harry, but he didn't freak out haha

  • Thats Happy!

  • LOL thats an awesome story. And yes, you are ridiculous, but thats why I love you. :D

Because in our culture the more ridiculous you are the better. LOL Am I right?

  • Haha.. That kinda happens to me all the time XD

I was home for school because of that I was in line for the swedish edition of HPatDH and the day after when I came back to school my music teacher asked me where I were the day before and I held up the book and he was like "Oh" and then he kinda just left and I was roaring of laughter :'D But I have had a lot of nice Harry Potter moments with my teacher too. :) I love your videos! You're awesome:)

    Wrock on<3

  • haha yay for scaring your professor!

  • hahaha awesome! So he was giving a lecture and didnt know what the conference was about?

This makes me so exciting for Terminus. It must be so funny to run around the city in your robes and leaving people like this guy just wondering what a strange "culture" we belong to :D

  • He wasn't part of Prophecy. It was another conference.

  • If i had black robes, I'd walk around my city with them on even if I melted. Thats why my mom wont get me some. dang.

  • AHAHAHAHA.

    AHAHA.

    AHA.

That is basically the best thing I've everrrr heard.

  • Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! It's really weird that he thinks it's weird that we dress up in robes and are awesome. Yeah, weirdo. :):):):):):)

  • This is the most hilarious thing I've heard today.

I love when stuff like this happens.

  • hahah such a great story!!

  • I love doing that to people, but I really like it when they stay. and most times they are too "not believing" to run!

  • Tooo freaking cute!!! Haha, I love it.

  • That's an awesome story! Too bad he ran away from you

  • That's awesome. XDDD

Athough it was awfully hypocritical of him to talk to you about different cultures and then just book it when you were trying to talk to him.

  • Omg!! I can't believe he legged it! In our weird HP culture that makes me think *HE* is strange!

  • Exactly. That was really rude. Wierdo.

  • I love your story!

I can only imagine what it would be like to see a group of us Potter fans together and not know what was going on.

  • Hahaha, that's amazingggg.

    Wow. lol. Yay. =]

    ((And Yay for awesome Roommates!!))

  • haha...I do the same thing. We were talking about proverbs in my Lit class, and when the teacher said "A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush" I immeadiately thought "A Snitch in the hand is worth 150 on the Pitch"

Your new Roomie seems really cool though!

  • Hmm...that was a funny story (and the ridiculous picture you have of me and my pigtails lol), but I feel like your professor is being kinda hypocrital lol.

Here he is teaching an ethics course on how some things may be normal to somepeople and yet look strange, and yet he just totally kinda freaked when you told him that lol...

  • YES. THAT IS AMAZING.

It's a shame he's an asshole and didn't completely embrace our "culture." Hypocrite.

    :)

  • haha that's great! :-)

  • Hahaha I talked about wizard rock during an oral exam yesterday ^^

People think we are crazy... But we are not, we are a CULTURE! (Yeaaaah)

  • This is hilarious! Thanks for sharing, Lauren. I would get really excited too :) Your professor's reaction is really funny.

  • I was at a Freshman Women Engineers Lunchon..thing earlier this year, and I stopped in before class one day and I ended up talking to two deans and a professor at a table when my freshman dean asked me about my tshirt.

    "fight evil. read books?"

I had to explain Wizard Rock without sounding too crazy.

He thought it was cool. I was psyched.

  • Clearly he knows nothing if he couldn't figure out the meaning behind a kazillion black robes and striped scarves/ties. Whadda loser.

    Amazing story, though. =]

  • omg, i laughed SO hard when you did the part where he walked away from you. hilarious!

and dont worry, plenty of us dont ever stop thinking about harry potter. in fact, i had a HP discussion at work today [someone mentioned the story about the DH movie possibly being split into 2 moies] and i had to stop myself from being all super fangirl about it. :-D

  • The Andrew Slack poster is pretty amazing. Too bad it's not Andrew Slack with the Paul DeGeorge-inspired goatee. :)

  • LOLOL. I love all the "normal" people who were at Prophecy. Watching them react to us was hilarious. And it was also hilarious that I was in the elevator with Scottish people who said "Cheers!" to me when I told them what was going on.

  • What an anticlimactic ending!

Your professor sounds dumb.... psh cant see the excitement and worth of a HP conference...

Crazy timing though. I remember when people in New Orleans asked us if we just graduated.. haha.

  • I watched this video and actually said out loud to the screen, "AHAH! That is the most amazing story ever!" I want to be you, did ya know? =] lovelovelove

  • OMG, you are hilarious!

  • "He was like 'oh ok'"

    Walks away quickly...

    Hahaha!!!

I would have been equally excited and may have chased away the class because I might have yelled out "You were at Prophecy?!?! I wasn't at Prophecy and I'm a fan!!!"

    XD

  • Wait...people find us strange?

Great reenactment of your professor's reaction. I just almost fell out of my chair.

    <3's

  • Pahahahahaha.

  • That is such a funny story! I am laughing so hard right now! I love your Professor's reaction. That's fantastic.

  • oh my god that is utterly fucking hilarious.

  • 3. 'acculturation: all the knowledge and values shared by a society' "The weapon we have is love, same sex marriage is okay, genocide has to stop."

    4. 'the attitudes and behavior that are characteristic of a particular social group or organization; "the developing drug culture"' We more than share opinions and outlooks on a lot of things.

    5. 'the raising of plants or animals; "the culture of oysters"' Haha. Herbs.

Word. We are a culture. Tell Professor Runsaway. =)

  • Definitions of "culture" on the web, according to Google.

    1. 'a particular society at a particular time and place; "early Mayan civilization"' Harry Potter fans during the, erm, reign of Harry Potter.

    2. 'the tastes in art and manners that are favored by a social group' Fanart, anyone?

  • Haha! I love it.

  • LMAO

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That's ferocious.

  • YES this term needs to catch on.

  • Hahahahahaha. You are adorable.

  • This like the best thing ever. Andrew was telling us about his comedy troupe on the way to wrockstock so i freaked when you showed the poster!

Im glad you could keep your calm durnig that whole speech your teacher gave. You konw i would have ogne Wide Eye and shouted " OMG HARRY POTTER" at the top of my lungs while he was speaking.

    ~ Tonks

  • Haha!

    Cultural diversity...

  • reminds me of book one with the Dursleys...lol

  • HAHAHA THAT IS HILARIOUS.

  • What a teacher, but funny at the same time... and yes people dosent seem to understand whats for other people is just normal.

    The Harry Potter culture!

  • haha.. interesting

  • Oh man what a lame professor :(

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh my god. That is amazing.

I really want to know how he'll pitch the story to the class next semester now that he knows XD

  • ahahahahah that is hilarious.

    yay dorm rooms! ^^

  • hahahaa!! i totally agree with liane. Some people understand us, and a lot of people don't lmao.

Garrgghhh!! Every time something harry potter related comes up in class, i'm freaking out like pigwidgeon. and btw, i have the same exact bed sheets as you!!!!

  • xD I like his reaction.

  • Small world? *looks up and smiles at his robe on the wall*

  • hahaha awesome!

  • As I said, I think your bed looks really high off the ground, lol

    Cute outfit incidentally :)

  • lmaoooooo

  • Yeah, dude, we ARE a culture.
